Notes on the Included Linear Stage
Additional Safety Information
NOTE
Damage or malfunction caused by excessive forces and torques
At the mounted cable, do not apply forces exceeding 10 N (e.g. when unpacking, mounting
or connecting the stage).
When affixing M3 screws for payload mounting, do not exceed a torque of 1 Nm
When affixing M2 screws for payload mounting, do not exceed a torque of 0.3 Nm
Damage or malfunction caused by screws that are too long
When affixing screws for payload mounting, note the depth of the corresponding threaded
holes in the platform!
Modifications Compared to Standard Models
The stage is based on the M-110.1DG standard model and features the following modifications:
•The platform shape is changed; now featuring direct access to the mounting holes at
the actuator casing. I.e. it is not required to move the platform before mounting the
corresponding fixing screws. Thus, mounting the stage on a surface and assembling XY-
or XZ-stage combinations is simplified (see below).
New shape of the platform (left) and position of the mounting holes (right)
•Instead of a laser engraving, a product label (incl. product code and serial no.) is applied
to identify the stage.
•Compared to model M-110.1DG1, also the electrical connector and applicable
controller variant differ.
For related technical data and dimensions, see the corresponding sections below.

Optional: Simplified Assembly of XY Stage Combinations
With 2 sets of M-110.C86311, a simplified assembly of XY stage combination is provided due to
the improved shape of the platform.
For the assembly of an XY-oriented stage combination, two mounting options apply (see the
following figures; picture above taken from mounting option 2).
Mounting Option 1
Mounting Option 2
Shape of the final assembly with
1 lower stage
2 upper stage
Note: Compared to mounting option 1, the upper stage is rotated by 180 degrees at option 2.

Requirements
•A surface with according mounting holes for fixing the lower stage with the fixing
screws (M3x6 ISO 4762) is available. For dimensions, see the corresponding section in
this document (p. 7).
•When mounting, the stages are not connected to the controller.
Tools and Accessories
•2 linear stages
•2 packages labeled “Fixing screws”, each incl. 2 screws M3x6 ISO 4762 (delivered with
the stages)
•Appropriate mounting tool (e. g. hex key AF 2, not included in the delivery)
INFORMATION
When the stage combination is mounted completely, the M3 holes for mounting the lower
stage on a surface are no longer accessible (see illustration above, stage 1, pos. a and b).
Part A: Affixing the Lower Stage to a Surface
1. Remove the fixing screws M3x6 from its package.
2. Position the lower stage on the surface so that the according mounting holes of the
surface and of the stage overlap.
3. At each pair of according mounting holes, insert and mount a screw M3x6 (See
illustration above. 2, stage 1, holes a and b).
4. Check that the lower stage is fixed on the surface without backlash.
Part B: Assembling the XY Stage Combination
1. Remove the fixing screws M3x6 from its package.
2. Position the upper stage on the lower stage so that the according mounting holes
overlap.
3. At each pair of according mounting holes, insert and mount a screw M3x6.
Schematics of the assembly (here: shown for mounting option 2)
4. Check that the upper stage is fixed without backlash.

Connecting the Stage to the Provided Controller
1. Ensure that the controller is not connected to the mains power system via the power
adapter: If applicable, disconnect either the corresponding power adapter’s cable from
the stage or from the mains.
2. If the extension cable is required, connect the plug of the stage to the corresponding
connector of the extension cable.
3. Connect the plug of the extension cable (or, if this cable has not been connected to the
stage: the plug of the stage directly) to the corresponding connector of the controller
(labeled “DC motor only”).
4. Establish the controller connections to the computer that will run the motion control
software.
5. Connect the controller to the provided power adapter.
6. For starting the controller, connect the power adapter to the mains power system.
