Headset Compatibility
The PRYMEBLU BTH-TA5 headset adapter is compatible with many wired mu headsets made by
dierent manufacturers. To be compatible, the headset must use a Switchcraft TA5 connector
with industry standard wiring. The standard pin out for the TA5 is shown below. Contact your
headset manufacturer if you are unsure whether your headset is wired correctly.
Additionally, the headset must use a low-voltage type microphone element such as an
electret-condenser type with a bias voltage requirement of 1.5 VDC or less. Microphone
cartridges with a higher voltage requirement (such as 3 or 5 VDC) are not compatible with the
PRYMEBLU BTH-TA5. Contact your headset manufacturer if you are unsure about the
microphone’s power requirement.
Compatible Models from PRYME: PRYME makes two mu headsets which are compatible with
the BTH-TA5 adapter.
MC-EMAIR: This headset is fully compatible with the BTH-TA5 adapter.
HDS-EM-B/C: This headset is compatible with the BTH-TA5 but the high-gain (electret)
microphone cartridge must be used, not the noise-cancelling (dynamic) microphone.

Charging the PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter
The PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter has an internal Lithium Ion rechargeable battery pack which must
be charged prior to operation, and must be recharged regularly. A fully charged battery will provide
approximately 10 hours (or more) of operation before needing to be recharged. However, operating
time can vary depending on usage and the condition of the battery pack. Recharge the battery
regularly.
STEP ONE: Charging the PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter
To charge the PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter
1. Ensure the PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter is turned o, using the switch located on the back of the
device.
2. Plug the supplied wall charger into a standard 120 volt AC outlet.
3. Plug the charge cable into the AC wall charger and then into the charge jack on the bottom of the
PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter. You will need to remove the protective rubber cover that is inserted
into the charge jack. (To prevent dust and moisture from damaging your lapel microphone, always
ensure this cover is in place when you are not charging the adapter.)
4. Once the charging process has begun, the LED indicator on the side of the PRYMEBLU Headset
Adapter will show a constant red light. When the battery is done charging, the LED light will change
to a green color.
5. Typical charge time is approximately 2-3 hours. Actual charge time will vary depending on several
factors including the battery’s charge state, condition, and age.
6. Disconnect the charger from the adapter when charging is completed.
Charging Cautions:
- Use only the wall charger supplied by the manufacturer. Do not use any other charger.
- Do not use a wall charger that appears to be damaged. (Example: frayed wires, melted plastic, etc.)
Contact PRYME to get a new manufacturer-approved replacement charger.
- Do not tamper with or modify the PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter or charger.
-Always turn the power switch to the o position when charging the PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter.

Connecting the Adapter to a Headset
STEP TWO: Connecting the Adapter to a Headset
1. Plug the Adapter’s TA5 Headset Connector into the jack on the mu headset. Ensure that the
connector is pushed all the way into the jack until it locks into place.
2. Secure the adapter to the headset using the Velcro Fastener. On most headsets the best place to
secure the adapter is to the headband that goes over the user’s head (or behind the head depending
on the design of the headset).
Pairing the Headset Adapter with a Phone or Radio
STEP THREE: Pairing the Adapter to a Phone or Radio
When pairing the PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter with a cellular phone, Bluetooth-enabled two-way
radio, or a PRYMEBLU Radio Adapter, rst make sure that the Headset Adapter is powered o.
1. Place the phone or radio into pairing mode following the instructions provided by the
manufacturer. For PRYMEBLU Radio Adapters, hold down the multifunction Talk button on the
PRYMEBLU Adapter while powering the adapter ON. (For PRYMEBLU Adapters which get their
power from the two-way radio, hold down the Talk button while turning the radio on.) Continue to
hold down the Talk button until the LED on the Adapter changes from a single ash to a double
ash, about three seconds.
2. Place the PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter into pairing mode by holding down the multifunction Talk
button while turning the slide Power Switch on the adapter to the ON position. Continue to hold
down the Talk button until the LED on the Adapter ashes in a BLUE-RED-BLUE-RED pattern, about
three seconds.
3. On some phones you may be prompted to enter a passcode for the Bluetooth connection to
complete. If so, enter code: “0000”.
4. Place the phone or radio and Headset Adapter in proximity to one another and wait. After a few
seconds, the two devices should are synch with each other. Once paired with each other, the status
LED on the Headset Adapter will show one blue ash every four seconds.
Reconnecting to a Previously Paired Phone or Radio
Once the PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter has been successfully paired to a phone or radio, both devices
will remember that connection. The adapter and phone/radio will attempt to reestablish their link
whenever the two devices are both turned on and in within range of each other. Re-establishing this
connection can take 10-60 seconds.
Using the PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter
Once your PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter and phone or radio have been paired together:
Received signals will be heard over the earphones in the mu headset. The volume of received calls
can be adjusted using the volume control knob on the two-way radio. Some mu headsets also
feature a built-in volume control knob which can be used.
For Two-Way Radios, Push-to-Talk can be activated one of several dierent ways:
• By pressing and holding the Multifunction button on the PRYMEBLU Headset Adapter.
• By pressing and holding the PTT button located on the muff headset.
• By pressing and holding the Talk button on the radio’s PRYMEBLU Adapter.
• Using an optional wired PTT that is compatible with the PRYMEBLU Adapter.
