1. Keep the workplace free from obstacles which could cause an accident. Ensure a clear
working area of at least 1.5m is maintained to eliminate trip hazards from logs or tools
2. Do not expose the Quik-Split machine to rain. DO NOT use the Quick-Split machine in damp
or wet locations.
3. Keep children away from the machine. Children should never be allowed in the work place,
or operate the machine or tools.
4. Store your Quick-Split machine in a dry and dust free environment.
5. Dress appropriately. Do not wear loose clothing, jewellery or anything that could be caught
by the moving parts. Protective clothing and slip-resistant shoes are recommended when
operating the machinery. Wear protective hair covering to secure long hair.
6. Safety equipment must be used. When operating the Quik-Split machine, protective strike-
resistant certified goggles, earplugs, working gloves and boots should be worn. (see page 2)
7. Maintain the Quick-Split machine and tools with care. Follow the instructions for lubricating,
cleaning and parts replacement. Keep handles clean, dry and free from oil and grease.
8. STAY ALERT! Look at what you are doing. Keep your judgement. Do not operate when
you’re tired.
9. Check all parts. Before using the Quik-Split machine, any damaged part should be carefully
checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check all
fasteners and tighten as necessary. Any damaged parts should be repaired or replaced by a
qualified technician.
10. Only genuine Quik-Split accessories and parts can be used as replacements.
Using accessories and parts other than those recommended may cause the quality
guarantee to be invalid.
11. Do not operate the machine if intoxicated with alcohol or drugs. If you’re taking prescribed
drugs, make sure your judgement and reactions are unaffected. If there is any doubt about
this do not operate the Quik-Split machine.
12. MAINTENANCE. For your own safety, the care and maintenance of the Quik-Split should be on a
regular basis.
13. WARNING! When operating, all persons apart from operator, should keep at least 5m away from
the Quik-Split machine, to avoid injuries by wood or debris. Only one operator is allowed to
operate the machine at any one time.
14. CAPACITY. Do not try to split wood more than the specified size. If the wood can’t be split,
take the wood out from the machine and cut it into smaller sizes or split it by other means.
15. This machine can only be used to split wood. Splitting other material or using the Quick-Split
machine in other ways may cause injuries or damage to property and invalidate any guarantee.
16. Care should be taken placing and removing logs from the log splitter as the splitting wedge has
a sharp edge.
17. Always place the logs centrally on the cutting area. Hint: Logs split easier if the narrower
diameter (towards top of tree) is nearest the splitting wedge.
18. ATTENTION: the warnings, alerts and instructions in this manual cannot cover all situations.
The operator must have basic common sense and caution at all times.
19. ATTENTION: do not leave the Quik-Split running unattended.
20. Use of a residual current device is recommended.

Important safety information
Operate the Quik-Split from the back of the machine for protection from splinters or pieces of
wood being split; particularly from irregular or knotty wood.

Attach the operating levers to the
arms using the 4 bolts, washers
and nuts supplied. Ensure the
fixings are tight before use.
The Front Support is temporarily
attached to the chassis in a rotated
position whilst in packaging.
Remove fixings and re-attach the
Front Support in the position shown.
Remove the Quicksplit 7 from the packaging - the unit is heavy so a 2 person lift is
recommended. The unit can be manoeuvred using the wheels by lifting the handle
at opposite end. For transportation a 2 person lift is essential.

Ensure unit is on a flat and stable surface prior to operation. If possible, peg/retain the
front support foot. Maintain a clear area free from obstructions including split and un-
split logs
Operator position is at the back of the unit behind the motor. Before use, familiarise
yourself with the operating sequence by practicing without logs.
You will soon get used to the rhythm of 1 - 2 to split and 3 - 4 to
return the ram to the start position
Open the Emergency Cut off switch cap and start the motor by pressing the green
start button. The machine is turned off by pressing the red button/emergency
button.
The Quik-Split machine features a reset button. The electrical system will
automatically cut-out if overloaded due to excessive power being used. If the
system has tripped, ensure the unit is free from obstructions and press the reset
button to continue and restart the motor by pressing the green start button.
It may take a minute for the system to reset.
7
Operation
IF LOG IS SPLIT
and ram is returned to start position correctly, remove split pieces carefully and
repeat operation for next log
IF LOG IS SPLIT
but ram does not fully return, clean and clear the surface below the ram from debris
IF LOG IS NOT SPLIT
a second attempt can be made but ensure the ram fully returns first
IF LOG IS STUCK ON THE SPLITTING WEDGE
follow instructions on page 8

What to do if a log gets stuck:
If a log happens to get stuck on the cutting
wedge - it is important to firstly return the
handles to their starting position - first handle
1, then handle 2- to ensure the ram retracts
fully to the start position.
Next, to free the log, give it a sharp knock
with a hammer away from the cutting wedge
to clear it.
If attempting to cut hard or knotty woods
then the handles may try and kick-back.
If the machine continues to kick-back each
time and you cannot hold the handles in
the cutting position, then you should move
handles at 3 & 4 movement as on page 6 to
retract the ram.
Whilst occasional repeat hits of a piece of
wood are fine if the handles are held firmly,
continuous kick-backs can cause rubbing
between the rack and pinion which will result
in unnecessary and premature wear that is not
covered by warranty.
Any pieces of wood that are causing the
machine to kick-back should be split
using a different method.
WARNING:
Tests have shown that most wood in the UK can be cut satisfactorily, but some hardwoods such as
Apple wood can only typically be cut in small sections.
With regular use you will get to know the limitations of the machine, it is essential to work
within them for a trouble free service.

Maintenance and Specifications
Adjustment of Quik-Split
If your Quik-Split does not cut when the levers are held firmly in the operating position then there
are 2 possible causes.
A) The gear mechanism may need adjustment. This can be checked by the following method:-
1. Ensure the unit is unplugged from the power supply.
2. Detach the main return spring from under the machine, removing it from the eyebolt on the back leg.
3. Remove the top cover guard by undoing the screws holding it to the side guards.
4. Slide the ram assembly forward by hand to its furthest extent, so it nearly touches the cutting blade. Be
careful to avoid getting hands close to cutting blade to avoid cutting hazard.
5. Push both operating handles to the “on”position and hold them in place. They should both be resting
against the limiting bolts as in the photo.
6. With the handles against the limit bolts press the back end of the ram pinion vertically down. This tests
the gap between the gears and should be minimal. Press up and release a few times to assess how much
movement is present. If there is more than 1mm then the limit bolts need adjusting.
7. Adjust both of the limit bolts by an equal amount so that when the above test is repeated only about 1mm
of movement is present.
8. Lock the adjusting bolts firmly.
9. Reassemble, ensuring all guards are secured and all bolts and screws are tight.
B) The belt may be slipping. This can be checked by the following method:-
1. Ensure the unit is unplugged from the power supply.
2. Remove the side cover guard by undoing the screws holding it to the top guard and main chassis.
3. The belt should be adjusted so there is approximately 20mm total movement. The motor position can be
altered to tighten the belt by unlocking the 4 bolts on its feet. The motor is moved back by tightening the
bolt at the back of the motor that attaches to the chassis. When the belt is sufficiently tight ensure that the
motor is square to the chassis and tighten the bolts on the motor footplate.
4. Reassemble, ensuring all guards are secured and all bolts and screws are tight.

Wipe down & clean the machine before storing in a dry, safe place.
1. Every time before use, check all the nuts and bolts have been fastened, ensure the
machine is in good condition before using.
2. During use, the area beneath the ram can accumulate debris and splinters whch can prevent the
ram returning fully to the start position. Keep this area clear from debris to ensure
correct operation.
3. A build up of debris can occur under the carriage where the bearings run. Keep this part of the
machine clean
4. Lubricate the surface of beam, the meshing part of rack and rack gear with light machine oil
weekly or every 30 hours. For other metal parts, use a little oil to prevent rust.
