Vous ne devez jamais :

Vous devez toujours :
•lire et comprendre le manuel de l’opérateur;
•entretenir la scie à chaîne en suivant ces instructions;
•porter des gants en cuir ainsi qu’une protection des
yeux, des oreilles, de la tête et du visage approuvée;
•utiliser vos deux mains et une prise solide;
•faire tourner le moteur à plein régime pendant la coupe;
•songer à utiliser une chaîne à faible rebond
et les guides-chaîne à rebond réduit.

PROTECT YOURSELF FROM CHAINSAW KICKBACK
Chainsaw kickback is dangerous. It’s an extremely fast, backward and/or upward motion of
the chainsaw. It happens when the saw chain that’s near the nose or top area of the guide
bar contacts any object, or when the wood closes in, pinching the saw chain.
• Kickback can lead to dangerous loss of control. You or bystanders could be seriously injured.
• Avoid contact of the upper section or front of the guide bar nose with any object.
• Any saw chain can kickback.

IMPORTANT: Standard PowerSharp bars may not work on saws equipped for Intenz bars. Before replacing
an Intenz bar with a standard PowerSharp guide bar, check that your saw has a tensioning mechanism on
the saw (see your saw operators manual).
Wear gloves. With the chainsaw off and cool, remove the old bar and chain. Install your new bar and chain
as follows:
1) Place the guide bar n the mounting studs.
2) Loop the new chain onto the drive sprocket with teeth cutting edges facing away from the drive
sprocket along top edge of the guide bar.
3) Feed the chain into the groove of the bar and slide the bar away from the motor to remove slack from the
chain. Adjust the position of the bar adjusting pin until it engages the hole in the bar.
4) Replace the drive sprocket cover with the nuts and finger tighten.
IMPORTANT: The saw chain must be properly tensioned before using. See Tensioning Instructions below.
* To even bar wear and maximize bar life, invert the bar occasionally.
Tensioning Instructions – Non Intenz Bars Only
1) With the bar-mounting nuts only finger tight, hold up the nose of the bar (FIG. A) and tighten the bar
adjusting screw. (The location of the adjusting screw varies. See your saw operator’s manual.)
2) Tighten the bar-mounting nuts securely.
Chain tension is correct when, with some effort, with a gloved hand you are able to pull the chain
smoothly around the bar. The chain should touch the underside of the bar rail (FIG. B).
During early life use, run the chain around the guide bar, not cutting for a minute or two (for gasoline-
powered saws, run at slow speed), making sure the chain is getting a good supply of oil. Stop the motor and
check the chain tension. If it has loosened, readjust.
After a short period of use, allow the chain to cool and once again recheck the tension. Watch tension
carefully for the first half-hour and periodically throughout the life of the chain, readjusting as required when
the chain and bar are cool to the touch. Never tighten chain when it is hot.
Lubricate your chain properly with good quality bar and chain lubricant. Make certain the chain is getting an
adequate supply of oil – oil should be thrown from the nose of the bar when running, but not in the cut. For
gasoline-powered saws, you should use a full tank of oil for each tank of fuel.
When cutting under very cold conditions, bar and chain oil may be diluted with up to 25-percent kerosene or
diesel fuel to ensure an adequate flow of oil.
Using the Bar-Mount Sharpener
The PowerSharp bar-mount sharpener requires the installation of a genuine PowerSharp sharpening stone prior
to first use. The stone is packaged with PowerSharp chain and should be replaced with every new chain.
IMPORTANT: The PowerSharp bar-mount sharpener is for use ONLY with PowerSharp chain. NEVER attempt
to sharpen other chain with the bar-mount sharpener. Damage to the chain and sharpener will occur.
IMPORTANT: PowerSharp chain uses unique top-sharpening cutters and can only be sharpened with a
genuine PowerSharp bar-mount sharpener.
WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, GLOVES, AND EYE PROTECTION WHEN USING THE SHARPENER.
Install the Sharpening Stone
Unlatch the bar-mount sharpener cover by pulling up on the tip portion of the latch. Open the bar-mount
sharpener cover (Fig. C) and insert the stone into the mounting slot as shown (Fig. D). Ensure that the
stone is completely seated to prevent loss during operation.
Attach the Bar-Mount Sharpener to the Bar
IMPORTANT: Always position arrow on bar-mount sharpener facing up.
WARNING: NEVER ATTACH OR REMOVE THE BAR-MOUNT SHARPENER WITH
THE CHAINSAW MOTOR RUNNING.
CAUTION: Always wear gloves when installing or removing the bar-mount
sharpener and take care not to pinch fingers when closing the sharpener cover.
1) Clean debris from the surface of the bar and the sharpener bar mounting area. 2) Unlatch and open the
cover of the bar-mount sharpener. 3) With cover open and motor off, slide the two steel guide pins through the
guide holes in the bar (Fig. E) until the sharpener is flush against the bar. 4) Close the cover until the longest
pin is slightly protruding above the cover. 5) Securely latch the cover by pushing the tip of the latch towards the
sharpener cover until the latch clicks into position and is flush with the cover (Fig. F).
WARNING: WHEN THE SHARPENER IS ASSEMBLED ON THE BAR, THE LONGEST PIN MUST BE VISIBLE ABOVE
THE LATCH AND THE LATCH MUST CLICK INTO PLACE. IF NOT, DO NOT USE THE SHARPENER. DO NOT USE THE
SHARPENER IF ANY COMPONENT IS BROKEN. SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY COULD RESULT.
Sharpening the Chain
1) Select a location that provides good footing and a solid surface to push against. 2) With the saw at full throttle,
lightly press the treaded foot of the bar-mount sharpener against a firm surface that is between knee to waist
high for 3-5 seconds (Fig G). Sparks will be visible when the cutters are in contact with the sharpening stone.
CAUTION: Sharpening with the PowerSharp system produces low energy sparks.
WARNING: POWERSHARP SHOULD NOT BE USED IN THE PRESENCE OF EXPOSED, EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE
MATERIALS SUCH AS GASOLINE AND ACETYLENE.
WARNING: BEFORE ENGAGING POWERSHARP, REMOVE ALL RESIDUAL GASOLINE FROM THE CHAINSAW, BAR,
AND CHAIN.
WARNING: DO NOT PRESS THE TREADED FOOT WITH YOUR HANDS, YOUR FEET, OR AGAINST THE GROUND
AS THAT WILL BRING THE CUTTING CHAIN TOO CLOSE TO YOUR HANDS, ARMS, LEGS OR FEET AND COULD
RESULT IN SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH FORCE WHEN SHARPENING. Excessive force can reduce the
performance of the sharpening stone.
IMPORTANT: It is normal to see a small amount of sparks and smoke emerging from the bar-mount sharpener
during sharpening as the cutters contact the stone and friction heats the bar and chain oil. If excessive amounts
of either sparks or smoke is present, immediately reduce the pressure being applied to the sharpener.
IMPORTANT: After 5 or more chains the sparks may increase. If the volume of sparks exiting the bar-
mount sharpener increases significantly, the bar-mount sharpener needs to be replaced.
Remove the Bar-Mount Sharpener
WARNING: NEVER REMOVE THE BAR-MOUNT SHARPENER WITH THE MOTOR RUNNING.
CAUTION: NEVER cut with the bar-mount sharpener installed.
CAUTION: Use caution when removing the sharpener: the bar and chain may be hot due to the friction
generated during sharpening.
1) After sharpening, turn the saw off. 2) Remove the bar-mount sharpener by unlatching and opening the
cover and removing from the guide bar. 3) Close and latch the cover to prevent accidental overextension of
the hinge, which could damage the bar-mount sharpener. 4) Make a test cut to determine if the chain has
been sufficiently sharpened. If not, repeat the sharpening procedure until the chain is sufficiently sharp.
How to Tell When to Replace the Chain and Stone
The chain and stone are meant to be a matched pair.
Replace BOTH when:
• there is a sudden drop in the amount of sparks generated when attempting to sharpen the chain.
The stone is worn out.
• the cutting speed of the chain is unsatisfactorily slow and repeated sharpenings do not improve the
cutting speed. The chain is worn out.

Instrucciones de montaje de la barra y la cadena: Sólo barras no Intenz®
IMPORTANTE: Las barras estándar PowerSharp pueden no funcionar en motosierras equipadas para barras Intenz. Antes de reemplazar la barra guía
Intenz con una barra guía estándar PowerSharp, revise que su motosierra tenga un mecanismo de tensión (consulte el manual de la motosierra).
Use guantes. Con la motosierra apagada y fría, retire la barra y cadena viejas. Instale la barra y cadena nuevas como a continuación:
1) Coloque la barra guía en los montantes de montaje.
2) Enganche la nueva cadena en la rueda dentada de transmisión con los bordes de corte de los dientes apuntando en dirección contraria a la rueda a
lo largo el borde de la barra guía.
3) Coloque la cadena en la ranura de la barra y deslice la barra en dirección contraria al motor para dejar la cadena sin holgura. Ajuste la posición de la
barra ajustando el pasador hasta que se enganche con el orificio en la barra.
4) Reemplace la cubierta de la rueda dentada de transmisión con las tuercas y apriete con los dedos.
IMPORTANTE: La cadena para motosierra debe estar adecuadamente tensionada antes de su uso. Consulte las instrucciones de tensión a continuación.

Instrucciones de tensión: Sólo barras no Intenz
1) Después de apretar las tuercas de montaje de la barra sólo con los dedos, sostenga la punta de la barra (Fig. A) y apriete el tornillo de ajuste de la

2) Apriete firmemente las tuercas de montaje de la barra.
La tensión de la cadena es adecuada cuando, con un poco de esfuerzo y guantes en las manos, puede jalar de la cadena y moverla sin
problemas alrededor de la barra. La cadena debe tocar la parte inferior del riel de la barra (Fig. B).
Durante los primeros usos, haga correr la cadena alrededor de la barra guía, sin cortar, durante uno o dos minutos (en el caso de las motosierras a
gasolina, use una velocidad baja), asegurándose de que la cadena obtenga un buen suministro de aceite. Detenga el motor y revise la tensión de la
cadena. Si se soltó, vuelva a ajustarla.
Después de un corto período de uso, permita que la cadena se enfríe y vuelva a revisar la tensión. Revise la tensión con cuidado durante la primera

ajuste la cadena cuando está caliente.
Lubrique la cadena de manera adecuada con un lubricante para barras y cadenas de buena calidad. Asegúrese de que la cadena obtenga un suministro
adecuado de aceite: la punta de la barra debe aportar aceite mientras funcione, pero no en el corte. En el caso de las motosierras a gasolina, se debe
usar un tanque lleno de aceite por cada tanque de combustible.
Al cortar en condiciones de mucho frío, el aceite de la barra y la cadena pueden diluirse con un 25 por ciento de queroseno o combustible diésel para
asegurarse de obtener un flujo adecuado del aceite.
Uso del afilador en barra
Antes de usar por primera vez el afilador en barra PowerSharp es necesario instalar una piedra para afilar PowerSharp original. La piedra se incluye en
el empaque de la cadena PowerSharp y se debe reemplazar con cada cadena nueva.
IMPORTANTE: El afilador en barra PowerSharp SÓLO puede usarse con cadenas PowerSharp. NUNCA intente afilar otras cadenas con el afilador en
barra, ya que se dañará ésta y el afilador.
IMPORTANTE: Las cadenas PowerSharp usan cortadores únicos para la parte superior y sólo pueden afilarse con un afilador en barra PowerSharp
original.

Instale la piedra para afilar
Destrabe la cubierta del afilador en barra jalando hacia arriba la parte de la punta del pestillo. Abra la cubierta del afilador en barra (Fig. C) e inserte la
piedra en la ranura de montaje como se muestra (Fig. D). Asegúrese de que la piedra esté completamente bien colocada para evitar su pérdida durante
el funcionamiento.
Fije el afilador en barra a la barra
IMPORTANTE: Siempre coloque hacia arriba la flecha del afilador de la montura de la barra.
ADVERTENCIA: NUNCA FIJE NI RETIRE EL AFILADOR EN BARRA CON EL MOTOR DE LA MOTOSIERRA
FUNCIONANDO.
PRECAUCIÓN: Siempre use guantes al instalar o retirar el afilador en barra y tenga cuidado de no apretarse
los dedos al cerrar la tapa del afilador.
1) Limpie los desechos de la superficie de la barra y del área de montaje de la barra del afilador. 2) Destrabe y abra la
cubierta del afilador en barra. 3) Con la cubierta abierta y el motor apagado, deslice los dos pasadores guía de acero a través de los orificios guía en
la barra (Fig. E) hasta que el afilador quede al ras contra la barra. 4) Cierre la cubierta hasta que el pasador más largo sobresalga levemente sobre la
cubierta. 5) Cierre firmemente con pestillo la cubierta presionando la punta del pestillo hacia la cubierta del afilador hasta que éste encaje en su sitio con
un clic y quede al ras de la cubierta (Fig. F).
ADVERTENCIA: CUANDO EL AFILADOR SE ENSAMBLA EN LA BARRA, EL PASADOR MÁS LARGO DEBE SER VISIBLE SOBRE EL PESTILLO
Y EL PESTILLO DEBE ENCAJAR EN SU SITIO CON UN CLIC. SI NO ES ASÍ, NO USE EL AFILADOR. NO USE EL AFILADOR SI ALGÚN
COMPONENTE ESTÁ ROTO, PODRÍAN OCURRIR LESIONES PERSONALES GRAVES.
Afilado de la cadena
1) Seleccione una ubicación que proporcione un buen equilibrio y una superficie sólida contra la que apoyarse. 2) Con la motosierra funcionando a
potencia máxima, presione ligeramente el pie roscado del afilador en barra contra una superficie firme, que tenga una altura entre la rodilla y la cintura,
durante 3 a 5 segundos (Fig. G). Se podrán ver chispas cuando los cortadores entren en contacto con la piedra para afilar.
PRECAUCIÓN: El afilado con el sistema PowerSharp produce chispas de baja energía.

Retire el afilador en barra

PRECAUCIÓN: NUNCA corte con el afilador en barra instalado.
PRECAUCIÓN: Tenga cuidado al retirar el afilador: Es posible que la barra y la cadena estén calientes debido a la fricción generada

1) Después de afilar, apague la motosierra. 2) Retire el afilador en barra destrabando y abriendo la cubierta y retirándolo de la barra guía. 3) Cierre y
coloque el pestillo de la cubierta para evitar extender demasiado la bisagra accidentalmente, lo que podría dañar el afilador en barra. 4) Haga un corte
de prueba para determinar si la cadena quedó suficientemente afilada. De no ser así, repita el procedimiento hasta que la cadena quede suficientemente
afilada.
Cómo saber cuándo reemplazar la cadena y la piedra
La cadena y la piedra están diseñadas para ser un conjunto.
Reemplace AMBAS cuando:
• Se presente una disminución repentina en la cantidad de chispas generadas al intentar afilar la cadena. La piedra está desgastada.
• La velocidad de corte de la cadena sea lenta hasta llegar a ser poco satisfactoria y los afilados reiterativos no mejoren la velocidad de corte. La
cadena está desgastada.
Assemblage du guide et de la chaîne – Pour les guides autres que ceux de marque Intenz®
IMPORTANT : Les barres PowerSharp standard peuvent ne pas fonctionner avec des scies destinées à recevoir des barres Intenz. Avant de remplacer la
barre Intenz par un guide-chaîne PowerSharp standard, vérifiez si votre scie est dotée d’un mécanisme de mise sous tension fixé à votre scie (consultez
le manuel de l’opérateur de votre scie).
Portez des gants. Une fois la scie éteinte et refroidie, retirez le guide et la chaîne usés, puis installez le nouveau guide et la nouvelle chaîne selon les
étapes suivantes:
1) Placez le guide-chaîne sur les goujons de fixation.
2) Insérez la nouvelle chaîne dans le pignon d’entraînement de façon à ce que les rebords dentés soient à l’opposé du pignon d’entraînement, le long
du rebord supérieur du guide-chaîne.
3) Faites passer la chaîne dans la rainure du guide et tirez le guide en l’éloignant du moteur pour tendre la chaîne. Ajustez la position de la tige de
réglage du guide jusqu’à ce qu’elle s'engage dans le trou du guide.
4) Replacez le couvercle du pignon d’entraînement à l’aide des écrous et resserrez-le à la main.
IMPORTANT: La chaîne doit être tendue de manière adéquate avant toute utilisation. Consultez les instructions de tensionnage ci-après.
* Pour assurer l’usure uniforme du guide et prolonger sa durée d’utilisation, changez-le de côté de temps à autre.
Instructions de tensionnage – Pour les guides autres que ceux de marque Intenz
1) Serrez à la main les écrous de montage du guide; tenez le nez du guide (FIG. A) et serrez la vis de réglage. (L’emplacement de la vis de réglage varie.
Consultez le manuel d’utilisation de la scie à chaîne.)
2) Serrez fermement les écrous de montage du guide.
La tension de la chaîne est bien ajustée lorsque vous pouvez, d’une main (mais en portant un gant), déplacer la chaîne le long du guide-
chaîne. La chaîne doit toucher la partie inférieure de la glissière du guide (FIG. B).
Pour les premières utilisations, faites tourner la chaîne durant une à deux minutes sans couper quoi que ce soit (si la scie fonctionne à l’essence, faites-
la fonctionner à vitesse lente) afin de vous assurer que la chaîne est bien lubrifiée. Arrêtez le moteur et vérifiez la tension de la chaîne. Si elle est mal
tendue, rajustez-la.
Après une courte période d’utilisation, laissez la chaîne refroidir et revérifiez la tension. Surveillez la tension constamment durant la première demi-
heure; faites-le périodiquement ensuite. Rajustez la chaîne au besoin. Laissez la chaîne et le guide refroidir avant d’y toucher. Ne tentez jamais de régler
la tension d’une chaîne encore chaude.
Lubrifiez adéquatement la chaîne à l’aide de lubrifiant à guide-chaîne/chaîne de bonne qualité. Assurez-vous que la chaîne reçoit suffisament d’huile –
lorsque la scie fonctionne, mais non lors de la coupe, l’huile devrait gicler du nez du guide-chaîne. Les scies à essence devraient consommer un réservoir
d’huile complet pour chaque réservoir d’essence.
Lorsque vous utilisez la scie dans des conditions très froides, diluez l’huile pour le guide et la chaîne en y ajoutant un quart de volume de kérosène ou de
carburant diesel afin d’assurer la fluidité de l’huile.
Utilisation de l’affûteuse à montage sur le guide-chaîne
Avant d’utiliser l’affûteuse à montage PowerSharp, une pierre d’affûtage naturelle PowerSharp doit être installée. La pierre est fournie avec la chaîne
PowerSharp et devrait être remplacée lorsque vous posez une nouvelle chaîne.
IMPORTANT: Utilisez UNIQUEMENT l’affûteuse à montage sur le guide-chaîne PowerSharp pour aiguiser des chaînes PowerSharp. NE tentez JAMAIS
d’aiguiser un autre type de chaîne avec l’affûteuse à montage sur le guide-chaîne. Si vous le faites, vous endommagerez la chaîne et l’affûteuse.
IMPORTANT: Les chaînes PowerSharp utilisent des couteaux d’affûtage uniques et de qualité supérieure et ne peuvent être aiguisées qu’avec une pierre
à affûter naturelle PowerSharp.

Installation de la pierre d’affûtage
Soulevez le loquet du couvercle de l’affûteuse à montage sur le guide-chaîne. Ouvrez le couvercle de l’affûteuse (Fig. C) et insérez la pierre dans l’espace
prévu à cette fin, tel qu’il est illustré dans la figure D. Assurez-vous que la pierre est bien enfoncée afin d’éviter les altérations durant son utilisation.
Fixez l’affûteuse au guide-chaîne
IMPORTANT : Placez toujours la flèche de l’affûteuse à montage sur barre vers le haut.

1) Nettoyez les surfaces du guide et de l’affûteuse à montage sur le guide-chaîne. 2) Soulevez le loquet et ouvrez le couvercle de l’affûteuse à montage
sur le guide-chaîne. 3) Une fois le moteur arrêté et le couvercle ouvert, glissez les broches à guide en acier dans les trous du guide (Fig. E) jusqu’à ce que
l’affûteuse soit fixée solidement au guide. 4) Fermez le couvercle jusqu’à ce que la broche la plus longue dépasse légèrement. 5) Fermez solidement le
couvercle en poussant sur l’extrémité du loquet jusqu’à ce qu’il s’enclenche et qu’il reprenne sa position, alignée avec le couvercle. (Fig. F).

Affûtage de la chaîne

IMPORTANT: Il est normal de voir quelques étincelles et de la fumée provenant de l’affûteuse au cours de l’aiguisage, étant donné que les maillons de la
chaîne entrent en contact avec la pierre et que le frottement réchauffe l’huile sur le guide et la chaîne. Si trop d’étincelles se produisent ou trop de fumée
se dégage, relâchez la pression sur l’affûteuse.
IMPORTANT : La quantité d’étincelles peut augmenter après 5 chaînes ou plus. Si la quantité d’étincelles produite par l’affûteuse à montage sur barre
augmente de façon considérable, cela signifie que l’affûteuse à montage sur barre doit être remplacée.
Retrait de l’affûteuse à montage sur le guide-chaîne
AVERTISSEMENT: NE RETIREZ JAMAIS L’AFFÛTEUSE À MONTAGE SUR LE GUIDE-CHAÎNE LORSQUE LE MOTEUR DE LA SCIE EST EN MARCHE.

MISE EN GARDE: Faites preuve de prudence lorsque vous retirez l’affûteuse: le guide et la chaîne peuvent être chauds en raison du frottement entre les
surfaces durant l’affûtage.
1) Une fois l’affûtage terminé, arrêtez la scie. 2) Soulevez le loquet et ouvrez le couvercle, retirez l’affûteuse à montage sur le guide-chaîne, puis
enlevez-la du guide-chaîne. 3) Fermez et bloquez le couvercle pour éviter l’extension excessive de la charnière, ce qui pourrait endommager l’affûteuse
à montage sur le guide-chaîne. 4) Faites un essai pour vérifier si la chaîne est suffisamment affûtée. Si elle ne l’est pas, répétez la procédure d’affûtage
jusqu’à ce que la chaîne soit correctement affûtée.
Remplacement de la chaîne et de la pierre à aiguiser
La chaîne et la pierre à aiguiser forment une paire.
Remplacez LES DEUX dans les cas suivants:
• S’il y a une baisse soudaine de la quantité d’étincelles produites lorsque vous tentez d’aiguiser la chaîne. Cela signifie que la pierre à aiguiser est
complètement usée.
• Si la vitesse de coupe de la chaîne est médiocre et que des affûtages répétés ne l’améliorent pas. Cela signifie que la chaîne est complètement
émoussée.
