Selecting fine audio
equipment
such
as
the
unit
you've
just
purchased
is
only
the
start
of
your
musical enjoyment.
Now
it's
time
to
consider
how
you can maximize the fun and excitement
your
equipment
offers. This manufacturer and
the
Electronic Industries Association's Consumer
Electronics Group
want
you
to
get
the
most
out
of
your
equipment
by playing it at a
safe
level. One
that
lets the sound come
through
loud and clear
without
annoying blaring
or
distortion-and, most importantly,
without
affecting your sensitive hearing.
Sound can be deceiving. Over
time
your hearing
"comfort level" adapts
to
highervolumes
of
sound.
So
what
sounds "normal"
can
actually be loud and
harmful
to
your hearing. Guard against this
by
setting your
equipment
at a
safe
level
BEFORE
your
hearing adapts.
To
establish a
safe
level:
• Start yourvolume control at a
low
setting.
• Slowly increase
the
sound until you can hear
it
comfortably and clearly, and
without
distortion.
Once you have established acomfortable
sound level:
• Set
the
dial and leave
it
there.
Taking a
minute
to
do
this
now
will help
to
prevent
hearing damage or loss in the future. After all, we
want
you listening for a lifetime.
POWER-CORD CAUTION
Handle the power cord by the plug.
Do
not pull out the
plug by tugging the cord and never touch the power
cord when your hands
are
wet
as
this could
cause
a
short circuit or electric
shock.
Do
not place the unit, a
piece
of
furniture,
etc.,
on
the power cord, or pinch the
cord. Never
make
aknot in the cord ortie
it
with other
cords.
The
power cords should
be
routed
such
thatthey
are
not likely
to
be

on.
Adamaged power cord
can

an
electrical

Check

HOW TO CONNECT YOUR SPEAKER BASE TO YOUR TV
The simplest approach is
to
connect the optical audio output of your
TV
to
the optical input on the back
of the Speaker Base. This method will provide the highest quality audio. If your
TV
does not have
an
optical output, you can use the optical output from your
DVD
player or your cable/satellite box
to
connect
to
the optical input on the base, or use
an
analog cable (not supplied)
to
connect the Speaker
Base
to
your
TV.
CONCERNING THE PLACEMENT OF THIS SYSTEM
CAUTION:
When setting up the Speaker Base, lay all audio/video components down flat
to
avoid accidents or injury.
Make sure to assemble and set up the system atop a sturdy base that's strong enough
to
hold the Speaker
Base, the
TV,
and any other components
in
the system. Please ensure that your TV stand completely fits
on
top of the Speaker Base with
at
least 1
11
of clearance surrounding the stand.
WHERE
TO
LOCATE
YOUR
SPEAKER
BASE
Correct placement is important for maximizing the sound quality of your Speaker Base. The Speaker Base
should be positioned under the
TV,
with the
TV
placed directly atop the Speaker Base. Make sure the stand or
table you place the Speaker Base and
TV
on is sturdy enough to hold both components.
Do
not place objects
between the Speaker Base and the table or stand
underneath-they
could interfere with the Speaker Base's
downward-firing woofers.
CABINET MAINTENANCE
Great care and craftsmanship has gone into the construction and finish of the Speaker Base's cabinet.
Periodically use a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or fingerprints.
Do
not use paper towels or other abrasive
materials
as
they may damage the finish.
NOTE:
Please retain the carton and packing material for your Pioneer products,
to
protect them
in
the event of
a move or if they need
to
be shipped
to
a service center. Product that has been shipped by the end user
in
other than the original packaging and is received by the service center
in
damaged condition will be repaired,
refurbished and properly packaged for return shipment, at the end user's expense.
BLUETOOTH® WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY
To use your Bluetooth source device (smartphone,
tablet or computer) with the SP-SB03 Speaker Base,
you must first pair your Bluetooth source device with
your Speaker Base. Pairing creates the ability for
your Bluetooth device
to
connect with your Speaker
Base wirelessly and exchange information. You only
have
to
pair your Speaker Base with your Bluetooth
device one time for this exchange
of
information to
take place.

flashes red the code was not accepted. Move
the remote control closer and push the button
again). Now push your remote's command
button again and if the Mode indicator flashes
green the command is now set.
7.
Repeat this process for each button you would
like to teach your Speaker Base.
8.
To
exit the learning mode, press and hold the
Bluetooth Pairing/Learn button on the Sound
Base until the Bluetooth indicator flashes. Then
release the button. The Bluetooth indicator
should turn off.
HOW TO OPTIMIZE THE SOUND
Once the Speaker Base is connected and powered
up, and
an
active source is selected, you should
hear sound from the Speaker Base. If you don't, turn
up the volume on the Speaker Base using its volume
control buttons.
If your Speaker Base is connected
to
your TV
but you're not getting sound from it, there's a
very good chance your TV is set
to
use its own
internal speakers rather than the Speaker Base. It's
impossible
to
give specific instructions on
how
to
turn off the speakers for every
TV,
but here's a way
to
do
it that covers many
of
the TVs out there.
1.
On
your TV remote control, find a Menu
or
Setup
button.
2.
Press this button.
You
should see
an
on-screen
menu.
3.
Next, look for
an
option
to
control audio
functions and select it. The setting
to
turn off
your TV's internal speakers should be here.
If you can't turn off your TV internal speakers,
don't
worry.
To
enjoy the best performance from your
Speaker Base, you'll want it
to
play louder than your
TV.
Use the following steps
to
adjust the volume
balance between your TV and the base:
1.
If necessary, program your base
to
respond
to
the Volume Up and Down control commands
of
your TV remote.
2.
Turn your TV volume all the way down using the
control buttons on your
TV.
3.
Then, using the Volume keys on the front
panel
of
your Speaker Base (not the ones
on the remote control), set the volume
to
a
normal listening level. After you make these
adjustments, your Speaker Base should always
be louder than your TV speakers. Then use the
TV remote control
to
adjust the volume as you
normally do.
