3.1GasRequirements
Thefiretableshouldbeplacedonaflatandlevelsurface.Itwillarrivewiththeburnerandburnerplate
setinsidetheunit.Burnerhardwarehasbeeninstalledatthefactorybutwillneedtobecheckedfor
propertightnessaftertransportation.Refertothecorrespondingsectionbelowforset‐uponyourunit.
Allunitsmusthaveclearancetocombustiblesurfaceof4ftonsides&6ftfromthetop.Refertothe
sectionbelowfortheaccordingtothegastypeyoupurchased.Contacttechnicalsupportifanorifice
3.1.1NaturalGas
GasPressure:7incheswatercolumn
GasInputFlow:65,000BTUs/HR(ManualIgnition),85,000BTUs/HR(PH‐Ignite),Upto125,000BTUs/HR
withorificechange.
Priortoinstallation,agasprofessionalwillneedtorunagaslineundergroundbelowthefoundation
whereyourfirefeaturewillreside.Inordertodothis,yourgasprofessionalwillfirstneedtodetermine
thebestpipesizebasedonfuelinputrequirements(BTU’s/HR),gaspressureanddistancefromgas
pressureregulatortofirefeature.Onceyouhavecreatedatrenchundergroundforyourpipe,the
stubbed‐outendshouldbefittedwitha½”NPTballvalveshutoff(ratedforgasusage)andaflarefitting
sizedforthesamesizegashosethatisattachedtothekeyvalveandburner.Connectyourflexhoseto
thestubbed‐outgaspipethenconnecttheotherendtothekeyvalveinyourfirefeature.Thearrowon
thekeyvalveshouldbepointingthedirectionofthegasflow(towardstheburnerplateonyourfire
feature).Tightenallfittingswithawrench,donothandtighten!Testthegaslinesforleaksandlossof
pressureovera24‐hourperiod.Whenyouarefinishedtestingandhavefoundnoleaks,coverthepipes,
levelthegroundandfinishsettingthefoundation.Onceeverythingistightlysealedandconnected,
gentlyplaceyourburnerplatebackdownintoyourfirefeature;yourfiretableisnowreadytobe
positionedinitsfinallocation.
Note:Checkwithyourgassuppliertoverifygasflowsandpressuresavailableatthelocationofyour
installation.Inmanycasesutilitycompanieswillinstalllargermetersatnochargetoaccommodate
largerflows.
3.1.2PropaneGas
GasPressure:11incheswatercolumn
GasInputFlow:65,000BTUs/HR(Manualignition),85,000BTUs/HR(PH‐Ignite),Upto125,000BTUs/HR
withorificechange.

Makesurethefoundationisflatandlevelpriortoplacement.Unitsusingliquidpropanewillcomewith
aburner,orifice,flexhoseandregulatorthatwillattachtothepropanetank.Thisgashosewillneedto
gofromthetanktotheburner.Thehoseshouldconnectfromthekeyvalvewithintheunit,througha
ventunderneathandtothepropanetank.Makesureallfittingsaretightenedproperlywithawrench,
donothandtighten!Anadditionalflexhosewillbeattachedtotheotherendofthekeyvalvetothe
flarefittingatthebottomoftheburner.Thearrowonthekeyvalveshouldbepointingthedirectionof
thegasflow(towardstheburnerplateonyourfirefeature).
Firefeaturesdonotincludepropanecylinder;youwillneedtoprovideone.Theliquidpropanesupply
cylindermustbeconstructedandmarkedinaccordancewiththespecificationsforpropanegas
cylindersasrequiredbytheU.S.DepartmentofTransportation(DOT).

4.1Ignition
Refertothesectionbelowaccordingtowhichignitionsystemyoupurchased.Aninitialburnertest
shouldbedonepriortofillingthepanwithmedia(rocks/glass/etc.)
4.1.1ManualLight
Youwillneedafireplacelighter,donotuseamatchorcigarettelighterastheyaremuchshorterand
willlightthefueltooclosetotheburnerwhichmayresultinseriousinjury.Igniteyourfireplacelighter
andholdthetipclosetotheburner.InsertfiretablekeyandturnittotheONpositiontostartgasflow
totheburner‐ifyouareusingapropanetankunit,pleasenoteyouwillneedtoopenthevalveonyour
tankfirst.Ifyourburnerdoesnotlightwithin5seconds,turnkeytotheOFFpositionandwait10
secondsbeforetryingagain.Iftheburnerstilldoesnotlight,callyourlocalgastechniciantodetermine
ifthereisaproblem.Onceburnerlights,immediatelyremoveyourhandandallowburnertooperatefor
afewminutesbeforeturningitoff.Makesurethevalveisproperlyclosedeverytimeyouleaveyourfire
featureunattendedandremovekey.Forpropaneunits,ensurethatvalveontankiscompletelyclosed
whenfirefeatureisnotuse.
Youarenowreadytoplacethefiremediaontotheburnerpan.Slowlypourmediaontopanandspread
evenly.Firemediashouldbesparselyspreadoutenoughtocoverpan.Onlyusetherecommended
amountofmediainyourunit(theamountprovided),overfillingmayresultinsmallerflameandgas
buildupwhichmaycauseanexplosion.Freshairmustbeabletopassthroughtheunit.Donotblockor
obstructanyventsonlowerandupperpartsofthefirefeature.Thesearedesignedtoensureproper
combustionandensurenobuildupofresidualgaseswithintheunit.
4.1.2BatteryIgnition*onlyavailableforPropaneGasUnits
Findthepanelonthesideofyourunit,theknobshouldbeatthe12:00position.Thistypeofignition
takesoneAAbattery(notincluded).Toinsertbattery,turntheblackbatteryreceptacletotheleftofthe
knobcounter‐clockwiseuntilitunscrewsandcomesoff.Insertbatteryandcarefullyplacereceptacle
knobbackinpositionandscrewbackon.Youmayneedtoapplylightpressurebutdonotovertightenas
itmaydamagetheknobandthreads.
Toigniteunit,ensureknobisinthe12:00positiontostart.Pushtheknobinwardandturnclockwiseto
the6:00position.Youshouldheartheignitersparkingandthegasshouldignite.Continuetopushknob
inwarduntilburnerlights,waitafewsecondsandreleaseknob.Iftheflamedoesnotstaylit,pushthe
knobbackinandallowsparktoreignite.Ifyoudonotheartheignitersparking,yourbatterymaybe
drainedandwillrequirereplacement.
Regulatetheflamebyturningtheknobclockwiseuntilitistoyourliking.Theknobwillnotgopastthe
9:00position.Iftheflamesarestilltoolowortoohigh,havethepressureregulatorcheckedforproper

operation.Pushknobinwardandturncounterclockwiseallthewaybacktothe12:00startingposition.
Iftheknobdoesnotturnthesystemoff,contactyourgasprofessionaltoreplacegasvalve.Onlyuse
factoryapprovedpartsforreplacement.Onceburnerlights,immediatelyremoveyourhandandallow
burnertooperateforafewminutesbeforeturningtheknoballthewaybacktothe12:00/offposition.
Youarenowreadytoplacethefiremediaontotheburnerpan.Slowlypourmediaontopanandspread
evenly.Firemediashouldbesparselyspreadoutenoughtocoverpan.Onlyusetherecommended
amountofmediainyourunit(theamountprovided),overfillingmayresultinsmallerflameandgas
buildupwhichmaycauseanexplosion.Freshairmustbeabletopassthroughtheunit.Donotblockor
obstructanyventsonlowerandupperpartsofthefirefeature.Thesearedesignedtoensureproper
combustionandensurenobuildupofresidualgaseswithintheunit.
4.1.3ElectronicIgnition
PrismHardscapesoffersaseparateinstallationguidefortheElectronicPH‐IgniteSystem.Allother
electronicsystemguidesmustberequestedfromtheircorrespondingmanufacturers.
CAUTION:Openflameswillignitecombustiblematerialssuchasclothing,fabric,hair,etc.which
mayresultinseriousinjury,propertydamageand/ordeath.Becautiousoftheopenflameswhile
burnerislit.
4.2Adjustment
Allowthefirefeatureandmediatocooldownbeforemovingoradjusting.Thismaytakefrom30
minutesto1hourdependingonthesizeofthefirefeature.Anyshiftingoffiremediaorfeatureshould
bedoneaftertheentireunithascooled.Alsopriortomovement,ensurethatallgasvalvesare
completelyclosedanddisconnected.

PrismHardscapesLLCoffersa2‐yearlimitedwarrantyagainstmanufacturer
defects.PrismHardscapeswillrepairorreplaceproductwhichhasbeen
proventobedefectiveinworkmanshipand/ormaterial.Ifunitisconfirmed
defectiveandisnotrepairablebyaqualifiedPrismHardscapesrepresentative,
theunitwillbereplacedFOBPRISMHARDSCAPESfacility.Thebuyermust
provideproofofpurchasealongwithdateofdeliverytotheenduserand
arrangeshippingassociatedwiththereplacementoftheunit.Prism
Hardscapeswillnotberesponsibleforanydefectsresultingfrommisuse,user
error,installationerror,abuse,repairoralteration.Theuseofwoodorfuels
otherthanthosespecifiedforusewiththisunitbyPrismHardscapeswillvoid
warrantyimmediately.UndernocircumstanceswillPrismHardscapesbe
liableforincidentalsorconsequentialdamageresultingfromdefective
products.ThiswarrantyisPrismHardscapes’solewarranty,allothers
expressedorimpliedwhetherofmerchantability,fitnessofpurposeor
otherwise,arethereforedisclaimedbyPrismHardscapes.PrismHardscapesis
