Setting Up the Halo Collar
Before you can use the Halo system,you mustsetup the collar.
1 Chargethe HaloCollar(Charging theHaloCollar).
2 Turn on the HaloCollar(TurningOn the Collar).
3 Add the HaloCollarto your account using theHaloApp (PairingaHaloCollar
with the HaloApp).
4 Attach the HaloCollarto the provided collarstrapor to your own collarstrap
(Attaching the HaloCollarto the Strap).

Installing the Halo Collar Strap
Each Halo Collaris shippedwithaHalostrap. Your Halostrap is madefrom
extremelydurablematerial,which will notretain water, smellsorbacteria,and is
easyto clean.
When you orderedyour Halocollar,it was shippedwitha certainlengthstrap
based on your dog’s neck size. To install the strap, follow these instructions:
1 Fit andadjustyour snap/clip-style strap to your dog’s neck before starting
2 Open the two RetentionLoops byunscrewing thetwothumbscrews and
releasing thatend of each loop.
3 Slidethe Halostrapin placeandalignthe two retentionholes withthe contact
tip locations ontheHaloCollar
4 Close andsecurethetwo Retention Loops byclosing eachRetentionLoop
and hand-tighteningeach thumb screw. Do not overtighten or tighten with a
tool.
5 Screw inand securethedesiredcontacttips as describedhere:
Selecting and Installing the Contact Tips
While your Halo collar is shipped with ‘blank’ contact tips, for best results with
your Halocollar,use the shortor long-lengthcontacttips to enablestatic-based
feedback. Static basedfeedbackhas two mainpurposes –duringinitialtraining,
they willmoreeffectively train your dogto respond tothe audible ortactile

‘warning-level feedback.’ Quickly, your dog will respond to just the audible or
tactile warning as its primary feedback. However, based on your dog(s)’ energy
level, even a well-trained dog mayget distractedand ignore awarning;the static
feedback will overcome even significant distractions and may save your dog’s life.
To selectthe correct contact tips,consideryour dog's coat.
1 Select the correct contact tip length for your dog's coat type:
•For dogs withthicker coats,use the longercontact tips.
•For dogs withshortercoats,use the shortercontact tips.
2 Twistthe contact tips throughthe strap andinto the screw-holesinthecollar.
3 Tightenby handonly (notools), and makesurenotto overtighten.
4 When you put the HaloCollaron your dog,makesurethe contact tips are
touching the right position on your dog’s neck.
SAFETY NOTE: Leash can only be used with Halo Collar when ‘Blank’
contact tips are used. Do NOT use leash with Halo Collar while short or long
electrodes areinstalled.
Fitting the Halo Collar on Your Dog
CAUTION
To prevent irritationfrom the contact tips, removethe collarfor at leasteight
hours outof every 24-hourperiod.
This HaloCollaris not intended for humanuse.Do notattempt to use it on any
person.
NOTICE
Before you put the HaloCollaron your dog,remove it from the charger.
In order to provide properfeedbackto your dog, the strapandHaloCollarmustfit
your dogproperly. If the collaris too loose orpositionedincorrectly,feedback
maybe inconsistent.This candelayor prevent successful training.
1 Placethe HaloCollararound the middleofyour dog's neck.
2 Position theHaloCollarat the front of your dog's neck,with the USB port
facingtoward your dog's chinand the contact tips touchingthe skin.
3 Tightenthe strapso that it is securelyaroundyour dog's neckandfastenthe
buckle. You shouldbe able to fit no morethan onefinger betweenthecollar
strap and your dog’s neck.
NOTE: The collarshouldfittightly and shouldnotbe able to rotate or slideon
your dog's neck.Your dogmustbeable to swallowfood andwaternormally.
You shouldobserve your dog's behaviorto verify that the collaris not too tight.

4 Wigglethe HaloCollarto work the contact tips throughyour dog's coat.
NOTE: The contact tips musthavecontact withyour dog's skinto beeffective.
Modifying or Replacing the Halo Collar Strap
If you wish to replace the strap with a ‘belt-buckle style’ strap, follow these
instructions:
1 Unscrew and remove –but keep - the Halo Collar’s installed contact tips.
(If a Halo strapis installed,followsteps 2-4 toremoveit first:)
2 Open the two RetentionLoops byunscrewing thetwothumbscrews and
releasing thatend of each loop.
3 Removethe Halostrapcarefullyfrom eachRetention Loop
4 Close andsecurethetwo Retention Loops byrepositioningeachRetention
Loopin place andhand-tighteningeachthumbscrew. Donotovertighten.
5 Using theHalo-providedstrap as aguide,punchtwo (2) retentionholes in
your own collarat the same lengthand same position,as measuredfrom the
buckle-end
6 Slidethe newstrap throughthe Retention Loops untilthetwo retentionholes
alignwiththe contact tip locations onthe HaloCollar
7 Screw inand secure theoriginalcontacttips.
If you wish to replace the strap with a ‘snap/clip-style’ strap, follow these
instructions:
1 Fit andadjustyour snap/clip-style strap to your dog’s neck before starting
2 Unscrew and remove –but keep - the Halo Collar’s installed contact tips
3 Open the two RetentionLoops byunscrewing thetwothumbscrews and
releasing thatend of each loop.
4 Removethe Halostrapcarefullyfrom eachRetention Loop
5 Using theHalo-providedstrap as aguide,punchtwo (2) retention holes in
your own collarat the same lengthand same position,as measuredfrom the
buckle-end.
NOTE: this mayrequire punching each hole throughtwolayers of your
‘snap/clip-type’ strap. If so, the ‘snap/clip-style’ strap will not be adjustable.
6 Slidethe newstrap in placeand alignthetwo retentionholes withthe contact
tip locations ontheHaloCollar
7 Close andsecurethetwo Retention Loops byclosing eachRetentionLoop
andhand-tighteningeach thumb screw.
8 Screw inand secure theoriginalcontacttips.

Charging the Halo Collar NOTICE
To prevent corrosion,thoroughlydrythe USB-C port on the HaloCollarandthe
surroundingareabefore pluggingin the chargingcord
Unplugthe chargingcord before you fasten the Halo Collarto your dog.
You shouldfullychargethe battery before you usethe HaloCollarfor the first
time.Chargingafully depleted battery takes abouttwo hours.
The HaloCollardoes notchargewhenoutside the temperature range of 0°to
40°C(32°to 104°F).
1 Assembletheprovidedchargingsystem bypluggingtheUSB-A (rectangular)
endof the cable intothe provided AC/DC chargingblock.
2 Plugthe AC/DC charging blockinto a wallpowersource thatis locatedin a
convenientlocationfor regular, nightlycharging
3 To chargethe collar, access theUSB-Creceptacle/porton your HaloCollar
by liftingthe tab of the USB-CCover flap. NOTE: Do NOT unscrewtheflap
from the collar.
4 Insertthe USB-C (rounded)plug on the end of the chargingcableintothe port
on the collar. Orientation of the plugdoes notmatter. The Battery/Charge
status LEDwillblinkquicklyGREEN whilethe collaris charging.
5 After the status LED turns solidgreen,theHaloCollaris charged. You may
remove the chargingcordfrom the Halo Collar.
NOTE: The USB-C port is weatherproof. However, to prevent dirt build-up,be
sureto replacethe USB port cover onthe collareach timeyou remove the
chargingcordfrom the collar.
Turning On the Halo Collar
•Press the Powerbutton for about 2 seconds and release. Notethat the
LogoLED will beginto blink.
Turning Off the Halo Collar
•Press and hold thePower button for about6 seconds. Then,release the
button and note that LogoLED remains off.
Understanding the Halo Collar LED’s
There arethree LEDs on your Halo collar.

SAFETY NOTE: When GPS signal is poor (fast red blink on collar), collar
will NOT provide fence feedback to your dog. Be sure that Red LED is off
when letting your dog roam outside tomake sure it is properlycontained byits
HaloFence.
•The Battery/Charge LED provides a charge warningwhenthecollaris
unplugged,andprovides achargingindicatorwhenthecollarpluggedin
for charging.See “Checking the Battery Charge Level of the Halo Collar”
Using the Halo App with Your Halo Collar(s)
You canuseany numberofHaloCollars withyour Halomobileapp.
Each HaloCollarmustbeassignedtoadog using the Halo mobileappbeforeit
can be used.Duringthe collarandpet configuration process,eachdogis also
associatedwithauniquecolorin the app. The Logo LED of eachcollarwillblink
in the designated dog’s color at a rate determined by the mode (as shown in the
tableabove).
Pairing a Halo Collar with the Halo App
●Turn on the HaloCollarandlaunch the Halo app.
●Followthe instructions intheHaloappto registerandlogin to the app.
●Whileadding your dog(s)to the Halo app, you willbeaskedto choose a
uniquecolorfor each dog. This willhelp you track which collarbelongs to
whichdogand morequicklyidentify eachdog inthe Haloapp.
●When addingaCollarto your accountwith the Haloapp, selectthedesired
Collar by scanning the Collar’s QR code or typing in the Collar seria lnumber.
If the strapis alreadyinstalled,theQR codemaybe hidden;you mayfind a
second copy of the QR code on the Halo collar’s original package.
●For improvedbattery life andindoorcommunication,itis strongly
recommendedtoconfigure theCollarto connect to your homeWi-Fi.
●Followthe in-apptrainingprocess to learn howto properlytrainyour dog(s)
andhow to usethe HaloCollar,includingconfiguration of each dog’s specific
feedbackandencouragements(intheTraining tab of the Haloapp).

Managing Multiple Halo Collars
As you addeach dogto your Haloapp andassignaHaloCollarto eachone,
your dogs willappearas icons ontheMap View on the MyMap tab. Whileon
MyMap, you can individuallyselecteach pet to:
●View current location and status, including each Halo Collar’s battery level
and internet connection status
●View dailyactivity and safetymetrics for each dog
●Changeyour HaloCollar’s mode
●Sendinstantencouragements orfeedbacktoyour dog
To set or changeindividualHalocollarsettings,selecttheSettings tabin the
Haloappand selectCollars.
Here you can:

●ConfigureHaloCollarWi-Fisettings

Halo Dog Training
The Halosolutionis as muchabouttrainingyouand your dog as it is about dog
containmentandsafety. The uniqueHalotraining programs,designed byCesar
Millan, are whatwill ultimatelydetermine theeffectiveness of the Halo system,
includingourHalo UserTraining course,andourintroductoryHaloPet Training
course. In addition, Cesar Millan’s years of training expertise have defined the
functionalityof the Halosystem inadditionto our unique,simpleand proven
trainingprograms.
Halotraining is bestperformedusingtheHaloapp.

Each userof the app(each member ofthe family) is stronglyencouragedtotake
the HaloUserTrainingcourse.
Once at leastone familymemberhas completedHaloUserTraining,he/shemay
begin training each individual dogusing theintroductoryHalo Pet Training
program. Trainingis designedtobe fun for you andyour dog(s). You should
train onedogat a time. As you progress throughtheHaloDogTrainingprogram,
you mayquicklyseeresults;however,it often takes about21 days for new
behaviors to becomelifelonghabits,soitis importantto reinforce the trainingas
described.
Feedback Intensities and Methods
You can use several methods to correct your dog. Configure each dog’s
feedbacksettings byselectingyourdog in the Trainingtab andclickingon
Settings.
The Halosystem provides fourprimarymethods. Foraudible andstatic
stimulation,you can alsoadjustthevolume/intensitylevel.
Tone: Activates an audible tone. Some tones can only be heard by dogs’
sensitivehearing. Atone can be usedas eitheranencouragement or
feedback,dependingonyour trainingneeds.
Voice: Activates a pre-recordedoruser-recorded audioclip.Avocal cue canbe
usedas eitheranencouragementorfeedback,dependingon yourtraining
needs.
Vibration: Applies vibration instead ofstimulationto your dog, in selected
vibration patterns. The effectiveness of vibration mayvary basedon your
dog's temperamentandexperience.
Static feedback: Applies brief staticstimulationatthe designatedintensitylevel.
Choosing the Correct Intensity Level
1 Usethe Haloappto selectthe desired soundorvibe or static stimulation.
Then, setthe intensityto the lowestlevel (ChangingtheIntensityLevel).
2 Using the Halo app, press the “Test on Collar” button.
3 Observe your dog for a reaction, suchas aheadshake,neck movement,or
justa change inexpression.

Sometimesdogs willvocalize dueto the surpriseofthe electricalstimulation.If
your dogvocalizes morethanonce, the intensitylevel is too high.
The intensitylevel that causes a slightbutrecognizablereactionis your dog's
baselinelevel forbeginningcollartraining. Do not run this testagain.
After you begin training, your dog’s performance guides your intensity selection.
As your dogadvances in training,you mayneed to changethe level depending
uponthe training results.
How and When the Halo Collar Applies Feedback
Halo Fences and Halo Beacons
The HaloCollarcanbe configured(using theHaloapp)with one or more fences
andis also shipped withoneHaloBeacon. Halo Fences andHalo Beacons are
managedon-board theHaloCollar,so the Halo Collarwill enforcethe
boundaries usingpet-specificfeedbackevenwith no Internet access.
Halo Fences: Usethe Haloapp to create your own outdoorfences that workjust
likeunderground wired fences -but with nothingto install. Press theFind
button onthe the MyMap tab, andthen the Add Fence button. You can create
andnameupto 20fences, eachwith up to 20fence posts. Placeeachfence
postby eitherwalkingwithone of your collars in-hand,orby touchingyour
fingeron the map. Your HaloFences are downloadedintoeachofyour Halo
Collars andareenforcedwhenyou enableFences Onmodefor your dog(s).
Halo Beacons: Usethesebatteryor USB-wall-adapter-powereddevices tokeep
your dog(s)awayfrom undesirableareas -inside oroutsideyourhouse -such
as the kitchenor bedroom. Or, use a Halo Beacon justas a notification
system,suchas whenyour dogis by the backdoor. You alsowillusetheone
providedHaloBeaconduring Pet Trainingas thefirst steptowards training
rules,boundariesandlimitations. Beacons are enforced wheneveryou
enableBeacons Onmodefor your dog(s).
Battery-Powered Halo Beacon from Kit (including disassembled view)
Turn on the HaloBeacon by pressingon thehalologoandholdingfor3 seconds
untilthe blueLED turns on - then release. To turn off, holddownagainfor 3
seconds -andconfirm that - after releasing -the blue ‘power’ LED blinks 5 times.
The Halo Beacon from your kit uses a replaceable calculator’ -styleCR2025
battery. Use thedisassembledview to assistwithbattery replacement.
Automatic Feedback
Warning: Applies your specified ‘Warning-Level’ feedback when your dog gets
closeto a fenceboundaryor a Keep-Away Beaconfor the first two seconds.
Boundary: If your dog has not yet left a fence but it ignores the Warningfor
more than two seconds, the Halo Collar will activate ‘Boundary’ fee dback.
Emergency: If your dogcrosses thefence line andcontinues movingaway
from the fence, or if it continues toignore Boundaryfeedbacknear a Beacon,
the HaloCollarapplies anEmergencyFeedbackperiodicallyuntilyour dog
stops orturns back.

Positive Feedback: If your dogstarts to return to the safety of the fence, the
HaloCollarapplies yourconfiguredPositivefeedback,includingtheWhistle.
Lost Mode: If your dogleaves the fence area by over 100m (~300ft), it willno
longerreceive EmergencyFeedback;instead,the HaloCollarwill attemptto
direct your dog backto the safetyof your fence using Positive feedback,
includingtheWhistle,Good Behavior and Heading Home.
Immediate Manual Feedback
While training your dog(s),whileon a walk, or wheneveryou determineitis
necessary,you can initiateany of the sametypes of feedbackon demand. To
send immediate feedback, press the ‘Hand’ icon either on your dog(s) pet card
on MyMap, or onyour dog(s)’ Training card. After pressing the ‘hand’ icon, you
will be presented with an option to send any of that dog’s customized feedbacks.

Checking the Battery ChargeLevel of the Halo Collar
Turn on the HaloCollar. Detailedchargelevel is reportedperiodicallytothe Halo
appand is visibleonthe MyMap andCollars Settings screens.
In addition,the HaloCollaris equipped withabattery-status LED. The color of
the status LEDindicates thebattery chargelevel.

Flashing Yellow
The battery shouldbe chargedsoon.
Flashing Red
