The Panafax UF-880
For Those Who Can't Wait For The Future
Remember the anticipation felt when the fax
industry introduced the 14.4 kbps modem
at the beginning of the ’90s? Remember the
inconceivable vision of cutting transmission
time in half – while saving a bundle of
money on communication costs? Get ready
to experience the future head-on with the
super-fast V.34 kbps modem and new
JBIG compression protocol of the
Panafax UF-880!
Able to transmit a standard page in less
than three seconds*1, the UF-880
PC/LAN-Compatible Laser Fax keeps
transmission costs down, and office pro-
ductivity up! The UF-880 complies with the
new international standard for JBIG
compression, which can compress halftone
and black and white documents about five
times more efficiently than conventional
compressions operating under optimum
conditions.
ITU-T SUB-Address transmission
quickly gets a SUB-addressed fax directly
to an individual PC on a network and/or a
pre-programmed fax, and documents
received into the UF-880’s memory can be
re-directed to a pre-registered remote fax
using Fax Forward! For managing your
memory files more efficiently, the Edit File
Mode lets you view information about the
files on the LCD display, or you can print
them out. To protect all those files stored in
memory, the UF-880 saves documents for
up to one hour. And for extended periods of
time – or to cover an entire weekend – an
optional 72-hour document memory
backup battery is available.
Productivity is never a problem for the
UF-880, no matter how big a job may be! A
hefty 50-page ADF eliminates the need to
hand-feed large amounts of pages, and you
can be productive right from the start with a
standard memory of up to 70 pages*1.
Productivity doesn’t have to stop when
business demands increase. Various
optional memory cards (1, 2, 4, or 8
MB) can be installed by the user in sec-
onds, and the paper supply will rarely have
to be replaced when you add optional uni-
versal (letter or legal) paper feed units equal-
ing a 1,000 sheet paper capacity!
With all this work going on, the last thing
you need is to stop what you’re doing to
sort incoming faxes or add more messy
toner! The UF-880 solves both “production
stoppers” quickly and easily; it prints incom-
ing page data stored in memory last page
first for instant collating, and supply mainte-
nance is literally a snap with an all-in-one
print cartridge that yields up to 10,000
pages*2.
For total Flexibility, add the optional
Parallel Port Interface Kit and the
HydraFax®software†† to your UF880,
so it can be transformed into a PC-net-
worked, multifunctional communica-
tions station or a 400 x 400 dpi fully
functional Windows®-compatible
laser printer with a 10ppm print speed!
More than just a fax, the UF-880 is
the ultimate office machine!

*1 Transmission time applies to memory transmission of text
data with JBIG compression using only ITU-T Image No. 1
between the same models at modem speeds over 28.8
kbps. Transmission time may vary in actual usage.
Usually public telephone lines can support only 28.8 kbps
or lower communication speed. Via PBX, transmission
speed may fall back to a lower speed.
*2 Based on ITU-T Image No. 1 scanned
in Standard Mode.
*3 Panafax proprietary feature works only
with selected Panafax machines.
*4 Dimensions and weight are approximate.
*Super G3 is the classification given to a type of facsimile that
conforms to the 33.6 kbps transmission method standard-
ized in accordance with the ITU-T V.34 proposal.
