1. GENERAL INFORMATION
The IT-100 is an independent (stand-alone) DTMF telephone interface. It provides access to the P.A.
system from the telephony installation.
2. FRONT VIEW
(1) CONFIG. LINE INDICATOR: Yellow LED.
Slow blink: Module in standby mode (READY).
Fast blink: Starts to blink when the CONFIG.
button is pressed. This indicates that the
module is in configuration mode. Once the
module answers, the LED remains
permanently lit.
Permanently lit: This indicates that the
module is broadcasting a message or the
configuration parameters are being entered
from a telephone call.
(2) PRIORITY: Yellow LED indicating priority
(on standby turned off). It lights when a
telephone call is made.
(3) VOLUME: Front volume control. (If the rear
VOLUME BYPASS jumper is ON, this volume does
not work).
(4) ON LED: Blue LED indicating module is on.
(5) POWER SWITCH: ON/OFF switch

(1) POWER SUPPLY FUSE: 0.5A fuse (250V AC)
(2) CONNECTION TO THE 230V AC MAINS SUPPLY: Male socket CEE22. For connection to the mains
supply by means of the cable supplied together with the module.
(3) GROUND TO CHASSIS CONNECTION: In all Public Address installations it is very important that
there is one single point of connection between the signal ground connection and the mains supply
ground contact.
If the Public Address installation is composed of several equipment units, their chassis will probably be
joined, either by means of the ground terminal of the mains connection, or because they are fitted in a
rack cabinet.
If the ground connections are also joined by the signal circuits, it is advisable to remove the jumper
between the ground connection and the chassis from all the units except one.
(4) SURETY PAGING: Paging security relay. Switches when a telephone call is made.
(5) VOLUME BYPASS:
(6) AUDIO OUTPUT: Audio output. It has a priority contact.

5. CONFIGURATION
The configuration defines the mode in which we communicate with the module by means of DTMF tones
of a telephone call. Access to this configuration is gained by pressing the “CONFIG.” button on the
module and making a call through the telephone connection. Once the module answers, 10 digits must
be entered. Each digit configures a different parameter.
5.1. CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS
The programmable parameters are:

The password is X X X: the call is made, the module answers and the password must be keyed in from
the telephone.
If the password is correct, three tones will be heard and the message can be broadcast.
PARAMETER 4: CALL TONES
This configures the number of call tones after which the module will answer when a call is made to
broadcast a message (between 1 and 9).
N.B.: In the case of the configuration call, the module always answers after two call tones.

PARAMETER 8: Hang-up tone detection time.
Depending on the type of exchange or the quality of the telephone line, the module could mistake a tone
of voice for the hang-up tone. If this occurs, increase this parameter so that a longer detection time is
programmed.
Values of 0 to 9 are admitted, increasing the hang-up tone detection time by 25 ms with each value (0 =
disabled, 1 = 25 ms … 9 = 225 ms).
PARAMETER 9: NOISE GATE
Through this parameter, the noise gate available on this telephone interface can be activated (dial 1) or
deactivated (dial 0).
PARAMETER 10: COMMUNICATION TIME
This determines the maximum communication time. Once this time has elapsed, the module will hang up
automatically.

ATTENTION: By assigning a 0 to this parameter, the automatic hang-up function is deactivated; in
this case, if the telephone hangs up and the communication time (parameter 10) has not ended, the
hang-up tone will be heard over the Public Address system until this time has elapsed.
To avoid this, the system includes the function of forcing hang-up by pressing key 1. When 1
is pressed, independently of the values assigned to parameter 8 (hang-up tone detection time) and to
parameter 10 (communication time), the telephone hangs up.

5.3. CALL CONFIGURATION PROCESS
To change the parameters, it is necessary to make a configuration call as described below:
1. Press the CONFIG. button on the rear panel of the module. The CONFIG. LED will start to blink quickly.
The user has approximately 25 seconds to make the call and send the configuration parameters.
2. Dial the telephone number (or extension) corresponding to the IT-100 telephone adaptor from a tone
dial telephone. The unit will answer on the second call tone, the CONFIG. LED will remain lit and three
different tones will be heard through the telephone receiver.
3. Key in the 10 digits corresponding to the 10 configuration parameters. 3 identical tones will be heard
through the telephone receiver to confirm reception of the configuration and the CONFIG. LED will
change to READY mode (slow blink).
4. Hang up the telephone.
6. OPERATION
Once the IT-100 telephone adaptor has been configured by following the steps described in the previous
sections, access can be gained to the PA system from the telephone by dialling the number corresponding
to the telephone line connected to the module.
6.1. BROADCAST OF A MESSAGE WITHOUT A PASSWORD
1. Pick up the telephone.
2. Dial the telephone number corresponding to the telephone interface.
3. Wait for the module to answer after the established call tones (from 1 to 9 depending on the
configuration).
4. The module answers, emits a series of short tones, and then a long tone is heard, indicating that the
message can now be broadcast.
5. To end the message, hang up the telephone or press key 1. By default, the system will hang up
automatically once the communication time defined when the telephone interface is configured has
elapsed.
6.2. BROADCAST OF A MESSAGE WITH A PASSWORD
1. Pick up the telephone.
2. Dial the telephone number corresponding to the telephone interface.
3. Wait for the module to answer after the established call tones (from 1 to 9 depending on the
configuration).
4. The module answers and emits a series of short tones.
5. Enter the three digits corresponding to the password and then a long tone will be heard, indicating
that the message can now be broadcast.
6. At the end of the message, hang up the telephone or press key 1. By default, the system will hang up
automatically once the communication time defined when the telephone interface is configured has
elapsed.
