1 General
PL1200 is a modular, configurable and scalable system, which is intended to enable qualitative,
ergonomic and precise painting of the edges of flat parts and assemblies in the production of
hand bags, shoes and small leather goods.
The configuration of the machine is to be made by using the web based PL1200
configurator. It can be accessed on https://users.plproject.net/ or by scanning the
QR code on the left.
The standard configuration includes:
a) Work place for painting –part of the machine, where the operator does his main job;
b) Maintenance station with two positions. This station’s role is to maintain the paint in good
condition while the heads are full of paint, but not used for painting;
c) Three painting heads with horizontal painting shaft;
d) Cleaning aggregate. It allows immediate correction of mispaintings before drying of the
applied liquid –paint or primer.
Any combination of the above points is possible to be configured in case the user needs a non-
standard configuration.
On the following pages the standard configuration is being described as the most versatile and
complex one.
Using of the other combinations represents
subcases of using the standard configuration. Thus
the information for correct and safe use of each
non-standard configuration could be found in the
present document too.
The major part of the information exposed in this document is available in a series
of video clips using the following Internet link: https://www.plproject.net/media/
The same Internet location could be reached by scanning the QR-code on the left.
The illustrations in this document are for
informational purposes only and may not be
accurate. Differences between revisions of the
various components may not be reflected in the
illustrations where this is not decisive for the
principle of operation of the system.

4 Intended use of the equipment
The PL1200 is a modular system which is intended to enlighten one or more of the following
typical for a leather-haberdashery facility activities:
Applying paint and other low-viscous liquids onto the edges of leather details and their
joints.
The cleaning module is for cleaning paint and other low-viscous liquids from flat leather
details and their joints immediately after the application of the paint.
The paint maintenance station of the system is intended to keep from drying out paint and
other low-viscous liquids when they are in a painting head but not used for painting at the
moment.
4.1 Purpose of all main modules
All components and modules of the system are shown on
Figure 1
Figure 1 Machine description

20. Painting head with a horizontal painting shaft;
21. Paint maintaining station for up to 4 painting heads. Keeps paint from drying out while the
painting head not used;
22. Painting head with a vertical painting shaft;
The system consists of the following MAIN MODULES:
1. The machine has fixed in height work station /16/ where the currently working painting
head is mounted (Horizontal painting head /20/ or Vertical painting head /22/). The
head is fixed by means of a plastic sheet-spring. Thus the exchange of painting heads
between the work station and maintenance station (resp. painting colors) succeeds

using only one hand. Machine starts up automatically after dyeing head is placed on
the working station /16/
2. The machine has painting heads support station /21/ with up to four slots for painting
heads /20/, /22/. They could be filled with different color of paint or different type of
painting liquid than the active head. Thus the change of color for dyeing can last less
than 5 seconds without need to waste some paint or time for cleaning any part of the
machine in between. The support station is intended to keep the paint from
drying. Usually these heads are loaded with different
paint colors for different details and during working
process if necessary the operator can swap heads. This
can be done very easy without turning off the machine.
Just pick up current head from working station and swap
it the desired one. The support station is activated automatically by placing each head on the
supporting station.
3. Cleaning aggregate /7/. Sometimes the edges may be soiled during the painting
process (Figure 2 /1/) (paint left on the flat part of detail /2/ - “overedge”).This is
unacceptable in terms of quality. Also, the operator’s hand gets dirty with paint. To
avoid contamination of details he/she needs the cleaning module. This is a system that
constantly rotates a belt Figure 1/9/ through a container full of water and system of
rollers are keeping the belt moist and always clean, but not too wet. The belt can be
used to clean the detail that operator is working on as well as dirty hands and fingers.
Cleaning process is very simple, just touch the edge /1/ or finger to the lower side of
the belt and all excess paint will be cleaned /2/. The belt needs to be well dried (slightly
moist) when cleaning a detail /2/, to avoid contamination of dirty water.
Figure 2 Painted leather detail
1. Over edging - (paint on the surface of the detail)
2. Painted detail
3. Correctly painted area
The cleaning module is turning on by pressing button /6/ - Figure 1. The speed of the cleaning
belt could be adjusted by using the appropriate dial /10/.
4. Head with horizontal painting shaft /20/ and head with vertical painting shaft /22/ -
Figure 1.
With the painting head the paint is being transferred to the edge of the desired leather detail. The
painting process succeeds by touching the detail to the dyeing shaft and moving it against the
shaft rotating direction. Further information could be found in section 7.1.2.
