1. Technical description.
1.1 General description.
A buffer PSU is intended for an uninterrupted supply to alarm system devices requiring stabilized voltage of
12V/DC (+/-15%). A linear stabilizing system, which has been used in the unit, provides voltage with a lower level
of noise and a quicker response to interference when compared to a switched-mode regulator. The PSU provides
voltage of Uout = 12,8V ÷ 13,8V DC during buffer operation, with current capacity:
1. Output current 3A (without a battery)
2. Output current 2,3A + 0,7A battery charge
Total current of the receivers + battery: 3A max.
In case of power decay, a battery back-up is activated immediately. The battery is protected against
over-discharge (UVP). The PSU is housed in a metal enclosure which can accommodate a 17Ah/12V battery. It
features a micro switch that indicates door opening (front cover).
CAUTION! In case of using the PSU for CCTV, KD, SSWiN devices (or other, of similar application), it
is recommended to use an over voltage protection module MZN1 in the output circuit of DC power.

2. Installation
2.1 Requirements
The buffer PSU is to be mounted by a qualified installer, holding relevant permits and licenses (applicable
and required for a given country) for 230V/AC and low-voltage installations. The unit should be mounted in
confined spaces, in accordance with the 2nd environmental class, with normal relative humidity (RH=90%
maximum, without condensing) and temperature from -10°C to +40°C. The PSU shall work in a vertical pos ition
that guarantees sufficient convectional air-flow through ventilating holes of the enclosure.

Total current of the receivers + battery: 3A max.
As the PSU is designed for a continuous operation and is not equipped with a power-switch, therefore an
appropriate overload protection shall be guaranteed in the power supply circuit. Moreover, the user shall be
informed about the method of unplugging (usually through assigning an appropriate fuse in the fuse-box). The
electrical system shall follow valid standards and regulations.
2.2 Installation procedure
Before installation, make sure that the voltage in the 230V power-supply circuit is cut off.
1. Mount the PSU in a selected location and connect the wires.
2. Connect the power cables (~230Vac) to L-N clips of the PSU. Connect the ground wire to the clip marked by the
earth symbol PE. Use a three-core cable (with a yellow and green PE protection wire) to make the connection.
Lead the cables to the appropriate clips through the insulating bushing.
The shock protection circuit shall be performed with a particular care, i.e. the yellow and
green wire coat of the power cable shall stick to one side of the terminal - marked with
‘‘symbol on the PSU enclosure. Operation of the PSU without the properly made and
fully operational shock protection circuit is UNACCEPTABLE! It can cause a device
failure or an electric shock.
3. Connect the receivers’ cables to the +OUT, -OUT connectors of the terminal block on the PSU board (optionally
connect the MZN1 module to the +OUT output, and the receivers to the module’s output).
4. If necessary, connect the device conductors to the TAMPER technical output (the indicator preventing the PSU
from unwanted opening)
5. Activate the ~230V/AC supply (the POWER diode and the OUT diode should be permanently illuminated)
6. Check the output voltage (the PSU voltage without load should amount to 13,6 V÷ 13,9 V, during battery charge:
12,8 V÷13,8 V). If the value of the voltage requires adjustment, it should be set by the P1 potentiometer, monitoring
the voltage at the OUT output of the PSU.
7. Connect the battery in accordance with the markings (colours): +BAT red to ‘plus’, -BAT black to ‘minus’
8. Once the tests and operation control have been completed, the enclosure can be locked.

3. Operating status indication.
3.1 LED indication
The PSU is equipped with two diodes on the front panel.
3.2 Technical output:
The PSU is equipped with technical output:
•TAMPER - output indicates opening the power-supply unit. The output’s volt-free (potential-free)
contacts indicate PSU door status:
- unit closed: NC,
- unit opened: NO
4. Operation and use.
4.1 Overload or short circuit of the PSU output
The OUT output is equipped with a protection due to a PTC polymer fuse. If the load of the PSU exceeds

(load 110% ÷ 150% of the PSU power @65 ºC÷25ºC) the output voltage is automatically cut off and indicated
by the green diode going out. To restore the output power and to protect the PTC, cut off the output load for
approximately 1 minute.
In the case of a short-circuit to the OUT, ACC output (load 200% ÷ 250% of the PSU power) or a reverse
polarity connection, the F
BAT
fuse in the battery circuit becomes permanently damaged and the restoration of the
voltage at the ACC output requires replacement of the fuse.
4.2 Battery-assisted operation.
Activating the PSU from the battery.
Battery-assisted operating time depends on: battery capacity, charging level and load current. E.g. for a
typical, fully-charged 17Ah battery and 3A load current, the maximum safe operating time equals approximately
4,5h.
The PSU is equipped with a discharged battery disconnection system (UVP). During battery-assisted
operation (with no 230V mains supply), the battery is off when the voltage at the terminals drops
below ~10V (-/+ 5%). The battery will be ready to work after charging it with the 230V mains supply.
4.3 Maintenance
Any and all maintenance operations may be performed following the disconnection of the PSU from the
power supply network. The PSU does not require performing any specific maintenance measures, however, in the
case of significant dust rate, its interior is recommended to be cleaned with compressed air. In the case of a fuse
replacement, use a replacement of the same parameters.

WEEE MARK
According to the EU WEE Directive – It is required not to dispose of electric or electronic waste as
unsorted municipal waste and to collect such WEEE separately.
The power supply unit is adapted for a sealed lead-acid battery (SLA). After the operation period it must not be disposed of but recycled
according to the applicable law.
GENERAL WARRANTY CONDITIONS
1. Pulsar K. Bogusz Sp.j. (the manufacturer) grants a f ve-years warranty for the equ pment, counted from the
dev ce’s product on date.
2. The warranty ncludes free-of-charge repa r or replacement w th an appropr ate equ valent (the select on s at
the manufacturer’s d scret on) f the malfunct on s due to the manufacturer, ncludes manufactur ng or mater al
defects, unless such defects have been reported w th n the warranty per od ( tem 1).
3. The equ pment subject to warranty s to be brought to the place where t was purchased, or d rectly to the ma n
off ce of the manufacturer.
4. The warranty appl es to complete equ pment, accompan ed by a properly f lled warranty cla m w th a descr pt on
of the defect.
5. Should the cla m be accepted, the manufacturer s obl ged to prov de warranty repa rs, at the earl est
conven enve, however not later that w th n 14 days from the del very to the serv ce centre of the manufacturer.
6. The repa r per od ment oned n tem 5 may be prolonged, f there are no techn cal poss b l t es to carry out the
repa rs, or f the equ pment has been cond t onally accepted, due to the break ng warranty terms by the cla mant.
7. All the serv ces rendered by force of the warranty are carr ed out at the serv ce centre of the manufacturer,
exclus vely.
8. The warranty does not cover the defects of the equ pment, result ng from:
- reasons beyond the manufacturer's control,
- mechan cal damage,
- mproper storage and transport,
- use that v olates the operat on manual or equ pment’s ntended use
- fortu tous events, nclud ng l ghtn ng d scharges, power fa lures, f re, flood, h gh temperatures and chem cal
agents,
- mproper nstallat on and conf gurat on ( n def ance w th the manual),
9. The warranty s vo d n any of the follow ng c rcumstances:

- repa rs carr ed out by any unauthor zed serv ce center
- damage or removal of warranty labels
- mod f cat ons of the ser al number
10. The l ab l ty of the manufacturer towards the buyer s l m ted to the value of the equ pment, determ ned
accord ng to the wholesale pr ces suggested by the manufacturer on the day of purchase.
11. The manufacturer takes no repons b l ty for the defects that result from:
- the damag ng, malfunct on ng or nab l ty to operate the equ pment
- defects that result from us ng the equ pment outs de ts stated spec f cat ons and operat ng parameters fa l ng to
ab de by the recommendat ons and requ rements conta ned n the manual, or the use of the equ pment.
