Setting-up the Star TSP 143 LAN Printer + WiFi Power Pack
Note: The WiFi Power pack is an additional piece of inexpensive hardware that turns Star LAN/
Ethernet printers into WiFi printers. No more messy cables!
1. Identify the parts of the printer

3. Load 80mm Width Paper Roll
Ensure all cables and peripherals are securely
connected as described above
1) Plug the power plug into the AC wall socket
2) Turn on the printer
3) You know the printer is ready when the “READY”
indicator light becomes solid green
4. Turn on the Printer
2. Connect Cables and Peripherals
1) Remove clear plastic covering from the back of the
wireless router
2) Plug the DK power module to USB cable into the DK
power modules’s USB port
3) Plug the DK power module into the mini USB port of
the wireless router
4) Use the provided double-sided tape to stick the DK
power module and the wireless router to the back of
the LAN printer
5) Plug the cash drawer cable of the DK power module
into the cash drawer port of the star LAN printer
6) Plug the provided ethernet cable from the wireless
router into the wireless router’s ethernet port
7) Plug the ethernet cable from the wireless router into
the printer’s ethernet port
8) Tuck all wires into the back opening of the printer

5. Connect the Printer to your existing WiFi network
Go to settings on your iPad and connect to the newly created Starwi network (via WIFI)
1) Open web browser and type in IP of the TP Link router
(192.168.0.254)
Login as: admin
Password is: admin
2) Select ”Quick Setup” from the menu on the left side of your screen. Click “Next”.
3) Select “Client Mode”. Click “Next”.
4) The next screen will enable you to congure your WIFI settings. Click on the “Survey” screen.
Clicking on Survey will allow you to select from available WIFI networks. Once the correct WIFI
network is identied press “Connect”.
5) Select your security options, Enter password, then Click “Next”.
Security Options = the type of security
your Router is congured to provide. Most
recent setups have been completed using the
WPA style passcode. If you need assistance
identifying the type of network you may be
running please reach out to your local IT
support team

Troubleshooting
STAR TSP143LAN Printer – Not Acquiring an IP
STAR TSP143Lan Printers sometimes do not acquire an IP, this is especially prevalent with the STAR
WIFI Power Pack. Out of the box the STAR TSP143LAN has 20 seconds to acquire an IP or it will
time out and not try to attempt to acquire an IP again until power cycled. This is especially prevalent
with when the printer is combined with the STAR WIFI Power Pack due to the printer powering the
TP-Link Router. This combination sometimes don’t allow enough time for IP acquisition for the printer
and the WIFI Power Pack. In order to solve for this we will need to turn OFF the time-out feature on
the STAR Printers via a Dip Switch Setting.
To disable the Auto-Timeout after 20 seconds feature please use the following procedure:
1) Turn the printer off and disconnect the power cable plug from the AC outlet.
2) Remove the screw, and then remove the DIP Switch cover on the bottom of the printer.
3) Use a tool with a narrow tip to change the DIP Switch settings
4) Turn the number “3” DIPSWITCH to off
5) Install the DIP switch cover and secure it with the screw
6) Reboot router to save changes
