The AJ-D215 records for up to 184 minutes
on a single DVCPRO large cassette
(AJ-5P92L)*. This lets you shoot even long
events without switching tapes, while
enjoying a high level of reliability because
DVCPRO
’ s metal particle tape is renowned
in the broadcasting industry for durability
and stability.
* For AJ-5P92L cassette tapes, use a VCR supporting DVCPRO
(25Mbps) 184 minutes tapes.
High-Density 1/3" IT 3-CCD
This 3-CCD unit with double-density pixel
distribution provides superior resolution,
high S/N ratio, outstanding sensitivity and a
wide dynamic range. Combined with the
gapless dichronic prism, it delivers
razor-sharp images and true-to-life color.
5-Lux Shooting Illumination
A CCD with on-chip lens and +18 dB
gain-up let you take quality shots in
lighting as low as 5 lux. Either of two
gain-up patterns can be selected —
0/+6/+12 dB, and 0/+9/+18 dB.
Built-in ND Filter
The AJ-D215's 1/16 ND filter is set by
simply sliding it into or out of position. It
ensures stable picture quality even when
shooting outdoors under bright sunlight.
Auto White Balance — Preset/Memory/ATW
The AJ-D215 is factory-preset with three
white balance settings: for use indoors,
outdoors, and under fluorescent lights. You
can store additional settings in memory for
quick recall, and an ATW setting is
available.
Accepts 1/3" Lens
The AJ-D215 accepts most high-
performance, professional 1/3" bayonet
lenses. An optional lens adaptor also
allows the use of many 1/2" lenses.
High-Resolution 1.5" EVF
The AJ-D215 has a large, 600-line B/W
viewfinder. A 3-D mechanism provides
quick adjustment for use by different operators.
A 50-mm-diameter detachable eyepiece
and adjustable diopter accommodate
operators who wear prescription eyeglasses.
DVCPRO: Superior Digital Recording
Preferred by broadcasters around the
world, DVCPRO records digital component
signals across a 5.75-MHz (Y) video
bandwidth, with a video S/N ratio of 55 dB.
The AJ-D215’s DVCPRO digital recording
with error correction delivers outstanding
picture quality and reliability. The AJ-D215
offers superb audio, too, thanks to a 48-kHz
sampling, 16-bit recording, 2-channel PCM
digital system.
DVCPRO Terminal (IEEE 1394)
Interface Board (Option)
This optional IEEE 1394 based DVCPRO
terminal (AJ-YAD210P) lets you connect to
a back-up DVCPRO VCR for digital
dubbing with superior picture and sound
quality. Unlike the interface of DV home-
use models, the audio signal is locked to
prevent lags.
Playback with No Adaptor Necessary
View pictures in black and white on the
viewfinder, or in full color on an external
TV monitor via VIDEO OUT. The field
team can check the pictures on-site or do
microwave transmission to another station.
One-Touch Camera Status Report
Simply touch a button to display a list of all
switch settings in the viewfinder. The
AJ-D215 can be programmed to display
only the settings the operator wants to
monitor. The status report provides an
overall system check before shooting
begins.
Easy Set-Up, Easy Maintenance, Digital
Signal Processing
The AJ-D215 is easy to set up and adjust —
even on location — and requires little
maintenance. The digital circuitry ensures
that characteristics remain stable regardless
of temperature changes, aging and
vibration.
Manual Audio Level
Separate dials for channels 1 and 2 let you
manually set the audio recording level
when desired.
Light Weight, Low Power Consumption
The AJ-D215 weighs only 13 lbs. in full
operating condition (with lens, EVF, battery
and cassette). Power consumption is 16 W
or less when recording.
Compatible with Anton/Bauer Digital
Battery
A gold mount plate allows use of an
Anton/Bauer digital battery system. The
remaining power is shown in the
viewfinder. When using an Anton/Bauer
Ultra Light, the lighting on/off and
recording start/stop can be linked.

broadcasting industry for superior
digital pictures, sound and reliability.
This high cost-performance unit lets
you record for up to 184 minutes on a
single tape, making it ideal for shooting
long events such as weddings,
performances and long presentations.
The AJ-D215 is also equipped for
convenience. It comes with a built-in
ND filter that’s turned on and off by a
simple slide switch, allowing you to
continue shooting as you move
indoors or outdoors without worrying
about the lighting. Adding the optional
DVCPRO Terminal (IEEE 1394)
interface enables connection to a
DVCPRO VCR for use as a digital
backup with excellent picture quality.
