manual. The operating company may have additional requirements
to ensure the safety of the personnel.
Comply with the signs in the work area for requirements for
protective gear.
Description of Personal Protective
Gear
Protective work clothing
Protective work clothing is tight-fitting work clothing with low re-
sistance to tearing, with tight sleeves, and without projecting parts. It
is primarily used to protect against entanglement by moving machine
parts. Do not wear rings, chains, or other jewellery.
Safety footwear
Safety footwear is used for protection against heavy falling parts and
protection against slipping on slippery substrates.
2.4 Basic hazards

lowing section.
Comply with the safety instructions listed here and the warning in-
structions in the other sections of this manual to reduce health haz-
ards and to avoid dangerous situations.
2.5 Signs
The following symbol is on the device.
WARNING!
Danger of injury due to illegible symbols!
- Always keep the warning in legible condition.
- Replace a damaged sticker without delay.
Over time stickers and signs can get dirty or in some
other manner become illegible, so that dangers cannot
be recognized and necessary operating instructions
cannot be followed. Thus an injury hazard occurs.

6 Transport, packaging, and storage
6.1 Transport inspection
Check the delivery immediately upon receipt to ensure that it is com-
plete, and to identify any transport damage.
Proceed as follows if there is apparent external damage:
Do not accept the delivery, or only accept it with reservation.
Note the extent of transport damage on the transport documents or
on the transport company's delivery ticket.
Submit a complaint.
Report any defect as soon as it is detected. Claims for
damage compensation can only be enforced during the
applicable periods for giving notice of lack of conformity.
6.2 Packaging
About the packaging
Individual packages are packed in a cardboard box suitable for the
expected transport conditions. Environmentally-friendly materials have
been used exclusively for the packaging.
Packaging should protect the device from transport damage, corro-
sion, and other damage until installation. Therefore do not destroy the
packaging; only remove it just before installation.
Handling packaging materials
Dispose of packaging materials in accordance with the respectively
valid statutory regulations and local guidelines.
NOTICE!
Improper disposal poses an environmental hazard!
- Dispose of packaging materials in an environmentally
responsible manner.
- Comply with locally applicable disposal guidelines. If
necessary commission a specialized company to
dispose of packaging.
Packaging materials are valuable raw materials and in
many cases they can be reused, or they can be
effectively treated and recycled. Improper disposal of
packaging materials causes environmental hazards.

6.3 Storage
Storage of packages
Only store packages under the following conditions:
Do not store outdoors.
Store in a dry and dust-free location.
Do not expose packages to aggressive media.
Protect the packages from direct sunlight.
Avoid mechanical vibration.
Storage temperature: -20 –53°C
Relative humidity: Max. 60%.
7 Installation and commissioning
7.1 Safety instructions for installation and commissioning
NOTICE!
Damage to the camera due to excessive
temperatures!
- Maintain sufficient distance to the measurement
object and check temperature at the place of action
prior to mounting and after commissioning
(
Chapter 3.5 “Optical Data” on page 11).
For temperatures in excess of 45°C use a cooling plate or
a cooling jacket for shielding (
Chapter 5.3 ‘Accessories’
on page 17).
Measurement inaccuracies due to vibrations,
disturbing objects, and intermediate media!
If the Thermovision Camera is exposed to high vibrations
or if disturbing objects or intermediate media (e.g.
windows, smoke, dust, steam) are located between the
Thermovision Camera and measurement object incorrect
measurements can result.
Comply with the mounting instructions (
Chapter 7.2
“Mechanical installation” on page 20).

Personnel:
Specialized personnel
Protective equipment:
Protective work clothing
Safety footwear
Proceed as follows to mount the camera:
1.
2.
Ensure that the intended mounting location satisfies the fol-
lowing conditions:
The mounting location must be free of vibration, (if
necessary ensure freedom from vibration through the use
of rubber absorbers for the fastening).
The maximum ambient temperature (
Chapter 3.5
“Optical Data” on page 11) should not be exceeded (if
necessary use cooling plates or cooling jacket
(
Chapter 5.3 ‘Accessories’ on page 17).
Any windows used between the camera and the
measurement object must be transparent in the spectral
range of the camera or have uniform transmission
characteristics (e.g. quartz glass or crown glass BK7).
The distance to the measurement object must be in the
range of the focusable measurement distance of the lens
assembly.
The cone of vision between camera and measurement ob-
ject must be free of fumes, smoke, or dust (if necessary
ensure this through the use of sight tubes that can be
purged via instrument air; sight tubes should have a mini-
mum diameter of 2x the aperture diameter of the lens as-
sembly).
Fasten the pyrometer at the place of operation with one of
the following methods:
Front-side mounting using the four M5 tapped bores
(Fig. 5)
Mounting with optional swivel mounting base or mounting
bracket (
Chapter 5.3 ‘Accessories’ on page 17).
7.3 Electrcal connection
7.3.1 Connect the power supply and data interface
The electrical connection of the Thermovision Camera (supply volt-
age and measurement signal) is executed via the 12-pin plug con-
nector on the rear of the device. Prefabricated connecting cables are
available as accessories for this purpose (
Chapter 5.3
‘Accessories’ on page 17). These cables have a soldered plug con-
nector and can be easily integrated in existing systems via a cable
clamp that must be provided by the customer
