Dear Customer,
Thank you for your confidence in buying this Polti product, which gives you perfect ironing
in less time.
Vaporella has been designed to ensure the best ironing comfort for you; its quality materials make it
a reliable work-mate.
The powerful steam jet of Vaporella acts on the fabrics eliminating the creases even before the sole-
plate passes over it. So it is no longer necessary to press on or iron repeatedly. Just let the iron slide
over the garment to obtain perfect ironing, saving time and effort. With Vaporella it is possible to iron
vertically to refresh fabrics and remove bad smells from jackets, clothes and overcoats.
Vaporella helps you to work safely. This product conforms with very strict regulations and is equipped
with exclusive safety devices, among them the patented safety cap, which prevents the device be-
ing opened (even by accident) whilst there is the slightest pressure inside the boiler.
Please read these usage instructions carefully before using this product. We hope you will enjoy us-
ing your Vaporella.

socket, but grasp the plug itself to avoid da-
mage to the socket.
• Do not allow the power cable to be twisted,
crushed, stretched, or come into contact
with sharp or hot surfaces.
• Do not use the appliance if the power cable
or other important parts are damaged.
• Do not use electric extension leads that are
not authorized by the manufacturer, as they
may cause damage or fire.
• If it is necessary to replace the power sup-

pliance, especially when the appliance is
still hot.
• During refilling with water, switch off and di-
sconnect the appliance from the mains.
• It is necessary to keep the unit in horizontal
position during operation.
• Do not direct the steam jet onto electrical
and/or electronic appliances.
• Let the appliance cool down before clea-
ning it.
• Before storing the appliance make sure that
it has completely cooled down.
• This appliance is equipped with safety devi-
ces which are to be replaced only by a sui-
tably qualified technician.
• Do not put any detergent or chemical sub-
stance in the boiler. Water by its nature
contains magnesium, mineral salts and
other deposits which in hard water areas
can contribute to limescale build-up in the
tank. To avoid these problems, it is neces-
sary to swill out with tapwater and empty
the generator tank after every 3 or 4 uses.
In hard water areas we recommend the
use of KALSTOP, a special natural-base
decalcifier which inhibits and breaks down
limescale, making it easy to remove just by
swilling out the tank with a little tapwater.
This is a preventive against lime scale
build-up and protects the metal walls of the
steam generator tank. KALSTOP is avail-
able from Polti dealers or by mail-order
from your Polti Service Centre.
• Do not try to unscrew the safety cap or
empty the appliance whilst water in the
boiler is still hot.
• Do not refill the boiler while it is still hot. Al-
low it to cool for a good few minutes before
refilling.
• Do not open the safety cap while the
aplliance is ON.
• When REFILLING the generator boiler, use
HOT, not cold water. Pour in gradually and
gently at first and keep your face and other
exposed skin well away. Otherwise the still
hot boiler walls may spit drops of very hot
water or steam spray.
• Make sure the patented safety cap is fully
and correctly screwed on, otherwise you
may experience steam escaping from
around the cap.
• Check periodically the safety cap and
MAKE SURE the rubber gasket is in place
around the base of the screw thread.
Replace with original spare parts if neces-
sary. DO NOT USE STEAM FUNCTION if
the rubber gasket is not in position.
• If you iron sitting down, do not place your
legs under the ironing board, the steam can
cause burns.
• Iron only on heat resistant surfaces and on
surfaces that allow the steam to escape
e.g. MESH ironing boards.
• For iron rest mat replacement use only orig-
inal spare parts.

1a. Fit the flex holder (4) to the appliance.
Place the combined steam iron flex (8)
into the support (fig.1).
2a. Unscrew the patented safety cap (1) and
fill the boiler with about 1.3 litres of water
using the special funnel (6) making sure
that it does not overflow (fig.2).
Normal tapwater can be used. However,
as hard water by its nature contains lime-
stone, which may cause a build-up of li-
mescale in the tank, in hard water areas
we recommend the use of our natural-
base decalcifier KALSTOP FP 2003.
3a. Retighten the cap fully and carefully.
Make sure the patented safety cap (1) is
fully and correctly screwed on, otherwise
you may experience steam escaping from
around the cap.
4a. Connect the power supply cable (9) into
an earthed power supply of the correct
voltage.
5a. Switch on the boiler and iron by pressing
the switches (2) and (3). The pressure in-
dicator light (5) will light up.

Check the manufacturer’s label on the gar-
ment, and interpret the symbol on the label as
follows:
1b. For STEAM ironing, set the iron tempera-
ture to its maximum travel on the “COTTON -
LINEN” steam position (fig.3), by turning the
dial (7).
NB Set at its maximum, do NOT set
against the picture of iron on the dial (7).
Most fabric types, other than delicates,
can be STEAM-ironed at this tempera-
ture, please consult the garment label. If
Steam ironing allowed--set the dial to its
MAXIMUM travel and set the tempera-
ture according to the kind of fabric
DRY IRON only, with iron dial set to the
temperature according to the kind of fa-
bric dot. N.B. NEVER CALL FOR
STEAM BY PRESSING STEAM RE-
QUEST BUTTON when DRY ironing.
See special instructions for DRY ironing
in the instruction book.
DO NOT IRON. Neither steam nor dry
ironing allowed.

you want to DRY iron, set the dial (7) to
the required temperature for the fabric, as
shown on the dial.
Nb fabric indications on dial are for
DRY ironing, for STEAM ironing set at
maximum travel as explained above.
2b. Wait for the pressure indicator light (5) to
go out (about 15 minutes). Push button
(10) on the iron to release bursts of steam
from the holes on the soleplate. Release
the button and the steam will stop (fig.4).
NOTE: during initial operation of the iron,
a few drops of water mixed with steam
may come out of the soleplate until the
temperature stabilises. It is advisable to
direct the first jets of steam onto an old
cloth until a uniform stable jet of steam is
obtained.
RECOMMENDED TECHNIQUE for STEAM
ironing with Polti iron is APPLY steam (button
10) on the upstroke, then release button (10)
(so no steam) for the backstroke, so reclosing
the fibres, preventing oversteaming and wet-
ness.
3b. The appliance is equipped with a rigid iron
rest mat (11) which can be removed and
put elsewhere if required.
NOTE:
• The steam pressure indicator (5) may go
on and off from time to time during use of
Vaporella. This means the machine main-
tains the correct and constant pressure
and is quite normal.
• If no steam is released from the iron,
check: the steam pressure indicator (5) is
OFF and there is water in the boiler.

This appliance is equipped with the unique
Polti patented safety cap, which prevents
opening of the generator tank as long as
there is any pressure remaining inside. This is
an important and indispensable safety device,
and it is necessary to follow certain procedu-
res when re-filling the tank. When you have
used up all the water in the tank, do as fol-
lows:
1d. Switch the Illuminated generator switch
(2) off.
2d. Press the steam request button on the
iron (10) so as to fully exhaust the steam
supply from the tank.
3d. Switch the Illuminated iron switch (3) off.
4d. Disconnect the power supply cable from
the mains.
5d. Unscrew anti-clockwise the patented sa-
fety cap (1).
6d. Wait for a few minutes to allow the gene-
rator tank to cool down.
7d. When the tank is cool proceed to carefully
refill the tank as described in paragraph
1a of the section “PREPARATION FOR
USE”.
If refilling the generator when not comple-
tely cooled, we recommend that you care-
fully pour gradually only very small quanti-
ties of HOT (not cold) water at each
pouring into the tank, so as to avoid spit-
ting from the tank, and keep exposed skin
and face well away from the opening.
