What is the AMIGA 520 Video Adapter?
The Commodore Amiga Video Adapter is adevice thai allows you to conned your Amiga
500 to aTV set or a composite video monitor. It does this by converting the RGB video
Signal the Amiga produces for RGB monitors to acomposite video signal that aTV or

I. Make sure both the TV and the Amiga are OFF.
WARNING: Before connecting any cables, make
sure the power to the computer is OFF, to avoid
damaging cither unit.
Grasp the A520 and line up its RGB connector
with the RGB video port on the back of the
computer. The two should lit together with just a
slight push. (If they do not ,chuck that the pins in
the A500*s connector are straight and that the
A520 is right side up. Now try again.)

Plug one end of the TV connector cable into the
jack marked COMPUTER at the top of the TV
switch box.

Connect the main stem of the y-audio cable i;
the AUDIO IN port on the side of the A520.
10. Connect the other two ends of the y-audio cable
to the LAUDIO and RAUDIO on the back of the
Amiga. (It does not matter which side of the
y-audio cable you connect to the Lof RAUDIO.
)
NOTE: If you want to connect the Amiga's audio
output to your stereo, rather than your TV\ you
must buy two additional cables, called "RCA
plug to RCA plug," (available in most electron-
ics or hardware stores) to connect to your particu-
lar stereo. Connect the two cables from the Land
RAUDIO ports on the computer to the Land R
AUX inputs on your amplifier and select AUX
input on your stereo.

CAUTION: If the house AC wall outlet is not the 3-
pronged type, contact an electrician to install the
correct 3-pronged outlet. If amulti-connector
box is used to connect the computer and peri-
pherals to the AC line, the AC ground must be
common to all units. Contact an electrician if you
are not sure if your system is grounded properly.

15. Turn the television and the Amiga ON. Your
Amiga is now ready to use.

For TVs with 75-ohm Antenna Wires
If your antenna cable is the round 75-ohm type, you will need f
adapters (available in most electronics or hardware stores).

Use one of the adapters to attach the VHF antenna cable to the screw
the TV switch box, and the other to attach the TV switch box's ante
television's VHF terminals. After attaching the necessary converters t
follow the directions for TVs with 30(hoh»i Antenna Wires.

If your monitor has its own cable, connect this
cable to the VIDEO OUT port on the A520. Other-
wise, connect one end of the TV connector cable
to the VIDEO IN port on the monitor and the other
end to VIDEO OUT on the A520.

If You Have aProblem . . .
If the screen display is not clear, try adjusting the controls on your television set or
monitor. You may not get apicture at all if your control settings or connections are not
correct. In such acase you should check all your settings and connections. Often the TV
may simply be tuned to the wrong channel, or you may have the brightness turned off.
The Trouble-shooting Chart shown on the following pages lists some of the more common
problems and tells how to correct them.

Commodore CUSTOMER SERVICE personnel at this number will help you find and
correct the problem. If the problem cannot be corrected over the phone, you will be given
the number of the Commodore service facility nearest you. Commodore has over 750
independent companies, including the RCA Service Company, ready to provide nation-
wide service and maintenance for your Commodore equipment.
Most set-up and start-up problems arc simple and can be diagnosed over the phone. By
calling CUSTOMER SUPPORT, you can probably avoid an unnecessary trip to the
service facility. More important, you can continue to use your equipment.
Remember—Call the CUSTOMER SUPPORT number before you take any equip-
ment in for warranty service.
