Packet Power
Data Receiver gateway P2-G1
Installation manual
Introduction
The P2-G1 Data Receiver Gateway receives power usage data
from Packet power Monitoring Nodes and forwards them to
Packet Power host software running on a host PC. Prior to
connecting the gateway please make sure the appropriate Packet
power software data collection software is installed on the host
PC.
Disclaimer
Installation of Packet Power monitoring nodes involves the
disconnection of power supply cables. This means that power flow
to your devices has to be interrupted for extended periods of time.
Disconnecting live power supply cables on computing equipment
and other electrical devices may lead to interruption of service,
data loss, equipment damage and other potential losses. Packet
Power is not reponsible for any losses incurred due to power
interruptions during monitoring node installation. The customer is
reponsible for understanding and mitigating any consequences of
interrupting and re-starting power flow to any equipment during
the installation process. Installation should only be performed by
personell otherwise authorized to manage power conections to the
equipment to be monitored. Dual-powered (“A & B”) devices can
in some cases be connected live, with one side (e.g. “A”) being
replaced first followed by the other side (e.g. “B”), however at any
time one of the power supplies is disconnected the redundancy of
a dual power supply and all of the protections it provides against
failure are compromised. You are responsible for completely
understanding this risk and taking responsibility for any
consequences of a power loss while connecting power cables.
Installation
The gateway can be connected to any available USB port on the
host computer. Once connected, the host PC may automatically
load the appropriate USB drivers. Once the drivers are installed,
the gateway is ready for use with the host data collection software.
