1.Readcarefully andunderstandoperator manual
priortooperation ofthis product.Follow all
warnings and instructions.
2.Know your equipment. Considerthe applications,
limitations,and thepotentialhazards specificto
your unit.
3.Equipmentmust be placed on afirm, supporting
surface.
4.Loadmust bekept withinrating stated on
generator nameplate. Overloading willdamage
theunit or shortenits life.
5.Enginemust not berunatexcessivespeeds.
Operating an engineatexcessivespeeds increases
thehazard of personalinjury.
Donot tamper with parts which may increase
ordecreasethegovernedspeed.
6.Topreventaccidental starting,always removethe
spark plugorcablefromthe sparkplug before
maintainingthegenerator or engine.
7.Units withbrokenor missing parts, or without
protectivehousingor covers,should never be
operated.Contactyour servicecenterfor
replacementparts.
8.Units shouldnotbe operated or storedinwetor
dampconditions oronhighlyconductive
locations such as metaldeckingand steelwork.
9.Keepthe generatorclean andfreeof oil, mudand
otherforeign matter.
10.Extension cords,power cords, and all electrical
equipmentmust be ingoodcondition. Never
operateelectricalequipmentwithdamagedor
defectivecords.
11.Storethe generatorinawellventilatedareawith
thefueltankempty. Fuelshould not bestored near
thegenerator.
12.Your generatorshould neverbe operated under
these conditions:
a.Uncontrolled changein enginespeed.
b.Electricaloutputloss.
c.Overheating inconnected equipment.
d.Sparking.
e.Damagedreceptacles.
f.Engine misfire.
g.Excessivevibration.
h.Flameor smoke.
i.Enclosedcompartment.
j.Rainorinclementweather.Donotletthe unit
getwetwhen operating.
13.Check thefuelsystemperiodically for leaks or
signs of deteriorationsuchaschafed or spongy
hose, looseor
missing clamps, or damaged tank or
cap.Alldefects should be correctedbefore
operation.
14.Thegenerator shouldbeoperated,serviced,and
refueled onlyunderthe followingconditions:
a.Startandrun thegenerator outdoors. Do
notrunthe generatorin an enclosed area,
even ifdoors orwindows areopen; avoid
areas where vapors may be trapped,such as
pits, garages,cellars, excavations and boat
bilges. DANGER -CARBON MONOXIDE
HAZARD: Theengineexhaustcontains
carbon monoxide,apoisonous,odorless,
invisiblegas which, ifbreathed,may cause
death or serious personal injury. If you start
tofeelsick, dizzy orweak whileusingthe
generator, shut it off and get to fresh air
rightaway;you may havecarbon monoxide
poisoning.
b.Good ventilation forcooling.Airflow and
temperatures areimportant forair cooled
units.Temperatures shouldnot exceed104º F
ambient(40ºC).
c.Refuelthegenerator in awelllightedarea.
Avoid fuelspillsand neverrefuel whilethe
generator is running. Allowengineto coolfor
two minutesprior to refueling.
DANGERindicatesapotentially
hazardous situation which,ifnot
avoided,WILLresult in death or
seriousinjury.

d.Do notrefuelnearopen flames, pilotlights, or
sparkingelectricalequipment such as power
tools,welders, andgrinders.
e.The mufflerand aircleanermustbeinstalled
and in good conditionatalltimes as they
function as flamearresters if backfiringoccurs.
f.Do notsmoke near thegenerator.
15.Ensurethatgenerator is properly grounded. (See
“Grounding thegenerator”section in this
manual.)
16.Do not wearloose clothing,jewelry,oranything
thatmaybe caughtinthestarteror otherrotating
parts.
17.Unitmust reachoperatingspeed beforeelectrical
loads are connected.Disconnectloads before
turning offengine.
18.Topreventsurging thatmaypossiblydamage
equipment, do notallow engineto run out of fuel
when electricalloads areapplied.
19.When powering solidstateequipment, aPower
Line Conditionershould be usedtoavoidpossible
damage to equipment.
20.Do notstickanything through ventilatingslots,
evenwhen thegenerator is not operating.This can
damage thegenerator or causepersonalinjury.
21.Before transportingthe generator inavehicle,
drain allfueltopreventleakagethatmayoccur.
22.Useproperlifting techniqueswhentransporting
thegenerator fromsiteto site.Improper lifting
techniquesmay resultin personalinjury.
23.Toavoid burns,donottouchengine muffleror
otherengineor generatorsurfaceswhich became
hot during operation.
YOUR PRODUCTMAYNOTBE EQUIPPED WITH
ASPARKARRESTINGMUFFLER. If theproductwillbe
usedaround flammablematerials,suchasagriculturalcrops,
forests,brush, grass,or othersimilaritems, then an approved
spark arrestershould be installedand is legally requiredinthe
StateofCalifornia.TheCaliforniastatutes requiring aspark
arresterare Sections 13005(b),4442 and4443. Spark
Arresters are also requiredon someU.S. ForestServiceland
and mayalsobelegallyrequiredunder other statutesand
ordinances.An approvedspark arrester is availablefromour
productdealers, or maybeordered fromPowermate

Inorder toprevent overloadingand possibledamageto
your generator itis necessary to know thetotalwattage of the
connectedload.Todetermine whichtoolsand/orappliances
your generator willrun follow thesesteps:
1.Determineifyouwant to run oneitemor multipleitems
simultaneously.
2.Checkwattagerequirements for theitems you willbe
running byreferringtothe load’s nameplateor by
calculatingit(multiplyamps xvolts =watts).
3.Total thewattsforeachitem.Ifthe nameplateonly gives
volts andamps,multiply volts xamps =watts.
1KW =1,000 watts.
4.Motorizedappliancesor tools require more than their
rated wattagefor startup.
NOTE: Allow 21/2to4times thelistedwattage for
startingequipment poweredby electricmotors.
5.Thegenerator’sratedwatts shouldmatchor exceed the
totalnumberof watts requiredforthe equipmentyou
want torun.
6.Always connecttheheaviestloadtothe generatorfirst,
thenadd otheritems oneatatime.
SPARK ARRESTER
DETERMININGTOTALWATTAGE

Apower lineconditioner shouldbeusedwhen running
oneormore of thefollowing solidstateitems:

Copymachines
Telephoneequipment
Othersolid stateequipment mayrequireapower line
conditioner.For moreinformation, contactourCustomer

Toavoid backfeeding intoutilitysystems,isolation of the
residenceelectricalsystemisrequired.
Before temporary connection of thegenerator tothe
residenceelectricalsystem, turn offthe main
service/disconnect.
If your generator is tobe used as astand-by powersource
in caseofutilitypower failure, itshould beinstalledby a
registered electrician andincompliancewithallapplicable
localelectricalcodes.
Proper use requiresthatadoublethrow transferswitch be
installed by alicensed qualifiedelectricianso thatthe
building'selectricalcircuitsmay besafelyswitched between
utilitypower andthe generator'soutput,thereby preventing
backfeedintothepowerutility'selectricalsystem.
Always follow localcodes and regulations thatapplyto
theinstallation of any itemthatconcerns this product.

OPERATINGVOLTAGE
CAUTION:Operating voltageand frequency
requirementof allelectronicequipment should be
checkedpriorto pluggingtheminto thisgenerator.
Damage mayresultif the equipment isnot designed
to operatewithin a+/-10% voltage variation, and +/-
3hz frequency variation from the generatorname
plate ratings.Toavoid damage, always havean
additionalload plugged into the generator ifsolid
stateequipment(such as atelevision set) is used.A
power lineconditioner is recommended forsome solid
stateapplications.
INSTALLATION
Toavoid possiblepersonalinjury orequipment
damage, aregisteredelectrician oran authorized
servicerepresentative shouldperforminstallation and
all service.Under no circumstances should an
unqualifiedperson attemptto wire into autility
circuit.
Toavoid backfeedingintoutilitysystems, isolation of
the residenceelectricalsystemisrequired. Before
temporaryconnection of agenerator totheresidence
electricalsystemturn off themain switch.Before
makingpermanent connections adoublethrow
transfer switch must beinstalled.Toavoid
electrocution orproperty damage, onlyatrained
electrician should connect generatorto residence
electricalsystem.Californialaw requires isolation of
the residenceelectricalsystembefore connecting a
generatorto residenceelectrical systems.Temporary
connection not recommended due to backfeeding.

GROUNDINGTHEGENERATOR
TheNationalElectricCoderequires thatthis productbe
properlyconnected to anappropriateearthground to help
preventelectricshock.Aground terminalconnectedtothe
frameofthegenerator has been providedforthis purpose.
Connectingalength of heavy gauge(12 AWGmin.)copper
wirebetweenthegenerator GroundTerminalandacopperrod
driven into theground shouldprovideasuitableground
connection.However,consultwith alocalelectricianto insure
thatlocalcodesare being adheredto.
LUBRICATION
DONOT attempt to start this enginewithout filling the
crank case withthe properamountand typeofoil. Your
generatorhasbeen shipped fromthefactory without oil inthe
crankcase. Operating theunit withoutoilcandamagethe
engine.
Filltheenginewithoilaccording to theoperator manual.
For units withadipstick, filloiltothe proper level. Units
withoutadipstickshouldbefilled tothe top of theopening of
theoil fill.
LOWOILSENSOR
Theunit is equippedwith alowoilsensor.If the oillevel
becomeslower thanrequired, thesensor willactivatea
warning deviceorstopthe engine.
Ifgenerator shuts offand theoillevelis within
specifications,check to seeifgenerator is sitting atanangle
thatforcesoilto shift. Placeonanevensurfaceto correctthis.
Ifengine fails to start, theoillevelmaynot besufficientto
deactivatelow oillevelswitch. Makesurethesumpis
completely fullof oil.
FUEL
Fillthe tank with clean,fresh unleadedautomotive
gasoline. Regular grade gasolinemaybeused providedahigh
octanerating is obtained(at least85pumpoctane).We
recommendalways usingafuelstabilizer. Afuelstabilizer
willminimizethe formulation of fuelgum deposits during
storage.Thefuelstabilizer canbe added to thegasolineinthe
fueltank,or intothe gasolineinastorage container.
GROUND TERMINALLOCATION:
BEFORE OPERATION
Do not useapipecarrying combustiblematerialas
theground source.
Do notoverfillthetank.Keep maximum fuellevel1/4
inch below thetop of the fueltank.This willallow
expansion in hot weather andprevent overflow.

B.120 V, 20 Ampere DuplexReceptacle
20 amps ofcurrent maybedrawnfromeach half of the
receptacle.However, totalpowerdrawnmust be keptwithin
nameplateratings.These receptaclesmay beusedalongwith
thetwistlockreceptacleprovidedthe generatoris not
overloaded.
C.120/240 V, 30 AmpereTwistlock Receptacle
Amaximumof 30 amps maybedrawn fromthe120/240
voltreceptacle, provideditis theonlyreceptacleused.
However, currentmust belimitedto thenameplaterating. If
the120/240 voltreceptacleis used along withthe 120 volt
receptacle,the totalloaddrawn must notexceedthe nameplate
ratings.
D.Circuit Breaker
Thereceptaclesare protectedbyanAC circuitbreaker. If
thegenerator is overloaded or an externalshortcircuitoccurs,
thecircuitbreakerwill trip.If this occurs,disconnectall
electricalloads and try todeterminethecause of theproblem
before attemptingtousethegeneratoragain.If overloading
causes thecircuitbreaker totrip,reducetheload. NOTE:
Continuous tripping of the circuitbreakermay cause
damageto generatororequipment.Thecircuitbreakermay
beresetby switchingtothe ON position.

TOOLS REQUIRED: 10mm, 13mm, and 16mm sockets and ratchets,block(s) ofwood (minimumof 6” tall).
Referto the partslist on page 37.
WHEELINSTALLATION
1.Block up the engineend ofgeneratorto install wheel kit.
2.Insertwheel spacer (item109) into thecenterof the wheel (item108).
3.Slide M10 x 95 bolt (item107) through the wheel (item108),then through the wheel bracketonthecarrier,withtheoffsetsideof the
wheelhub againstthewheelbracket.
4.Thread M10 nut (item110) onto the bolt and tightento securely clamp thewheelassembly tothe carrier.
5.Repeat above instructions for the remainingwheel.
FOOT INSTALLATION
1.Assemblethe rubber foot (item113) to the footbracket (item114) usingaM8 x 30screw (item112).ThreadaM8 nut (item111) to the
screwto secure the assembly. Caution: Do notovertighten sothatthefootmaterialcollapses.
2.Blocking up the alternatorside ofthegenerator,place the footbracketunder the carrierchannel. ThreadaM8 x 15 screw (item115)
throughthemountingholes andthreadaM8 nut (item111) to the bolt tosecurethefootbracket tothecarrier.
3.Repeat above instructions for the remainingfoot.
HANDLE INSTALLATION
1.Place handle (item119) oncarrier onsame endas feet, asshownin the diagram.
2.Slide M6 x 28 screw (item121) throughhandle and handlebracketas shown indiagramand secure with M6nut (item120). Tighten
until handle is securely clamped to the carrier.

PRE-START PREPARATION
Before starting thegenerator,check forloose or missing
parts and for anydamagewhich mayhaveoccurredduring

STARTINGTHEENGINE
1.Check oilleveland fuel.
2.Disconnectallelectricalloads from theunit.

5.Setthe engineswitch tothe “ON" position.
6.Pullonthe starterropewithfast steady pull.As the
enginewarms up,readjust thechoke.On electricstart
models,turn thekey switch to “START”. Release key

APPLYINGLOAD

capacity.Whenstartingthegenerator,disconnectall load.
Apply loadonlyaftergenerator is running. Voltageis

SHUTTINGTHE GENERATOR OFF
1.Removeentire electricalload.
2.Lettheenginerun for two minuteswithoutload.
3.Move theengine switchto the“OFF” position.(Turn

stopped.

LONGTERMSTORAGE

3.Pouraboutoneteaspoonof engineoil through thespark
plug hole,pullthe recoilstarter severaltimes andreplace
theplug.Thenpullthe starteruntilyou feelthepiston is
on its compression strokeand leaveitin thatposition.
This closes boththe intakeand exhaustvalvestoprevent
theinsideof thecylinderfromrusting.
4.Coverthe unitand storein aclean, dry placethatis well
ventilated awayfrom openflameor sparks.
NOTE:Werecommendalways usingafuelstabilizer.A
fuelstabilizerwillminimizethe formulation offuelgum
deposits during storage.Thefuelstabilizercan be added

MISE EN PLACE DE L'APPAREIL
Selon les recommandations stipulées dans leCode nation-
aldel'électricité,cetappareildoitfairel'objetd'unraccorde-
mentadéquatàuneprise deterreafindeprévenirtout risque
d'électrocution.Une bornedemiseàlaterreconnectéau bâti
du générateur est prévue àceteffet.Lebranchement d'un fil
decuivredefortcalibre(AWG 12 minimum)etde bonne
longueurentrela bornede mise àlaterredugénérateuretun
filmachine en cuivreenfoncédans cettedernièredevrait
fournir unebonne mise àlaterre. Consulter néanmoins un
électricien agrééafin devous assurerque letoutestconforme
auxcodes locaux.
LUBRIFICATION
NE PAS essayer de fairedémarrerlemoteuravantd’avoir
remplilecarter d’huile, enutilisantlaquantitéetletype
d’huileappropriés.Legroupeélectrogèneest expédiédel'u-
sineaveclecarter vide. Un moteurquitournesans huiledans
lecarter peut se trouver détruit.
Remplir lemoteur d'huileselonles directivesénoncées
dans lemanueldel’opérateur.Dans lecas des appareils dotés
d'une jauged'huile, remplirau niveauadéquat. Les appareils
quiensontdépourvus doivent fairel'objetd'un remplissage
jusqu'àl'ouverture supérieure du goulot.
LEDETECTEUR DE BASNIVEAU D'HUILE
Le systèmeest équipéd'un détecteur debas niveau
d'huile. Quand l’huiledescendau-dessous du niveaulimite, le
détecteuractivera un appareilquiavertitou arrêtelemoteur.
Silegroupeélectrogènes’arrêtemais qu’ilya
suffisamment d’huile, vérifier s'ilsetrouvesurunplan incliné,
entraînantl’accumulationd’huileàune extrémitéde
l’appareil. Si c’est lecas, remettre l'appareildeniveau.Sielle
nedémarre encorepas, ilest possibleque leniveau d’huilene
soitpas assezélevépourcouperledispositifd’arrêt.Vérifier

CARBURANT

êtreutilisée,àcondition qu’elleaitunindiced’octane élevé
(85 octaneminimum).Ilestrecommandé d'utiliserentout
temps lestabilisateurdecarburant,cequi permettra deréduire
laformationdedépôtsdegommedans lecarburant lors de son
entreposage.On peutajouterlestabilisateuràl'essenceenle
versant soit dans leréservoirdecarburant,soitdans un
récipientd'entreposage.

INSTALLATION DESROUES
1.Le bloc en haut fin demoteur de générateurpourinstallerla trousse de roue.
2.Insérer une bague d’espacement (article109) dansle centre dela roue (article108).
3.Enfiler le boulon deM10x95 (article 107) dansla roue (article108), puis dans le support de la roue sur letransporteur, enle plaçantde
façon à ceque lecôté leplusen creux dumoyeu dela roue repose contre lesupport.
4.Enfiler l’écroude M10 (article 110) sur leboulon etserrer de façon à bien fixerlarouesur la transporteur.
5.Procéder de la même façonpour l’autre roue.
INSTALLATION DUPIED
1.Monter lepied (article 113) surle supportde pied (article 114) aumoyen d'un visde M8x30 (article 112).Fixerl'ensembleen vissant
surle vis un écrouM8 (article111). Attention: ne pastrop serrer,pourne pas écraser le matériau du pied.
2.Enbloquant lecôté alternateur dela génératrice, mettre en place lesupportde pied sous leprofiléenU. Visserun vis de M8 x 15(article

3.Procéder de la même façonpour l’autre pied.
POSEDELAPOIGNEE
1.Mettre la poignée (article 119) sur lachariot ducôtéoù se trouvent les piedstelqu’indiqué surlediagramme.
2.Insérer le visde M6x28 (article 121) dans lapoignéeet support depoignéetelqu’indiqué surlediagrammeet fixer en place à l’aide de
l’écrou deM6 (article 120).Serrerjusqu’à ce que lapoignée soitbien fixée surla chariot.
3.Appliquez un aérosolde laqueouun produit adhésifsemblable sur lapoignée (article 119) etfaites ensuiteglisser la prise (article 117)
surla poignée.L'emploi del'aérosolde laqueen facilitera l'assemblage etpermettraàla prise de colleràla poignée.

PRÉPARATIFSAU DÉMARRAGE

Lorsque lemoteur se réchauffe,réglez ànouveaule
doseur.Pour lesmodèles àlancementélectrique,appuyez
sur lebouton localisé sur latêtedugénérateurou tournez
l'interrupteur sur"START" selonvotremodèle. Après que
lemoteur démarre,relâchezl'interrupteur.
BRANCHEMENTDESAPPAREILS
Cetappareilaétévérifiéetréglépourfonctionner à
pleinecapacité. Débranchertout appareilquiyestreliéavant
delemettreenmarche. Attendrequ'iltourne avantde
commenceràbrancherdes appareils dessus. Latension est
régléeparla vitessedumoteur, quiaétéajustéeàl’usinepour
assurer lapuissancevoulue. Lerajustementannulerala
garantie.
ARRETDE L’APPAREIL
1.Retireztoutelachargeélectrique.
2.Laissezlemoteurtournerpendant deux minutessans
charge.
3.Placezl’interrupteur du moteurenposition “OFF”.
(Tournezl’interrupteur àcléà“ARRÊT”pour les
modèlesàlancementélectrique.)
4.Nequittezpas le générateur jusqu’àcequ’ilsoit
complètement arrêté.

DEMARRAGE DE L'APPAREIL
ATTENTION : Laisserlegroupeélectrogènefonctionner
cinqminutes sans aucun appareilbranché dessusau
moment du démarrage initialpourpermettre au moteuret
augroupeélectrogène de sestabiliser.
•Fourniruneaération suffisantepouréliminerles gaz
d’échappement toxiques etassurerle refroidissement
du moteur.
•Ne pasfaire démarrerou fonctionnerl'appareil dans
un lieufermé, même silesporteset les fenêtres sont
grandesouvertes.
•Lesmoteurs libèrentdu monoxydedecarbone,un gaz
invisible, inodore et toxique.
•L'inhalation de monoxyde de carbone peutprovoquer
