1.2 Product Overview
PROLiNK® PRC2401U Wireless AC2600 is designed to adequately accommodate user demand for
high-speed internet access and local network connectivity. PRC2401U is the right choice for Small
Office/Home Office (SOHO) user, which required reliable network connectivity with advanced
features. PROLiNK® PRC2401U come with 4 units of 5dBi High Gain antenna to boost the Wi-Fi
signal coverage by eliminating the Wi-Fi dead zone.
PROLiNK® PRC2401U is coming with one Gigabit port of WAN, four ports of Gigabit LAN and
USB3.0 Port. With USB3.0 file sharing within the local network become more efficient and fast. User
can enjoy local media server across the network without any hassle using a DLNA media server. With
multiple number user connected to the network, they experience lag-free due to AC Wave 2 and MU-
MIMO capability supported. For gaming user, use Quality of Service (QoS) by drag and drop setting to
experience a reliable and fast internet connection, even with many users are connected at the same
time.
PROLiNK® PRC2401U initial setup is simple and easy. Using web interface configuration, new user
and the advanced user manage to configure the router easily. PRC2401U’s web interface configuration
page is designed to suit for all user.

2 Router Installation
This chapter will guide you how to setup a router with your ISP network. Please ensure do not place the
router in enclosed area such as closet and cabinet.
2.1 Setup Requirement
In order to setup PRC2401U you need to ensure the following item in the list is available.
•Internet Access (DSL, Modem or existing Wireless Router).
•Ethernet Cable with RJ45 connector at both end.
•Computer equip with Ethernet Network adapter RJ45 (10Base-T or 100Base-TX or 1000Base-
TX).
•Wireless Network Adapter capability IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac.
•Web Browser such as (Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, or Safari).
2.2 Router Positioning
For the best Wi-Fi signal transmission between PRC2401U and network devices that connect to it:
•Place the PRC2401U in a well-ventilated place and avoid exposure to moisture or excessive
heat.
•Keep away or avoid placing PRC2401U from electrical devices or appliance that generate the
electromagnetic wave. To prevent Wi-Fi signal interference and signal loss
•Place PRC2401U where it can be connected to multiple client and power source to ease the
installation work.
•If possible, use a wired connection below 2 meters during the setup process to avoid any
problem possibilities

2.3 Hardware Setup
There are several different ways you can configure your router to connect to the Internet and connect to
your clients. Step guide below shows how the hardware connection setup for each mode available for
PRC2401U.
Router Mode Setup
The following is a step to setup PRC2401U as Router Mode. If your internet connection source is
coming from ADSL/Modem, follow the following step below to complete the hardware connection.
1. Turn OFF modem.
2. Connect Ethernet cable between modem Internet port to PRC2401U WAN Port.
3. Connect Ethernet cable between Computer LAN port to PRC2401U LAN port.
4. Turn ON power for modem and PRC2401U. The booting up may require a few seconds for it to
finish.

Access Point Mode Setup
1. Turn OFF Main Router/Existing Router
2. Connect Ethernet cable between Main/Existing Router LAN port to PRC2401U WAN Port.
3. Connect Ethernet cable between Computer LAN port to PRC2401U LAN port.
4. Turn ON power Main/Existing Router and PRC2401U. The boot process takes a few seconds to
complete.

Repeater Mode Setup
1. Turn OFF Main/Existing Router.
2. Connect Ethernet cable between Computer LAN port to PRC2401U LAN port.
3. Turn ON power Main/Existing Router and PRC2401U. The rebooting process takes a few
seconds to complete.

3 Getting Started
In the previous chapter, we have made a network hardware connection setup between Computer and
PRC2401U through LAN port. In this chapter, it guides user on how to check TCP/IP setup before
getting started, how to logging into the PRC2401U Web User Interface configuration and PROLiNK
mConnectApps and guide on using Quick Setup Wizard.
3.1 TCP/IP Setup
By default PRC2401U IP address is 192.168.123.254 and Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0. You are
allowed to change the setting base your network architecture. To change the PRC2401U network
setting refer to page 38 Network Configuration.
Ensure your TCP/IP Protocol is set to “Obtain an IP address automatically” for Windows OS or “Using
DHCP” for MAC OS. PRC2401U is assigned the IP Address to the connected Computer.

To verify the connection between Computer and PRC2401U, you need to run the command prompt and
execute Ping command to PRC2401U IP address. To execute Ping command you need to type ping
192.168.123.254 then press Enter to start ping command. The ping test result, as shown in the
following figure.
If you encounter different result from the above result, it indicates your connection between Computer
and PRC2401U failed. The following step is to rectify the connection issue:
1. Check the physical connection between Computer and PRC2401U. Ensure the Ethernet cable is
inserted correctly into the LAN port. At the same time observe the LED indicator on
PRC2401U for LAN LED indicator and on Computer network adapter (if applicable)
2. Ensure the IP Address provided by PRC2401U is valid and not overlapping with other
Computer by checking through the TCP/IP configuration of the network adapter.

3.2 Log-in into the Web User Interface Configuration
PRC2401U equipped with Web-based Utility configuration. All the setting interface is simple and easy
to configure. Web Utility can be open from multiple OS from Windows, Mac OS and Linux. Web
Utility is not restricted to Microsoft Edge only, but the user can enter through Mozilla Firefox, Chrome,
Opera or Apple Safari.
Run any web browser that available in your computer. On the URL box enter the default IP Address
of PRC2401U of the device link address. Default IP address is “http://192.168.123.254”, or you can
enter default device link is “http://prc2401u.local”. For the first time login of PRC2401U user be
directed to Setup Wizard page.
If you are entering the Web Utility for the next time after finish up all the Setup Wizard, it redirects
to the login page of PRC2401U. At this stage, the user needs to enter a login password. The default
password for login page is “password”. If the login was unsuccessful, it prompt with notification of
incorrect password entered.

3.3 Log-in into the PROLiNK mConnect
PROLiNK PRC2401U configuration can also set through the mobile application. PROLiNK mConnect
is currently available on Android and iOS.
PROLiNK mConnect apps are the easiest way to access and also to manage the PROLiNK router
where it can help the user to easily monitor Internet status, device status, Data statistic, and connected
clients information using Dr Wi-Fi. At the same times the user can configure the Parental Control, Wi-
Fi Setting, Guest Wi-Fi Setting, change to best Wireless Channel through Channel Scan,
The following steps are for you to enter the PROLiNK mConnect mobile application.
1. Download and install the mobile application. For Android user go to Google Playstore and for
iOS user go to App Store.
2. Ensure Wi-Fi is ON and connected to PRC2401U.

3. Open the PROLiNK mConnect.
4. For first time login into your PRC2401U, you will be redirected to Setup Wizard.
5. Accessing mConnect for second times will redirect you to the Home page.

3.4 Quick Setup Wizard
PROLiNK® PRC2401U come with three operation mode available for user choose base on network
infrastructure. Operation mode available is Router Mode, Access Point Mode and Repeater Mode. For
the first time entering the PRC2401U web utility, you are recommended to complete the Setup Wizard.
Router Mode
1. Select operation mode as Router.
2. Select WAN Connection type. Select WAN Connection type base on your ISP (Internet
Service Provider) subscription. Available option are DHCP Client, PPPoE and Static IP
Address.
