■Cleaning–Unplug the unit from the wall outlet before cleaning. The unit should be cleaned

● INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing Otone Audio’s Soundship SMART Docking Station with Bluetooth
connectivity. Your new audio system combines great audio performance and user-friendly
operation with cutting edge style.
The interchangeable connectors can be swapped to suit your device, or the dock can also be
used as a desktop charging stand.
Lightening, 30 pin and micro USB connectors mean it's compatible with most Apple and
Android Smartphones and tablets and Bluetooth functionality takes care of the rest, so
whatever device you have, you’re covered.
By detaching the dock, it can be used as a desk stand, this can then be connected to either
the Soundship base or any laptop or PC via the USB cableto charge your device.

● GETTING STARTED
Soundship Smart Dock has been designed to be as simple as possible to use. Please follow
these instructions to get the best from your speaker.
● FIRST-TIME SETUP
1.Connect UK plug adaptor to main power unit.
2. Insert mains plug into wall socket
3. Insert connector in to rear of speaker
4. Switch on wall socket; switch on speaker unit
5. To use the FM radio insert the aerial into the aerial socket
6. To use the 3.5mm AUX input insert 3.5mm cable into AUX IN jack

● Switching on and Connecting to Bluetooth
• For first time installation you will need to flick the switch on the rear of the speaker unit to the
‘ON’ position, this will place it into ‘STANDBY’ mode, indicated by a red light on the front left
of the speaker
• To power on the speaker, simply press the power button either on the remote control or on
control panel of the speaker unit itself. The display will read "HELLO".
The speaker will ‘Beep’ once to indicate it has been powered on and again when it is turned off.
Soundship has five play modes which can be accessed through a circular menu system by
pressing the ‘MODE’ button to the left of the display. The default mode is Bluetooth, the other
modes can be accessed in the order below:
BLUETOOTH – IPOD – FM – AUX – CLOCK – BLUETOOTH
During normal usage, the system will remember the mode status before it is turned off. When
the system is turned on again, the previous mode status will continue to operate. However,
each time the power is unplugged from the socket, the system will enter into the Bluetooth
mode once the system is turned on again.
• When in Bluetooth mode, the speaker will automatically go into Bluetooth discovery mode,
this is indicated by two audible ‘beeps’ and the word ‘PAIRING’ on the speaker display.
• To pair the speaker to your SmartPhone or other Bluetooth enabled audio device, ensure that
your device has Bluetooth switched on (you may need to go into your device settings to switch this on).
• Once your speaker has been paired successfully it will automatically attempt to pair with the same
audio device each time you power on your speaker. To switch audio sources, either disable Bluetooth
on the paired device or use the device's settings to 'Forget device'.

• Next, using your phone settings, ‘Scan for devices’. This will list all available Bluetooth
devices in the local area.
• Choose Soundship from the menu and press ‘Pair’
• There should be no need to enter a passcode, Soundship will pair automatically.
However, if your device does ask for a code the default is 0000.
• You phone will display ‘Connected’ once the speaker is paired and the speaker will
make a 'beep beep' sound to confirm the connection.

• Alternatively you can unpair your device by holding down the Bluetooth button on the remote control for
5 seconds
● Volume Operation
• Press the Vol+ Key to increase the volume.
• Press the Vol- Key to decrease the volume.
● Mute Function
• In normal usage, press Mute on the remote control to activate the mute function (no audio output when
mute function is active). When mute function is active, all the key functions will be locked (except Mute,
Vol+ and Vol- keys). The “MUTE” icon will flash on the screen.
• Press Mute again to cancel the mute function. The screen will show the current volume for 1 second
and resume back to the normal operation mode display.
Pressing Vol+ or Vol- on either the speaker or the remote will also cancel the Mute function.
● iPod Operation
• Press MODE to select iPod mode.
‘IPOD’ will be displayed on the screen to indicate the mode has been selected.
● Installing the Dock
• To use the docking feature, you will firstly need to remove the flat docking cover, do this by gentle
pushing down on one side of the cover, this will cause the other side to raise up. Now gentle insert a
fingernail or other thin object under the cover and lift it off.
• Select the correct connector for your model phone (there is an option for iPhone 30 pin, iPhone
Lightening and Micro USB).
• On the underside of the dock there are two sliding buttons; pinch these together to open the connector
clips and at the same time insert the phone connector into the slot in the topside of the dock, then
release the buttons. The connector will now be securely inserted in the dock. Note: The connector can
only be placed in one way, please look to align the notch correctly.
*Now you can place the dock into the slot on the top of the main speaker. 8
a.The screen will show the volume level for one second (levels go from 0 to 40, with 40
being the maximum).
a.When volume is reduced to the minimum volume level (Volume ‘0’), the speaker will
change to Mute mode

● Menu, Up, Down and OK keys
There are four dedicated keys on the remote for iPod/iPhone control (Menu, Up, Down and OK)
● FM Radio Operation
● Manual tuning for FM:
• Press >> to increase frequency by one step.
• Press << to decrease frequency by one step.
● Saving preset FM station:
• Press and hold >> for more than 1 second will start the auto forward tuning.
• Press and hold << for more than 1 second will start the auto backward tuning.
• The tuning frequency will auto increase (or decrease) when auto tuning, the
frequency will auto stop when it receives the next station signal.
● Auto tuning for FM:
• Press PRESET to start the save mode. The station number on the screen will flash.
• Press >> or << to select the preset station number, the preset station number will be flashing
during this time.
• Press PRESET to confirm the selection. After the selection is confirmed, the preset station
number will be shown on the screen.
• If nothing is entered within 5 seconds, the system will leave the saving mode.
● Recall preset FM station:
• When in FM mode press UP or Down key on the remote to select the preset station.
• The preset station number will be shown on the screen.
• To select the preset station press OK 9
( a ) Menu key is used to return to one level up on the menu.
( b ) Up key is used to move up one item in the menu.
( c ) Down key is used to move down one item in the menu.
( d ) OK key is used to confirm selection.
Press MODE to select FM mode.
The tuner frequency will be shown on the screen.

● AUX stereo Line-in
• Soundship Micro also offers a 3.5mm AUX line-in jack for use with audio devices not
equipped with Bluetooth or a compatible docking connector.
• Simply plug one end of your 3.5mm cable to your audio device’s headphone jack and the
other end to the speaker.
• Line-in mode will take priority over Bluetooth mode, to return to Bluetooth, just unplug the
3.5mm cable.
● Setting the clock, alarm and sleep:
• Clock setting:
Press CLOCK on remote control to select clock
adjustment mode.
“12H” or “24H” will be displayed on the screen.
Note: This will only work when the speaker is in Clock mode
Once in clock setting mode, and “ 12H ” is flashing on the display press >> or << to
change to “ 24H “ . Then press CLOCK again to confirm the 12H / 24H mode.
Then the hour indication will flash on the screen. Press >> or << to select the time and
press CLOCK to confirm the selection.
After confirming the hour selection, the minute indication will flash on the screen. Press
>> or << to select the minute and press CLOCK to confirm the selection.
Note: During the time setting process if nothing is entered within 5 seconds, the system
will leave the setting mode.
For “ 12H “ mode, AM or PM will be shown on the display.
• Alarm Setting:
Press ALARM on the remote control to select alarm setting mode.
“ON” or “OFF” will be shown on the screen.
Once in alarm setting mode, and “ ON ” or “OFF” is flashing on the display,
press >> or << to change to “ OFF “ or “ON” .
Press ALARM again to select the mode. ON / OFF
Then the hour indication will flash on the screen. Press >> or << to select the time and
press ALARM to confirm the selection.

● EQ setting:
After confirming the hour selection, the minute indication will flash on the screen.
Press >> or << to select the minute and press ALARM to confirm the selection.
Note: During the alarm setting process if nothing is entered within 5 seconds, the
system will leave the setting mode.
When the time on the clock reaches the time set on the alarm (and the alarm
mode is ON), the “Beep” sound will be played. If the Soundship is in iPod,
Bluetooth, FM or AUX modes then the speaker will play in the selected mode.
To stop the alarm press the alarm button on the remote control.
• Sleep time setting:
Press SLEEP on the remote control to select sleep setting mode.
Note: This function will not work when in clock mode)
Preset sleep time will be shown on the screen.
Once in sleep setting mode, and preset sleep time is flashing on the display,
press >> or << to change the sleep time.
Press SLEEP again to confirm the setting.
Note: During the sleep setting process if nothing is entered within 5 seconds,
the system will leave the setting mode.
If sleep time set to 0, sleep function will not be activated.
Press the EQ on the remote control to select the EQ setting mode.
The “EQ” icon will be shown on the screen.
Once in EQ setting mode, and the current EQ setting is flashing on the display
(e.g. FLAT), press the EQ button again to scroll through the other settings.
There are 6 EQ settings to choose from:
Once you have chosen your preferred EQ setting, do not press the button
again and it will leave the setting mode and revert to play mode.

● Dimmer
• When in any mode you can press the DIMMER button on the remote control to control the
brightness speaker display.
• Press the DIMMER on the remote control to select the dimmer setting mode.
• The “DIM” icon will be shown on the display.
• There are 4 levels of brightness to choose from, with DIM 3 being the brightest, choose your
preference by scrolling through them using the >> and << buttons.
● Charging your Smartphone
• Soundship has been designed to dock iPhone and iPad devices as well as any device with a
Micro USB connector.
• The connectors on the docking stand are interchangeable, simply choose the connector to
match your device and insert it into the docking stand base.
• Now you can dock your SmartPhone onto the connector and the device will start to charge.
• Alternatively you can create a desktop charging stand by removing the docking stand from
the main body of the speaker. To do this, hold either side of the clear plastic support and
slowly lift the dock whilst gently rocking it from side to side.
• To continue charging your device use a Micro USB cable to connect between the USB
connector on the rear of the speaker unit and the rear of the dock.

There is no power.
There is no sound.
I hear buzzing
or humming.
• Press the POWER button on the remote control or on the front of your
speaker. The display should scroll "HELLO" then go into the last playback
mode you used.
• Eusure the power cord is securely connected.
• Ensure the light on the power adapter is glowing green.
• Plug a different device into the electrical outlet to verify that the outlet is
working correctly.
• Increase the volume. Press Volume Up on the remote control or on the
front of your speaker
• Press MUTE on the remote to ensure the speaker is not muted.
• Press MODE on the remote control or on the front of your speaker to
select a different input source.
• If you are trying to use the 3.5mm output from your TV, ensure it is the
OUTPUT connector you are using. Some TVs use 3.5 mm audio
INPUT for devices such as computers.
• Your TV may be set to variable audio output. Confirm that the audio
output setting is set to FIXED or STANDARD, not VARIABLE. Consult
your TV’s user manuel for more detailed information.
• If trying to use Bluetooth mode, check that Bluetooth is properly connected
and the LED indicator light is in solid blue state. Also check that the volume
level is not set too low or the mute button has been pressed.
• Ensure all cables and wires are securely connected.
• Connect a different source device (MP3 player, Smartphone, TV etc) to
see if the buzzing persists. If it does not, the problem may be with the
original device.
• Check that your audio source volume is not set at 100% as this can
cause distortion. Set the volume to between 70-75% and use the volume
control on your speaker as the master volume control.
● HELP & TROUBLESHOOTING
1. The system should not be placed in hot, humid environment should not
be exposed to rain or subjected to strong impact.
2. There are no customer-serviceable parts in this product, to prevent
electric shock and other accidents do not try to service this product
yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
3. If you accidentally spill liquid on or in any part of the speaker, you should
immediately switch off the power, and then arrange for it to be checked by
qualified service personnel before you use it again.
4. When connecting the system to a source with a large signal volume, do
not set the input on the source to maximum, it should be set to the
level where no distortion can be detected.
5. If you are not going to use your speaker for an extended period
of time always switch off the power at the mains power socket.
