5. Store idle tools. When not in use, tools
should be stored in a dry locked-up place,
out of reach of children.
6. Do not force the tool. It will do the job
better and safer at the rate for which it was
intended.
7. Use the right tool. Do not force small
tools to do the job of a heavy duty tool. Do
not use tools for purposes not intended; for
example do not use circular saws to cut tree
limbs or logs.
8. Dress properly. Do not wear loose
clothing or jewellery, they can be caught
in moving parts. Non-skid footwear is
recommended when working outdoors.
Wear protective hair covering to contain
long hair.
9. Use protective equipment. Use safety
glasses. Use face or dust mask if working
operations create dust.
10. Connect dust extraction equipment.
If the tool is provided for the connection of
dust extraction and collection equipment,
ensure these are connected and
properly used.
11. Do not abuse the cord. Never yank
the cord to disconnect it from the socket.
Keep the cord away from heat, oil and sharp
edges.
12. Secure work. Where possible, use
clamps or a vice to hold the work. It’s much
safer than using your hand.
13. Don’t over reach. Keep proper footing
and balance at all times.
14. Maintain tools with care. Keep
cutting tools sharp and clean for better
and safer performance. Follow instructions
for lubricating and changing accessories.
Inspect tool cords periodically and, if
damaged, have them repaired by an
authorised service facility. Inspect extension
cord periodically and replace immediately if
damaged. Keep handles dry, clean and free
from oil and grease.
15. Disconnect tools. When not in use,
before any servicing and when changing
accessories such as blades, bits, cutters,
disconnect tool from the power source.
16. Remove adjusting keys and spanners.
Form the habit of checking to see the keys
and adjusting spanners are removed from
the tool before turning it on.
17. Avoid unintentional starting. Ensure
switch is in “off” position when plugging in.
18. Use outdoor extension leads. When
the tool is used outdoors, use only extension
cords intended for outdoor use and so
marked.
19. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing,
use common sense and do not operate the
tool when you are tired.
20. Check damaged parts. Before further
use of tool, it should be carefully checked
to determine that it will operate properly
and perform the intended function. Check
for alignment of moving parts, mountings
and any other components that may affect
its operation. A guard or other part that is
damaged should be properly repaired or
replaced by an authorised service centre
unless otherwise indicated in this instruction
manual. Have defective switches replaced
by an authorised service centre. Do not use
the tool if the switch does not turn it on and
off.
21. WARNING. The use of any accessory or
attachment other than one recommended in
this instruction manual may present a risk of
personal injury.
22. Have your tool repaired by a qualied
person. This electric tool complies with
relevant safety rules. Repairs should only
be carried out by qualied persons using
original spare parts. Otherwise this may
result in considerable danger to the user.
HEALTH ADVICE
WARNING: When drilling, sanding, sawing
or grinding, dust particles will be produced.
In some instances, depending on the
materials you are working with, this dust can
be particularly harmful to you (e.g. lead from
old gloss paint). You are advised to consider
the risks associated with the materials you
are working with and to reduce the risk of
exposure.

5
You should:
• Work in a well-ventilated area.
• Work with approved safety equipment,
such as dust masks that are specially
designed to lter microscopic particles.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR YOUR
PURE 18V ANGLE GRINDER
WARNING: The use of a hand held Angle
Grinder poses intrinsic risks to the operator.
You should rst consider if a different
machine is more appropriate
for the task at hand. Observation of all of
the following rules is essential for the safe
operation of this machine. This machine
must not be used for cutting operations;
it is a grinding machine only.
1. Do not expose to rain or water.
2. Do not drop, shake or strike the battery.
3. Wear hearing protection when
necessary. Exposure to noise can cause
hearing loss.
4. Cutting/Grinding discs and
accessories can become very hot.
Take care when changing or handling
any discs or accessories.
3. Recharge the battery only with the
charger specied by the manufacturer.
A charger that is suitable for one type of
battery pack may create a risk of re when
used with another battery pack.
4. Use this power tool only with specially
designated battery packs. Use of any
other battery packs may create a risk of
injury and re.
5. When the battery pack is not in use,
keep it away from other metal objects
like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws
or other small metal objects that can
make a connection from one terminal
to another. Shorting the battery terminals
together may cause burns or a re.
6. Under extreme conditions electrolyte
may be leak from the battery. If contact
accidentally occurs, ush your skin with
water. If electrolyte contacts your eyes,
additionally seek medical help. Electrolyte
from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
7. Hold the tool by the insulated gripping
surfaces, especially when performing an
operation where the Disc may contact
hidden wiring. If the Disc contacts a ‘live’
wire, exposed metal parts of the power tool
could become ‘live’ and give the operator
an electric shock.
8. If possible, use clamps or a vice
to hold your work.
9. When cutting into walls, oors or
similar areas, make sure, as far as
possible, that there are no services
(gas or water pipes, electric cables etc)
in the path of the blade. Striking hidden
services could cause injury to the user and
damage to the property.
10. Always remove the Grinder battery
before changing the disc. Never use
damaged or distorted discs. Only use discs
that comply with EN12413 or EN13236, and
ensure that the disc used is suitable for the
no load speed of the Angle Grinder. Only
discs that are specically designed for use
in hand held Angle Grinders should be
used. Check the date on the disc to ensure
that the disc is not ‘time expired’.
11. Always allow the disc to come to a
complete halt before putting it down.
A running tool may bounce uncontrollably if
the disc contacts any surface.
12. Always consider the work environment
and wear the appropriate PPE (Personal
Protection Equipment). This could include
dust masks, eye protection, aprons, gloves,
safety footwear and knee pads if working at
oor level etc.

Angle Grinder

6
13. This is a two handed machine.
Never try to use this machine with one hand,
and never use this grinder whilst sitting on
the oor.
14. Sparks, dust and waste particles
may be ejected during grinding
operations. Use safety screens, if
necessary, to protect and keep bystanders
at a safe distance from operations.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR
GRINDING DISCS
WARNING: Always read the Safety
Instructions and advice printed on
the Disc.
1. Speed. Check that the speed rating
of the disc is compatible with the no load
speed of the machine. Never use a disc with
a speed rating less than the speed rating of
the machine.
2. Always inspect the disc. Never use a
disc that is chipped, cracked or damaged in
any way. Disintegration of a damaged disc
in use can cause serious injury. Defective
discs MUST be destroyed.
3. Mounting and Handling. Bonded
abrasive products are breakable and must
be handled with great care. The use of
damaged or incorrectly mounted abrasive
discs is potentially very dangerous.
Fragments from a disintegrating disc can
cause serious injury.
4. Usage. Read the disc label for specic
applications and user instructions, and
observe any safety information. Do not use
for any non-specied tasks. Wet grinding
procedures must not be attempted with this
machine.
5. Do not force the disc. Allow the speed of
the disc to do the work. Never push or force
the disc onto the workpiece as this could
lead to disc damage and potential operator
danger. Allow the disc to glide over the work
surface, returning again and again until the
desired nish is achieved. Trying to grind
away too much of the work surface in one
pass could lead the disc jamming and cause
signicant ‘kickback’ to occur.
6. Do not use reducing rings or bushes
with this machine. Only use discs which
are specially designed for this machine. It is
not permissible to adapt discs not designed
for use in this machine.
7. Handling and Storage. Bonded abrasive
products must be handled, transported
and stored with great care. Discs should
be stored in a secure cupboard or
similar where they will not be subjected
to mechanical shock and any adverse
environmental inuences (freezing or
very high temperatures, moisture ingress,
sunlight damage etc). If possible store each
disc in its own dedicated storage carton or
box.
WARNING
This machine is not intended for use by
persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities,
or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning the safe use of the
machine by a person responsible for their
safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not have access to, and are not
allowed to play with, this machine.
