1. Introduction
Thisarrayonline UPSsuppliespowerimmediatelytopreventthe datalostand yoursystemdamaged
whenthe mainpowerisabnormal.WithWinPowersoftware,the uninterruptiblepowersupply(UPS) will
safelystoredataand shutdownyournetwork operating systembeforethe batteryisfullydischarged,
whetheryou rethereornot. It providesperfectprotection specificallyforfileservers, minicomputers, internet
hubs, telecommunication systemsand othermission-criticalapplications.
Thisarrayonline UPSincludes:1KRS(L),2KRL,3KRL,6KRL.The modelswithLextension allowfor
expanding runtimebysimplyplugging inadditionalbattery packs.
2. Safetyinstructions
Pleaseread the following usermanualand the safetyinstructionsbeforeinstalling the unitand starting it
up!
Transport
Pleasetransportthe UPS systemonlyinthe originalpackaging (toprotectagainstshock and impact).
Set-up
ØCondensation mayoccurif theUPSsystemismoved directlyfromacoldtoawarm environment.The
UPS systemmustbe absolutelydry beforebeing installed.Pleaseallowan acclimatization timeofat
least twohours.
ØDo not installthe UPS systemnearwaterorindampenvironment.
ØDo not installthe UPS systemwhereitwouldbe exposed todirect sunlight ornearheat.
ØDo not blockoffventilationopeningsinthe UPS systemshousing.
Installation
ØDo notconnectappliancesorequipmentwhichwouldoverload the UPS system(e.g. laserprinters)to
the UPS output socket.
ØPlacecablesinsuchawaythat no one can step on ortripoverthem.
ØDo not connect domesticappliancessuchashairdryerstoUPS output sockets.
ØThe UPScan beoperated byanyindividualswithnoprevioustechnicalexperience.
The following for1KRS(L)/2KRL/3KRLspecially:
ØAssuretoconnectwiththe earthreliably.
ØThe building wiringsocket outlet(shockproofsocketoutlet)must be easilyaccessibleand closetothe
UPS system.
ØWiththeinstallationoftheequipment,thesumoftheleakagecurrentoftheUPSandthe connected
consumerdoesnot exceed 3.5mA.

ØWarning --thisisaproductforrestricted salesdistribution toinformed partners.Installation
restrictionsoradditionalmeasuresmaybe needed topreventdisturbances.
ØAreadilyaccessibledisconnectdeviceshallbe incorporated inthe building installation wiring and the
disconnect devicemust be easilyaccessibleand closetothe UPS system.
ØThisispermanentlyconnected equipmentand onlyqualified maintenancepersonnelmaycarryout
installations.
Operation
ØThe UPSsystemfeaturesitsown,internalcurrent source(batteries).TheUPSoutput socketsmaybe
stillexistseven ifthe UPS systemisnotconnected tothebuilding wiring socketoutlet.
ØInordertofullydisconnectthe UPSsystem,firstlypress the standbyswitchthen disconnectthemains
lead.
ØEnsurethat no fluidsorotherforeignobjectscan enterthe UPS system.

ØThe UPSsystemoperateswithhazardousvoltage.Repairmaybe carried outonlybyqualified
maintenancepersonnel.
Caution -- riskof electricshock.Even somethe unitisdisconnected withthe mainspowersupply(building
wiring socket outlet), componentsinside theUPS systemarestill connected tothe batteryand arestill
electricallyliveand dangerous.
ØBeforecarrying outanykind ofservicing and/ormaintenance,disconnectthe batteriesandverify
thatnocurrentispresentand nohazardousvoltageexist intheterminalsof high capabilitycapacitor
suchasBUS-capacitors.
ØOnlypersonsadequatelyfamiliarwithbatteriesandwiththe requiredprecautionarymeasuresmay
exchange batteriesand superviseoperations.Unauthorized personsmustbe keptawayfromthe
batteries.
Caution --riskofelectricshock.The battery circuitisnotisolated fromthe inputvoltage.Hazardous
voltagesmayoccurbetween the battery terminalsand the ground.Beforetouching anyoperation,please
verifythatno voltage ispresent!
ØBatteriesmaycauseelectricshock and haveahigh short-circuit current.Pleasetakethe
precautionary measuresspecifiedbelowwhen working withbatteries:
-- removewristwatches, ringsand othermetalobjects
-- useonlytoolswithinsulatedgripsandhandles.
ØWhenexchange batteries,installthe samenumberandtypeofbatteries.
ØDo not attempttodisposeof batteriesbyburningthem.Thiscouldcausebattery explosion.
ØDo not open ordestroybatteries. Escapingelectrolytecancauseinjury totheskinandeyes.It maybe
toxic.
ØPleasereplacethe fuseonlywithafuseofthesametypeand amperage inordertoavoidfirehazards.
3. System description
3.1. Display panel
The UPS powercontroland operating indicatorsarelocated on the frontdisplaypanel.
ON-SWITCH
ØThe UPScan beturned on bypressing ON-SWITCH button forat least 1second.
ØThe acousticalarmcan be deactivated bypressing ON-SWITCH button.

STANDBY-SWITCH
The invertercan be turned offbypressing STANDBY-SWITCH.The outputcan be provided bythe mains
powerviathe bypass.
ACinputLED
ØLightsup when the mainspowerisnormal.
ØBlinkswhen the mainspowerisabnormalortheliveconductorand theneutral conductorreversed at
the input.
UPSONLED
Lightsup when outputpowerprovided bythe mainspowerviathe inverter.
BatteryLED
Lightsareup when themainspowerisfailedand theinverterispoweredbythebatteries.
BypassLED
Lightsup when output powerprovidedbythe mainspowerviathe bypass.
Alarm LED
Lightsup when the UPS systemisinfaultcondition,atthe sametime,anacousticwarning signalisissued
everysecond.
Indicator#

Surge protection: provide asurge protection fortelephone faxand network line protectorsand soon.
Communication port:WinPowersoftwarecan be usedwiththe UPSforpowermanagement.Standard
serialinterfacecableiscompatiblewith1KRS(L)/2KRL/3KRLUPS,however,onlythe specialcableapplied
withthe UPScan be used on 6KUPS.
Input/output:ifsocketisavailable,justinsertcompatible cableplug;ifterminalisavailable,wiring can be
completed byprofessionalelectrician.
Note: terminalcovershouldbe put back forsafetyreason afterwiring completed.
Inputbreaker: ifthebreakerpopsout/off, reducethe load on the UPSbyunpluggingequipmentand reset
the breaker.
External batterysocket: specialcableisoffered forthe battery pack, insertone end intothe externalbattery
socketon the UPS,the othertothebatterypack,the samepackscan be paralleled withtogethertoachieve
desired back up time.
Notes:one chainofbatterypackscan beconnectedtoone UPSonly;onlythebatteryconnectorsmarked
withtheequalvoltage can beconnected.

4.2. Battery application
The battery can be charged to90% capacitancewithin5hours.Ifthe battery servicelife(3–5yearsat25
°Cambienttemperature)hasbeen exceeded,thebatteriesmustbeexchanged.Inthiscasepleasecontact
yourdealer.IfthereisnotanyoperationtotheUPSforlong timethen thebatterymustbe charged every
three month.
4.3.Troubleshooting
Using the tablebelow, somecommon problemscan be solved.If the problemstillexistsorsomeproblems
notfound inthe following table, pleasecallthe after-salesservicedepartment. Besureyou havethefollowing

5.5. Communicationport
The typeofsignals,serial command(RS232),isprovided bythe UPStocommunicatewithahost
computer. TheRS232 communicationporttransmitsbothutilitypowerand UPSstatustothehostcomputer,
providing the host computerwithproprietary command sequencetomonitorthe utilitypowerand UPS status
and tocontrolthe UPS output.
The dataformatofRS232 islisted asfollowed:

5.5.1. RS232 interface
Twotypesof signals,relaycontactorserial command (RS232),areprovided bythe UPStocommunicate
withahostcomputer. The relaycontacttransmitsbothutilitypowerand UPS statustothe hostcomputerby
using “ON“and “OFF“statesofrelays,providing the hostcomputerwithproprietary command sequenceto
monitortheutilitypowerand UPSstatusand tocontrolthe UPSoutput. Thehostcomputercanalsomonitor
the UPS through RS232 communication port.
