PREFACE
This document covers the installation and basic function of the Air Force One®
"True" Low Air Loss alternating pressure mattress. The mattress shown in this
document features a standard 35" width mattress with a protective top cover.
Mattresses should only be installed on the correct width beds for the given
mattress width.
INSTALLATION
AirForceOne® Package Contents:
(1) Mattress Assembly with blower hoses and fittings
(1) Alternating Pressure Pump / Blower Assembly
(1) Power Cord for Pressure Pump.
Required Tools for Assembly: None
Step 1. The mattress will ship deflated and strapped together in a folded state.
Place the mattress on the bed frame making sure that the bright red CPR valve
resides on the head section of the bed.
Step 2. Un-strap the tie downs holding the mattress in a bound position and
unroll the mattress. Make sure the mattress fits evenly on the bed frame.

Step 3. Locate the woven nylon straps along the sides, head, and foot sections
of the mattress. Feed these straps around the bed frame and back up through
the eyelets. Firmly snug the straps keeping the mattress tight to the frame.
Step 4. Locate the Alternating Pressure Pump /Blower Assembly. Rotate the
mounting hooks found on the rear of the unit outward and mount securely to
the bed. The pump assembly in these instructions will be shown mounted on the
footboard of the bed.
Step 5. Locate the pump/blower hoses protruding from the foot section of the
mattress. The three main lines are protected by a plastic cover. Unclasp the
cover and note the three air fittings with o-rings. Lock the receptacle with the
three fittings into the pump/blower assembly. There is no top or bottom to the
fitting, however it is recommended to be installed in whichever direction the air
line assembly naturally flows. This will depend on where the pump/blower
assembly is mounted.

Step 6. Affix the single remaining air hose to the metal fitting on the
pump/blower assembly, until you hear a click.
Step 7. Locate the power cord receptacle on the opposing side of the
pump/blower assembly. Plug the correct female end of the plug into the
pump/blower assembly and the other into a standard 110v electrical power
source. Switch the pump/blower assembly to the ON position using the switch
found next to the power cord plug.
Step 8. Allow the mattress to fill with air once the pump/blower unit has been
activated. It is now ready for use. For rapid inflation press the "Autofirm" button on the
front of the Blower.

ADJUSTING THE PRESSURE PUMP/BLOWER UNIT
The Pressure Pump/Blower Assembly features multiple settings for patient care
and comfort.
ALTERNATING PRESSURE MODE
One of the key features of the pump is the alternating pressure feature. This will
cycle through the individual bladders based on the cycle time setting selected.
This keeps the patient devoid of constant pressure in just one area to treat and
prevent pressure wounds/ulcers. The alternating pressure mode can be selected
by pressing the MODE button on the control panel of the pump assembly. When
selected the LED designating alternating pressure will light up and the CYCLE
TIME window will become active for use.
STATIC PRESSURE MODE
The static pressure mode keeps the mattress inflated with no alteration of the
internal air bladders' pressure. When selected, the LED designating the STATIC
pressure mode will light. The CYCLE TIME window will become un-active.

AUTOFIRM AND FOWLER SETTINGS
AUTOFIRM
Autofirm is used to hyper inflate the mattress to assist with repositioning, transfers,
or delivering care. Autofirm will time out after 15 minutes and return to previous
pressure settings. This can be selected by depressing the AUTOFIRM button on
the control face; activating the corresponding LED demonstrating pressure
selection.
FOWLER
The Fowler function allows is used to increase pressure in the mattress without
changing original pressure settings. This can be selected by depressing the
FOWLER button on the control face; activating the corresponding LED
demonstrating pressure selection.

PRESSURE LEVEL SETTINGS
The level of overall air pressure in the mattress during any state of function can
be adjusted using the LEVELS window on the face of the pump assembly. Using
the + FIRM and - SOFT settings, you will actively raise and lower the LED count in
the LEVELS window which corresponds directly to the amount of air pressure
used in the mattress.
CPR VALVE
To rapidly DEFLATE the mattress to administer CPR, pull out and rotate the valve until the Arrow
next to "CPR" is located in the "Open" position. Be sure to return the valve back to "Closed" to
refill the mattress. The CPR valve is located at the head end of the bed.
HOSE RELEASES FOR DISASSEMBLY
When removing the hoses from the pump/blower assembly, be sure to depress
the side releases on the main 3 hose harness, and the single silver top release on
the single hose.
