Buttons/Keys
ON LINE: Toggles unit between online and offline.
FWD LN FEED: Advances paper one line. When held down simultaneously
with RESET button advances paper one dot row.
FORM FEED: Advances paper form length stored in Present Users Number's
attribute field 10. If Paper Park is active, this key will restore paper to its printing
position. When held down simultaneously with RESET button puts printer in
PAPER PARK mode. Pressing this button once again will take printer out of
PAPER PARK mode and restore paper to its printing position.
RESET: Places printer offline and clears any alarm display if error condition has
been corrected.
QUIET/SET-UP: Activates SET-UP mode.
REV LN FEED: Backs up paper one line. When held down simultaneously with
RESET allows paper to back up one dot row.
Note:
Do not use this button with bottom feeding paper or multipart forms.
TEAR FORM: Places paper at tear line. If button is pressed a second time,
printer will return paper to print position. Paper will also return to print position by
pressing this button and the RESET button simultaneously.
LEDs/Lights
POWER (Green): Indicates unit is functioning.
ON LINE (Green): Indicates unit is online.
ALARM (Red): Indicates unit is in an error status.
SET-UP (Yellow): Indicates printer is either in SET-UP or CONFIGURATION
mode.
DISPLAY WINDOW: Indicates status and selected choices.
Self-test
1. Ensure printer power is off.
2. Load continuous feed paper of at least 14 inch width (136 columns wide).
3. Hold down the RESET key while simultaneously pressing the QUIET/SETUP
key. This will put printer in CONFIGURATION mode.
4. Press the REV LN FEED key until field "91" appears and "TEST PRINT
PATTERN" appears in display window.
5. Press the ON LINE key to activate test printing.
6. To stop test printing press ON LINE key once again.
Cover Removal
Lift at both front corners of printer, moving them up and back until top cover is in a
resting position at approximately a 90 degree angle.
Configuration
General Users SET-UP Mode
Be sure printer is offline and press the QUIET/SETUP button. The display will
reflect "USER NUMBER" and the current user number will appear.
Configuration for System Managers or Operators
Ensure printer is offline then hold down RESET and QUIET/SETUP key simultane-
ously. The display will reflect "USER NUMBER" and the current user number will
appear.
Once in USER NUMBER mode you have to select a number.
1. Use FORM FEED button to advance one User Number at a time.
2. Press TEAR FORM button to back up one User Number at a time.
3. Once a USER NUMBER is selected you can either go back to offline state or
into FIELD mode.
Offline State
Press ON LINE or QUIET/SET-UP button to place printer back offline.

Field Mode
Press either FWD LN FEED or REV LN FEED button to activate FIELD Mode. In
this mode the buttons/keys function as follows:
ON LINE: Prints attribute values and then puts printer offline.
FWD LN FEED: (Field Scroll Forward) Advances to next field.
FORM FEED: (Menu Scroll Forward) Selects next menu choice for current field.
RESET (Clear) Resets this User Number attribute list to its last-saved working
values.
QUIET/SET-UP: (Save) Exits FIELD mode, saves choices, puts printer offline.
REV LN FEED: (Field Scroll Backward) Backs up one field.
TEAR FORM: (Menu Scroll Backward) Moves to lower number menu choice.
Selecting an Attribute Field
1. Ensure printer is offline.
2. Press QUIET/SET-UP button once to attain SET-UP mode.
3. Press FORM FEED button until "User Number 3" appears in display window.
4. Press FWD LN FEED button until the desired field is reached. Display should
have the following format:
3-13/1 CPI
MENU ITEM: Working value 1 cpi.
ATTRIBUTE FIELD:Field 13 is Character Pitch
USER NUMBER IS 3
5. To change menu items press FORM FEED button.
Changing Attribute Fields
1. Ensure printer is offline.
2. Press QUIET/SET-UP button to establish SET-UP mode.
3. Press either FORM FEED or TEAR FORM button to toggle between User
Number selections (selections range between 0 and 3).
4. Press FWD LN FEED to activate FIELD mode.
5. Use FWD LN FEED or REV LN FEED buttons to toggle between field
selections.
6. Use either FWD LN FEED or TEAR FORM button to select desired menu
item.
7. Exit FIELD mode by pressing QUIET/SET-UP button.
Changing to IBM Emulation Mode
1. Place printer in either SET-UP or CONFIGURATION mode.
2. Press FORM FEED button to enter User Number selections. Choose a User
Number.
Note:
Numbers 0 through 2 are stored in non-volatile memory where con-
tents are not lost when printer is turned off. User Number 3 is a "scratch" list
designed for frequent temporary changes.
3. Press FWD LN FEED button to access Attribute Field Selection and choose
"00"(Emulation Mode) and menu item "01" (IBM Emulation Mode).
4. Choose attribute field "01" (Emulation level); choose menu item "01" (IBM
Emulation Mode).
5. Press QUIET/SET-UP button to exit session.

Changing to DEC Emulation Mode

Display Codes for DEC Emulation
The following codes and numbers differ from IBM and Epson emulation, but all other
codes are identical.
1. Place printer in either SET-UP or CONFIGURATION mode.
2. Press FORM FEED button to enter User Number selections. Choose a User
Number.

Error Codes
The message "DATA IN BUFFER" may appear in display window signifying that
there is still data stored in buffer that needs to be released. Press the RESET
button to clear out existing information in buffer and allow printer to enter SETUP
mode.
Adjustments
Paper Thickness lever (located on top left side of printer):
The symbol with multiple sheets is used to print out multiple forms as well as envel-
opes. The nine positions between multiple forms and single sheet forms are used
according to paper thickness. Middle location settings are designated for four- to
six-part forms. One line which is wider than the others shown is used for standard
continuous or cut-sheet paper.
