SwitchingOntheAppliance

ThermostatSetting
Thefreezerand refrigeratorthermostatsautomaticallyregulatestheinside temperature
ofthe compartments.Byrotating theknobfromposition1to5,coldertemperatures can
be obtained.“0”positionshowsthermostatisoff, theappliance isswitched OFF butnot
disconnectedfromthemains,todothisyou mustremove theplugfromthemainsoutlet.
FreezerThermostatSetting;
0: Theapplianceisswitchedoff.
1-2: Forshort-termstorageoffood inthefreezercompartment,youcan setthe
knob betweenminimumand mediumposition.
3-4: Forlong-termstorage offoodinthefreezercompartment, you cansetknob
tomediumposition.
5: Forfreezingthefreshfood.The appliancewillrunforcoldertemperatures.
Freezing withSuperFreeze (SF button): PresstheSFbutton,thefreezerwill starttowork
longer(theSF lampwill lightorangewhenyoupreestheSF button). Thefreezer
temperaturewilldecreaseandtheappliancewill switch totothelowesttemperature
automatically.
Placethe food tobefrozen insidethefreezer,preferablyinthetop drawers.Once thefood
isfrozen,you mustturnoffthe SF buttonandsetthethermostatknobtodesiredposition.

Powerlight: Lightsgreenautomatically,when theappliance isconnectedtothepower

Alarmlight: Lightsred,when thetemperaturerises toacriticalpointinside thefreeze.
Turning OnTheAppliance
Once the appliancehasbeenconnected tothe powersupplymakesurethatthe green
lampison.Thenturnthe thermostatdialandthefreezerthermostatdialtoaposition
between 2and 4.
•Whenyoufirstswitchon the appliance,theappliance shouldwork24 hours
continuouslyuntilthefreezercoolsdownto-18°Corbelow.
•Duringthistimedonotplacefoodinsidethe appliance.
•Iftheunit isswitchedoff orunplugged,you mustallowatleast5minutesbefore
restartingorre-pluggingthe unitinordernottodamagethe compressor.

FreezerThermostatSetting;

MakingIceCubes
•FilltheIcetray withtapwaterabout3/4fullandplace itinthe freezer.
•Afterabout 3hoursIcecubeswill form,you canthen remove thembyholdingthetray
underthecoldrunning waterandtwisting itslightly.
TheInternalLight
TheinternallightwillautomaticallyswitchONand OFFwhenevertherefrigeratordooris
openedorclosed.Tochangethelightbulb,pleasesee thechapteronchanging the light
bulb.
STORAGEOFFRESHFOODINTHEREFRIGERATOR
•Foodshouldalways be coveredtightlywithfoil,plasticfilm,placed inbagsorstored
inairtightcontainers.Thiswillpreventfoodfromdehydratingandpreventthestrong
smell ofsomefoodstransferring tomilderones.
•Tostorerawmeatwrapinpolythene bagsorairtightcontainersand placeon the
lowestshelf.
•Donotallowrawmeattocomeintocontactwithcookedfoods.Forsafety,onlystore
rawmeatfortwoorthreedays.Fruit and vegetablesshouldbethoroughlycleaned
andplaced inthevegetable/saladbin.
•Milkandotherliquidsshouldbesealedwithlidsand placedinthebottleshelfon the
door.
Storefrozenfood
•Whenusing the freezerforthefirsttimeorafterdefrosting,turnthethermostat
temperaturecontroltosetting5foratleasttwohoursbeforeintroducingthefood to
be stored,thenadjusttoyourpreferredsetting.
•Allfrozen foodproductsyoupurchaseshouldbe placedinthefreezerassoonas
possibletoavoidthefrozenfood fromdefrosting.
•Storagerecommendations printedonthepackaging offrozen foodbythe
manufactures shouldalwaysbefollowed.

Refrigeratordefrostprocess
•Therefrigeratordefrostingprocess iscarriedoutautomaticallyeverytimethe
compressorstops.
•The defrostwaterdrains fromthe cabinetintoatrayplacedon the topofthe
compressortotherearoftheunit whereitevaporates.Make surethedrainholeon
theridge attheback oftherefrigeratorcompartmentiskeptclear,seethediagram
below.
Freezerdefrostprocess
•Smallamountsoffrostwillaccumulateinsidethefreezerdependinguponthelength
oftimeduring whichthedoorisleftopenortheamountofmoistureintroduced.Itis
essentialtoensurethatnofrostorice isallowed toformatplaces whereitwill affect
theclose fittingofthe doorseal.Thismightallowairtopenetratethecabinet,thus
encouraging continuousrunning ofthecompressor.Thinfrostformation isquite
soft and canberemovedwithabrushorplasticscraper.
•Donotusemetalorsharpscrapers,mechanicaldevicesor othermeanstoaccelerate
the defrostingprocess.Removealldislodgedfrostfromthecabinetfloor.
•Forthe removalofthinfrostit isnotnecessarytoswitchoff theappliance.
•Forthe removalofheavyicedepositsdisconnect theappliancefromthemainssupply
andemptythecontentsintocardboardboxesandwrapinthickblanketsorlayersof
papertokeep themcold.
•Defrostingwillbemosteffectiveifcarriedoutwhenthe freezerisnearlyempty,and it

Freezing freshfood
•Ensurethatyourfreezing operationsarecarriedoutunderthemosthygienic
conditions,as freezingalone does notsterilise thefood.Neverputhotoreven warm
foodstuffsintothe freezer.Priortostoring thefood,packitinplasticbags,aluminium
foilorfreezercontainersandplaceintothefreezerwithoutputtingthemincontact
withfoodthathasalreadybeenfrozen.Seethetechnicaldatasheetattherearof
thisbookletforthe maximumpermissibleamountinkilogramsoffreshfood that
can be frozeninany24hourperiod witharoomtemperatureof25°CNeverfreeze
morethanthe maximumpermissible.

samewayandreassemble.Reconnecttheappliancetothemainssupplyandleave
for2to3hoursonsettingnumber 7beforeintroducingthefoodbackintothe freezer.

ReplacingtheRefrigeratorLightBulb
1. Unplugtheunitfromthe mainssupply,
2. Remove therefrigeratorlightcover(A)bypressing
thehooks placed onbothsidesofthecover.
3. Changethelightbulb(B)withanewone(typeE14
Base 15W).
4. Replacethe lightcoverandthe appliance intothe
mainssupply.

Cleaningandmaintenance
• Beforeanycleaningormaintenanceiscarriedoutyoumustdisconnecttheappliance
fromthemainssupplybyremovingtheplug,neverremovethe plugbypulling on the
mainscord.Removethe plugbypulling on theplugitself.
• It isrecommended thatwhencleaning theappliance,boththeinside and outside,
can be cleaned usingwarmwaterand alittlebicarbonateofsoda.Use 1teaspoon
to1.2litresofwater.
• Ifthe appliance isnottobe used foralong period oftimethenit isrecommendedto
remove allthefoodstuff,cleantheinsideoftheapplianceand leave thedooropen
toallowthe airtocirculatethus avoidingunpleasantodours.
PowerFailure
• Ifthereisapowerfailureforashort timelessthan16hrskeepthedoorclosed

• Extraprotectioncan be givenbycovering theappliancewithtwoorthreethick blankets.

(bubblingsound)even whenthecompressorisnotrunning.Donotworry,thisisquite
normal. If thesesounds areloudcheckif;
