Congratulations!
Congratulations on your new QEES product. QEES Ring
is a miniature remote control designed to be placed in a
key chain. With a QEES Ring, you always have the remote
control handy. QEES Ring uses Z-Wave technology to com-
municate with other units and can control a large number of
different units. You can for example use QEES Ring to switch
offlight and standby consumption when leaving the home,
to open the garage door, to switch on the light in the hall to
avoid having to enter a dark house, etc.
Unpacking and installation
When you receive your QEES Ring, the box contains 1
QEES Ring and 1 battery of the type CR2032. In order to
insert the battery, you need a small screwdriver. Carefully
remove the 2 screws and disassemble the QEES Ring. Insert
the battery, make sure that it is turned the right way, and
reassemble the QEES Ring. After this, you are ready to set
up your QEES Ring.
Setup and configuration
Your QEES can be used as the primary controller of a
Z-Wave-based home automation network, or can be used as
part of an already existing installation. This means that you do
not need a dedicated Z-Wave master, such as QEES Master,
to use QEES Ring. If you want to useQEES Ring in connection
with a master or another Z-Wave remote control, you have to
include QEES Ring on this unit and then follow the instruc-
tions for the unit to associate functionality with QEES Ring.
If you do not have a master or another Z-Wave remote
control, and QEES Ring is your first Z-Wave-based remote
control, you can include units by pushing one time, briefly,
on the service button placed on the back of your QEES Ring.
QEES Ring flashes green 1 time per second, and activate the
unit to be included. When you have included the unit, you
can choose to associate it with a button on yourQEES Ring.
QEES Ring has a total of 4 buttons that can each have one
or more associations to units in the Z-Wave network. In
order to create an association, you have to push the service
button 1 time, followed by push 1 time on the button you
want to use to control the unit. QEES Ring flashes red and
green, and you can activate the unit to be included.
It is important that the unit you want to use withQEES Ring
is not already part of a Z-Wave network. If this is the case,
you have to exclude the unit first. You can useQEES Ring to
exclude any unit by pushing the service button twice and
then activating the unit you want to exclude.
Daily use
When you have set up your QEES Ring, you are ready to
control light, curtains, standby power, etc. Each button on
QEES Ring has 4 different push combinations that are used
to control your units. To switch on a unit, you have to push
the button briefly 1 time. To switch offa unit, you have to
push the button briefly 2 times. To turn up light or open
window or curtain more, etc., hold down the button until
you achieve the desired setting. To turn down light or close
window or curtain slightly, push the button briefly 1 time,
followed by holding down the button until you achieve the
desired setting.
Disposal
QEES Ring contains electronics and should therefore not
be disposed of with regular household waste. The unit
must be handed in at a recycling centre that is capable of
handling electronics waste.
