affectedby external vibration
or fluctuations
in the
reverberation
effect.

TwoTypes of Reverberation
Effect
You can choose freely between
two modes
with this
amplifier.
One mode,known as EFFECT-1,
is the so-
called"echo" mode
whenthe
reverberation
components
of
the original
soundare made to last
for a long
time - a
feature
which iseffective in largehalls.
The other mode,
known as EFFECT-2,
refersto a singlereverberation
component
which isgenerated to turn a solovocalinto a
chorusor duet. Make the most of thesetwo effectsto
derivemore
enjoyment
andsatisfaction
from your music
source.

This indicatorisdesignedto express
the reverberations
produced
visually.
The flickering
of the green
rings
of
light
indicate
theeffect ata
glance.
When
thereverberation
time is long,
the flickering intervals
will increase,
and
converselywhen the time is short, these
intervals
will
decrease.Anotherfunction
of thedisplayis
to display
the
strengthof thereverberations:
themorerevebreration
com-
ponents,
the
brighter
theringsof light.
TIME and DEPTH
Controlsto Adjust Reverbe-
rationEffect
This
reverberation
amplifier
comes
withtwo handy
con-
trols:the TIME control
that allowsthe delay
time to be
adjusted
continuouslyand the DEPTH control which
allowsthe depthof the reverbration
to be adjusted
con-
tinuously.Usingthe two knobs
in combination
makes
it
easy
to produce the desired
reverberationeffect in line
withthe music
source
which
youare
listening
to.

It is normally set to OdB (released
position).
When
using
the modelto reverberatethesound
of a
program
source
having
an
extremelywidedynamic
range,such
asa liverecording, or whenthe soundappearsto be
distorted
with the switch set at the OdB
position,
depress
this switchand set it to the -6dB position.
NOTE:
The maximum rated input of the model SB-9 r's2V. When it
is being used between the PREAMP OUT jacks of the pre-
amplifier and the PowER AMP lN jacks of the power ampli-
fier, set this switch beforehand to -6dB if the output level of
the preamplifier will exceed 2V.

reverberation

This area
is increased
as
the depth control is rotatedclockwise.
The reverb
time and
depthcontrols
are
set
to thepreferred
posi-
tion as
youcheck
out thereverberation,
but if the re-
verberation
indicator's
circle
of light remains
on the
display,
it means
that the reverberation
componenrs
are excessive
(too much of an echo)Use
this as a
basefor adjustments.

The reverberation
effect becomes
more pronounced
when
this
control

clockwise
as
you listen
to

sound.Listen
to the
sound

then
set
thiscontrolfor the optimumeffect.
Selection
can
be
madebetween
two typesof reverberation
with the
model SR-9 by pushing
the reverb
time control or
pulling
it out. Pushing
the control
gives
EFFECT
i
(longer
reverberation
time) and pulling
it out gives
EFFECT
2 (one
reverberation
component).

@DEPTH
CONTROL
This is used
to adjust
thedepth
of the reverberation.
When
it is set
to the '0' position,
onlytheoriginal
soundwill be heard.
The reverberation
component
increases
as
this
control
isrotated
clockwise.
Listen
to
the sound
asit reverberates
andadjust
this
control
to
the
optimum
position.

OPERATION
PRIOR
TO SWITCHING
POWER
ON
Set the controls and switchesto the following
positions
before
operatingthemodel
SR-9.
1.Setthe reverb
timecontrolto the
'5' position.
2. Set
thedepthcontrol
tothe'0'position.
3. Depress thereverberationoff switch.
4. Setthetape
monitor
switch
to OFF (released).
5. Set the tape monitor switch (which is relatedto the
TAPEjacks connectingthe SR-9)on thestereo
ampli-
fier
toON.
NOTE:
Even when the SB-9's power switch is at OFF, the INPUT
signal will bypass the reverberation circuit and it will be fed out
to the OUTPUT iacks and TAPE REC jacks when the reverbe-
ration off switch is depressed.
Operation
procedure
1. Playthe program sourceon the stereo
amplifier,and
listento the soundwithout addingthe reverberation
effect.
2. Depress
thereverberationon switch
(ON).
3. Rotatethedepthcontrolclockwise,increase
thereverbe-
ration components
and adiustto the preferred
level.
The levelfluctuations
of the reverberated
sound
will
make
the reverberationindicator'slightringweak
and
strong.
Rotate
thedepthcontrol
andadjust
so
thatthe
light ring fluctuates
widely between strong
light and
weaklight. Rememberthat whenthe light ring of the
reverberation
indicatorcomeson strong,the reverbe-
ration
effectisexcessive.
4. Rotate the reverbtime control, try lengthening
or
shortening
the delaytime, andset
thiscontrolto the
optimum
position.
NOTE:
Select reverberation EFFECT 1 or EFFECT 2 using the reverb
time control, in accordance with the program source which
you intend to reproduce.

for performances

drop 60dB (one-millionth)
with respect

sound.Usingboth the reverbtime anddepthcontrols,it
is possible

3 seconds.
