1Connect
A
Position the base
Place the base within reach of the
telephone line and power sockets.
Connect the cables
Plug the line cord and power cable
into the sockets at the back of the
base.
Plug the other end of the cables
into the wall sockets.
Tip
Placing the base too close to
large metal objects or electrical
appliances can impair the range and
sound quality.Thick walls may also
impair transmission of signals to
and from the base.

Install the batteries
Insert the batteries and slide the
battery door into place.
Charge handset
Place the handset on the base to
charge the batteries.The battery
icon is displayed.

Set up your phone
If the display shows the standby
screen, your phone is ready
to use.
Or
If the display shows WELCOME: you
must select your country. Please see
page16 in the main user guide for
more information.

important settings are set for the
country selected.
SE240 – your phone is ready
to use.
SE245 – your phone is ready
to use. The answering machine is
automatically set to On and ready to
record messages.
Warning
Leave the handset to charge for at
least 24 hours before rst use.

Make a call
Enter the phone number and
press .
Answer a call
When the phone rings, press .
End a call
Press .
Adjust earpiece volume
During a call, press or .
Redial last number
Press then .
Change the ringer volume
and ringtone
• Press , scroll to
PERSONAL SET and press .
• HANDSET TONE is displayed, press
. RING VOLUME is displayed,

• Press or to adjust the
ringer volume level and press
to save the setting.
• Scroll to RING MELODY and press

• Select or your ringtone and
press to save the setting.
Add entry to phonebook
• Press , PHONEBOOK is displayed.
• Press ,
NEW ENTRY is displayed.
• Press ,
ENTER NAME is displayed.
• Enter a name and press .
• Enter a number and press to save.
Dial from the phonebook
• Press , then scroll or
to the entry you want.
• Press to dial.
Set date and time
• Press , scroll to CLOCK/
ALARM
and press .
• DATE & TIME is displayed . Press .
• Enter the date (DD/MM) and press .
• Enter the time (HH--MM) and press
to conrm.
• Press to return to standby.
To display the date & time in standby
mode, make a long press on .
SE245 only
Switch the answering machine off and on
Press at the base.
Listen to your messages
Press .Your new messages
are played.
Or
Press and hold to hear all
messages stored on your machine.

No dialling tone
• Check the connections. Unplug
your phone then plug back in the
mains power.
• Batteries are empty –
charge the batteries for
at least 24 hours.
• You may be too far from
the base – move closer.
• Use the line cable provided.
Poor sound quality
• Move closer to the base.
• Move the base at least one
metre away from any electrical
appliances.
The icon is blinking
• Move closer to the base.
• Register the handset to
the base.
Caller Line Identication does
not work
Check your subscription with your
network operator.
No ring tone
If the icon is displayed, the ringer
is switched off. Increase the ringer
volume. For details, see the main
guide.
