Introduction
ViaTalk runs independently without going through any hassle
installation. Just connect your smart phone with your computer and
launch the specic APP and speak. The application will interpret
your speech into the text or the translation and transmit it to the
application on the computer. You can edit the translated text on the
computer.

Using ViaTalk
◎ Computer
ViaTalk is a software stored in an USB cable, just plug the
USB connector into the USB port on the computer, the application
will automatically set up the environment on the computer for the
rst time. Then click ViaTalk shortcut on the desktop to launch
the application.
Note:
1. The system needs some time to recognize ViaTalk device for the rst
time use, so it will take longer to execute the program.
2. At the rst time connecting the device to the computer, the system
will request you to restart your computer, please skip the restart
procedure when prompted.
Tip: When you connect ViaTalk hardware to the computer, it will
automatically execute the program. If your Windows is Vista or above,
you can click [Execute Launch.exe] to launch ViaTalk after it pops up
the AutoRun window.
Before removing the hardware device, to ensure the hardware
safely removed, please click the icon in the upper right corner to
close ViaTalk on the computer.

◎ Android APP download
● Download from Google Play
You can download ViaTalk APP from Google Play. Type the
keyword [ViaTalk], you will find ViaTalk APP, then click it to
install. Or you can scan the QR code below by your phone, it will
link to the download page.
● Download from PenPower Ofcial Website
If you don't have the Google Play APP in your phone, please
scan the QR code below or open the browser in the phone, then
type the link below to download and install ViaTalk.

Note:
1. Some of Android phones would shutdown the built-in microphone
after connecting with the ViaTalk's audio cable, it won't be able
to recieve your speech. To slove this problem, there is a tie-clip
microphone in the box, please connect the tie-clip microphone with the
ViaTalk hardware rst, then connect the audio cable with your phone.
2. The hTC built-in Beats audio effect will interfere the data
transmission. If your hTC phone has the function, please go to Settings
and turn it off temperately.
◎ iPhone APP download
● Download from App Store
You can search for [FreeWriter] app from App Store or you
can scan the QR code below with your phone, it will link to the
download page. Furthermore, you can enter the URL (http://mobile.
penpower.net/download/ViaTalk_iOS) in the browser to find
FreeWriter app, then click it to install.

a message will show on the computer's screen, if you didn't see the
message, please ensure the hardware is correctly connected.
Note:
1. When the APP is launched, it will automatically set the media
volume to the loudest level. When the APP is closed, the volume will be
automatically set back to the original setting. To avoid any error, please
do not change the volume while using.
2. The phone requires a network connection, if your mobile broadband
has limited data quantity, to get a better experience, please change the
network setting to WiFi and to prevent the data quantity beyond the
limit.
3. Some of phones have the power saving mechanism, it will be turned
on when the battery is low, this may cause some errors while dictating.
Please ensure your battery has enough charge during using ViaTalk.
Please launch ViaTalk software on the PC rst, then connect
the audio cable with your phone. For Android phone, please tap
ViaTalk APP to open it, and for iPhone, please tap FreeWriter APP.
Tip: You can tap [Connection Test] in the setting menu to check the
connection has been successfully created or not. If it's connected,
1. Select the speech language on the phone.
2. Tap the microphone icon on the phone to start the speech.
It will show the interpreted text in the text editor after your
speech.
● Operation for iPhone
◎ Dictation
Click [Dictation] on the ViaTalk PC software, then
launch a text editor, such as WORD and move your cursor in
the editor.
● Operation for Android Phone
1. Click the button to switch the Keyboard Language that
you want to use and interpret. If your Siri device is turned
off, please go to [Settings]/ [General]/ [Siri] and turn on the
Siri device.
◎ Translation
2. If you want to change Keyboard Language in the Input Method,
please go to [Settings]/ [General]/ [Keyboard]/ [Keyboard]. You
can delete any language's keyboard by clicking [Edit] on the top
right of the screen. Or click [Add New Keyboard] below to add
more language's keyboard.
3. Click the microphone icon , and you can start to talk. The
interpreted speech will be sent to the computer in text form
immediately.
● Operation for Android Phone
1. Select the speech language on the phone.
2. Tap the microphone icon on the phone to start the speech.
It will show the interpreted text in the text editor after your
speech.
Tip: Please input correct notations to get the best translation.
● Operation for iPhone
1. Click the button to switch the Keyboard Language that
you want to enter and interpret. If your Siri device is turned
off, please go to [Settings]/ [General]/ [Siri] and turn on the
Siri device.
2. If you want to change Keyboard Language in the Input Method,
please go to [Settings]/ [General]/ [Keyboard]/ [Keyboard]. You
can delete any language's keyboard by clicking [Edit] on the top
right of the screen. Or click [Add New Keyboard] below to add
more language's keyboard.
3. Click the microphone icon , and you can start to talk.
Click [Translation] of ViaTalk PC software and select the
translation language on the ViaTalk PC software.
◎ Other Settings
Click in the upper right corner on ViaTalk PC software to
configure the software. You can switch the UI display language,
change the font size in the text eld and turn on/off the automatic
software update in the [Settings] page.
If you check [Convert specic symbols], the application will
interpret the pronunciation "comma" into ",". More option on the
notation pronunciation, please refer to [Symbol/Command list].
