3.Connections
Therearefiveways toconnectSTBtoTV.
The TVsetcan be divided intotwotypes:standarddefinition TV(SDTV)and high
definition TV(HDTV).Thetype ofthe TVsettobe connecteddeterminesthe selection
infour-choiceswitchand three-choiceswitch.
Warning:Ineachconnection,L-Audioand R-Audiomustbeconnectedwell.
1.Four-choice switch
If the receiverisconnected withSDTV,only576Ican be selected.If the receiveris
connectedwithHDTV,youcan selectproperdefinitionsamong576P,720Pand 1080I
according todefinition thatthe connected TVsupport.
2.Three-choice switch
If the receiverisconnected withHDTVviaVGA,L-AUDIOand R-AUDIOconnector,
you havetoselectVGA.If the receiverisconnected withHDTVviaY,Pb,Pr,L-
AUDIOand R-AUDIOconnector,YPbPrisselected.If the receiverisconnected with
HDTVviaDVI, L-AUDIOand R-RADIOconnector,DVIisselected.If 576Iisselected
inthe four-choiceswtich,hereanyone you selectwill be OK.

2.Quick Installation
STEP1:Check connections
Priortopowering upthe receiver,ensurethatallcabling is
correctlyconnected asexplained insystemconnections.
Ensurethatthe unitisconnected tothe A/Vequipment
and the powersocket.
STEP2:AdjustTVset
Turnon the television and adjustTV’svideo inputmode
according tothe receiver’svideo ouputmode.
STEP3:Powerup
Turnon powerswitchON/OFF on the frontpanelofyour
receiver.ThestartupOSDwillbeshownontheTVscreen.
ThestartupOSDwill remainforseveralsecondsandthen
disappear.If therearesomeprogramsstored inthe STB,
channelnumberwill be shownon the LEDarea.
STEP4:Searchprogram
1.If thereisno programstored inthe receiver,maybe itis
yourfirsttimetousethisreceiver,orthe receiverhasjust
been turned tofactorydefault. Nomatterwhathappens,
the systemwill guide you tosearchprogramsstep by
step when you turnon the receiver.
Atfirst, systemwill pop up SystemInformation win-
dowprompting“PleasepressOKkeytoInitializesystem”.
Press OKkeytocontinue,orpress EXITkeytoterminate.
If selectOK,you will enterintoCountrySelectwindow.
Fromhere,seletcorrectcountrywhereyou belong.Press
OKorEXITkeytocontinue,you will enterintoTimeZone
Adjustwindow.Inthiswindow,selectcorrecttimezone
whereyou belong and turnon daylightsaving ifdaylight
savingisavailable.
Press OKorExitkeytocontinue,and you will enter
intoParentalGuidewindow.Fromhere,you can change
passwordand install all kindsoflocks according toyour

inseciton III).Press OKorExitkeytoclosecurrent
window,and enterintothe nextAutoSearchwindow.
Onceyou getintothiswindow,systemwill searchpro-
gramsunderallchannelslistedinthiswindowimmediately.
Aftersearching,all searched programswill be added
intoTVprogramlistand systemwill turntonormalmode
toviewfirstsearched programunderfirstsearched
channel.
2.The waythatyou usuallyusetosearchprogramsis
introduced asfollows:
Onnon-menu mode,press Menu keytodisplayMain
Menu menu.Usekeys toselectInstallation item
and press OKkey,enterintoInstallation menu where
systemhasprovided twoways tosearchprograms:Auto
Searchand ManualSearch.
Werecommend you touseAutoSearchhere.Move
cursortoAutoSearchitemand press OKkey,and sys-
temwill searchprogramsimmediately.Aftersearching,
searched programswill be added toTVprogramlistand
turntofull-screen toviewfirstsearched program
automatically.If you arefamiliarwithparametersof
channel,you can go toManualSearch.Formoredetails,
pleasereferto1.Installation inSection III.
STEP5:Playprogram
Press OKkeyon normalviewmode,will pop up apro-
gramlist. Usekeys toselectthe desired program
and press OKkeytoviewinfull-screen.
Note:All functionscanbeoperatedbyusing thekeys
on theRCU,and someofthefunctionscanalsobe
operatedbyusing thekeys on thefrontpanel.

Underthe non-menu mode,pressing MENU keywill dis-

InInstallation menu,systemhasprovided twoways to
searchprograms:AutoSearchand ManualSearch.The
ChannelListdetermineswhatwill be searched inthose
twowindows,soitisimportanttoeditchannelinChan-
nelEditwindow.
1.1AutoSearch
Forbeginners,AutoSearchisthe bestchoice.Firstuse
keys toselectAutoSearchiteminthe Installation
menu.Then press OKkeytoenterintoAutoSearch
window.Systemwill searchprogramsunderChannelList
one byone automatically.Aftersearching,newsearched
programwill be added toTVprogramlistand systemwill
turntofull-screen mode toviewfirstsearched program
automatically.

During the searching,you can press EXITkeytostop or
press OKkeytoskip.Press EXITkeyagainorMENU
keytoexitfromthiswindow.
1.2ManualSearch
You can setparametersinManualSearchwindowifyou
arefamiliarwithrelevantparameters.Inthismode,only
one channel,whosenecessaryparametersaresetin
ManualSearchwindowbyhand,can be searched.
ChannelNo.:Press keytoselectproperoption
among the ChannelListthatyou can editinChannel
Editwindow.
Frequency:Thevaluevarieswithwhatyouhaveselected
inChannelNo.
Bandwidth:Press keys toswitchbetween 7Mand
8M.
Transmission Mode:You haveachoiceof2K,8Kand
Auto.Press keys toselectappropriatemode.
GuardInterval:Availableoptionsare:1/4,1/8,1/16,1/
32 andAuto.Press keys toselectone among them.
NetworkSearch:Press keys toselect“Yes”or“No”.
If select“Yes”,receiverwill searchall availablechannels
gottenfromcurrentchannel,andthensearchallprograms
according tothissearched channellist. If select“No”,re-
ceiveronlysearchsprogramswithincurrentchannelyou
havesetwell above.
Atthebottomofthiswindow,therearetwodynamiccolour
barsreflecting the signal’squalityand strength.You can
check whetheryou havesetthe antenna well bythese
twobars.
Aftermodifying,press OKkeytostartsearching.Search-
ing well,systemwill turntoviewfirstsearched program
automatically.During the wholeprocess,you can press
EXITorMENU keytoexit.

1.3ChannelEdit
SelectChannelEdititeminthe Installation menu and
press OKkey.Then ChannelEditwindowwill be dis-
played on the screen.Fromhere,newchannelcan be
added and the existing onescan be edited ordeleted.
You can usethe colorkeys on the RCU toexecutethe
correspondingcommand.

Afterpressing redkeyon the RCU,the Add Channel
window,whereyou can setnecessaryparametersofthe
newchannel,will be displayed on the screen.
ChannelNo:Thenumberisdetermined bythe lastchan-

lastnumberadding one.Thisvalue determined bythe re-
ceiverautomaticallycan notbe modified anymore.
Frequency:You can inputvaluesreferring toabove.
Bandwidth:Press keys toswitchbetween7Mand

channels.Firstselectthe channelyou wanttodeleteand
press greenkeyon the RCU,and you will find thisitem
will be marked withsymbol.You can cancelthisop-

eration bypressing greenkeyagain.Press Exitkeyto
exitfromChannelEditwindowand enterintoitagain.
You will find thatall channelsmarked withsymbolhave
been deleted fromthe channellist.
vModify
Selectthe channelyou wanttoeditfirstand then press
yellowkeyorOKkeytodisplayModifyChannelwindow.
The operationsarethe sameas“Add”.
1.4FactoryDefault
InInstallation menu,movecursortoFactoryDefault
itemand press OKkey.The Passwordwindowwill ap-
peartoask you toinputthe password.Thedefaultvalueis
1111 (If you wanttochange password,pleasereferto5.5
ParentalGuide).If you haveinputted correctpassword,
awarning message boxwill be displayed on the screen.
Press OKkeytoresumethe default.
Note:Afterrestoring default,all programsyou have
searchedwill beerasedand all parameterswill re-
turntothefactorydefault.So,thisoperation isap-
pliedonlyforspecialnecessarysituation.
1.5Upgrade
Thisupgrade function needssoftwaresupport.

toenterintoProgramGuidewindow.You can alsoenter
intothiswindowbypressing EPGkeyon the RCU under
non-menumode.

and press OKkeytoenterintoProgramManagemenu.
Thismenu consistsofProgramEditand FavoriteEdit
twoitems.
3.1ProgramEdit
Through thiswindow,you can editprogramsaccording to
yourrequirements.Fourcolourkeys on the RCU have
theircorresponding functions.

Thisdeletion command allowsyou todeleteone ormore
unwantedprogramspermanently.Firstselecttheprogram
you wanttodeleteand press redkeyon the RCU,you
will find thisitemwill be marked with“X”symbol.You can
cancelthisoperation bypressing redkeyagain.Press
OKorEXITkeytoexitfromProgramEditwindowand
enteritagain,and you will find thatall programsmarked
with“X”symbolhavebeen deleted fromthe programlist.

keys tomovecursorbetween TVprogramListand down-
rightlist, and keys tomoveup ordownineachlist.
The down-rightlistareselected TVprogram’sEPGs.Re-
call keyisused toswitchamong EPGsofseveralfuture
days.Movecursortodesired EPGand press OKkey,a
bigtextboxwill appearformoredetail explanation.
Press EXITkeytoreturntoMainMenu menu,orpress
MENU keytoreturnnomralviewmode.

3.2FavoriteEdit
Thiswindowincludesthe three columnsofFAV,Selected
andPrograms.Whiletherearenopreparedfavoritegroups
inFAVcolumn,youcan define and modifyfavoritegroups’
namebyusing colourkeys on the RCU.And more,you
can add programstoanyfavoritegroup.
vMove
Onlyone programitemcan be moved up ordowneach
time.Press keys toselectprogramyou wanttomove
and press greenkeyon theRCU.Adouble-pointed arrow
pointing northand southwill be displayed righttothe se-
lected program.You can press keys tomovethis
programtowhereyou wanttolocate.Press greenkey
againtoconfirmnewlocation.
vModify
Press keys tohighlightthe programthatyou wantto
modifyand press yellowkeyon the RCU.Then you will
enterintoProgramModifywindowwhereyou canmodify
the following parametersofthe selected program.
VideoPID:Usekeys tofixalocation whereyou
wanttoinputadecimaldigitand then usenumerickeys
on the RCU toinput.
AudioPID:Inputspecifiedvalueinthesamewayasabove.
PCR_PID:Inputappropriatevalue inthe samewayas
above.
TeletextPID:Inputappropriatevalue inthe samewayas
above.
Aftermodifying,press OKtosaveorpress EXITkeyto
cancelthisoperation.
vFav Edit
Bypressing bluecolourkey,you can switchbetween
ProgramEditwindowand FavoriteEditwindow.

Howtodefineafavouritegroup
Press redkeyon the RCU,and will pop up akeypad
windowwhereyou can define afavoritegroup name.
Inthiskeypad window,selectyourrequired characterby
using direction keyon the RCU and press OKkey.Then
the selected characterwill be showninthe titlebaratthe
top ofthiskeypad window.Toswitchbetween capitaliza-
tion and lowcase,pleaseselectCapsOncommand and
press OKkeyon the RCU.Back command allowsyou to
erasethe unwantedcharacterinthe titlebar.Movecursor
toOKcommand and press OKkey.The keypad will dis-
appearandthenewnamewillbeshownintheFAVcolumn.
You can define severalfavoritegroupsinthe sameway.
Howtomodifyafavouritegroup
Inthe FAV column,usekeys toselectone thatyou
wanttomodifyand press yellowkey.Then akeypad
windowwill be poped up Forfurtheroperation,please
refertothe abovespecification.
Howtodeleteafavouritegroup
Inthe FAV column,the selected favoritegroup will be de-
leted fromthe listassoon asgreencolourkeyon the
RCU ispressed.
Howtoadd programsintoafavouritegroup
Selectone favoritegroup (forexamapleSportsfavorite
group thatyou havejustdefined)inFavcolumn,and then
movecursortoProgramscolumn.InProgramscolumn,
selectprogramsthathavearelation withSportsandpress
OKkey,andthenthoseprogramswillbeaddedintoSports

favoritegroup and showninthe Selected column,atthe
sametimethoseselected programswill disappearinthe
Programscolumn.
IfyouwanttodeselectoneprograminSportfavoritegroup,
movecusortoprogramthatyou wanttodeleteinSe-
lected columnand press OKkey,and then thisdesig-
nated programwill disappearinSelected columnand will
be showninthe Programscolumn.
Theway togetintoProgramEditwindow?
Bypressing bluecolourkey,you can switchbetween
ProgramEditwindowand FavoriteEditwindow.
4.ProgramSelect
Inthe MainMenu menu,usekeys toselectPro-
gramSelectitem,and press OKkeytoenterintoPro-
gramListwindow.
Fromhere,thedefaultmodeis“ALL”mode.Supposethat
youhavedefinedseveralfavoritegroups(pleasereferto3.
2FavoriteEdit),you can usekeys orFAVAVkeyto
selectdesired favoritegroup among them.Atthe same
time,you can find thatprogramsshowninthe downpro-
gramlistwill varywithselected favoritegroup.If thereis
no defined favoritegroup,keys orFAVVkeyarenot
available.Bypressing keys,the cursorwill returnto
the downprogramlist.
Indownprogramlist, keys areused toselectde-
sired programand press OKkeytoviewinfull screen.
