TRIPLE TUBE BIRD FEEDER (7103-2) - INSTRUCTIONS
FILLING YOUR FEEDER
With the squirrel guard removed, fill each tube with desired seed. The seed divider acts as a storage dome
so be sure to fill it all the way. For model 7103-2 we recommend black oil sunflower as the seed of choice
followed by striped sunflower, safflower, or a premium wild bird mix.
ASSEMBLING YOUR FEEDER
Screw the squirrel guard down on the seed divider. Be careful to not over ghten. A snug fit is all that is
necessary for proper assembly (Fig. 1).
ADJUSTING FLIP-PORTS
Adjusng seed port doors – flip up to feed mixed and sunflower seed and down to dispense Nyjer (thistle)
for finches.
INSTALLING PERCHES
Using a small hammer, gently tap each other perch into small holes located under the feeding ports. Use
care not to hit the perch too hard as you may damage the plasc tube. NOTE: You have the choice to using
the perches. By installing the perches you invite birds such as song sparrows, tree sparrows, white throated
sparrows, evening grosbeaks, grackles, blue jays, etc. to perch and dine. By not using the enclosed perches,
you invite just “clinging birds” such as chickadees, tmice, nuthatches, goldfinches, purple finches, pine
siskins, and a variety of woodpeckers etc. to your feeder.
HANGING YOUR FEEDER
When hanging your feeder from a branch, try and locate it at least 12 feet from any tree trunk or limb
andzat least 4 feet up from the ground (Fig. 2). This will prevent squirrels from either jumping from the tree
or up from the ground onto the feeder. When hanging the feeder off a line, make sure the length of line is
at least 8 inches long with the feeder suspended at least 4 feet above the ground or snow. By using a very
thin wire, such as piano wire, will also help keep squirrels off your feeder.
POLE MOUNTING YOUR FEEDER
This feeder may be mounted on a 1 inch diameter pole. (Not Included). To mount, slide feeder down pole
unl the top of pole is inside the opening on boom of seed dividers (Fig. 3).
CLEANING YOUR FEEDER
1) For best results, clean your feeder at least once a month. You may wish to check the seed for dampness
more oen, especially aer a hard rain. Water can sour the seed and promote mold growth.
2) To clean the feeder you will need to remove the seed saver tray and 3 seed tubes. To remove the tray,
squeeze each of the 3 sets of extended tabs together on the underside of the tray. Pressing the tabs
together will release the tray and allow it to be pulled off. With the tray removed, rotate each tube
counter-clockwise unl each of the 4 tabs on the top of the tube align with the 4 wide slots in the seed
divider. When aligned the tubes can be pulled free of the divider.
3) Clean all parts with mild soap and rinse. Avoid abrasive cleaners, they will scratch the plasc parts.
Caked damp seed can be removed with a dull pointed dowel. Make sure the feeder is thoroughly dry
before refilling. To replace the tubes, reverse the removal process. To replace the tray line up the 3 tubes
over the tray and push down unl they lock.
