Adapter.!Slide!the!shoe!on!the!camera,!and!tighten!down!onto!the!camera.!!SEE!VIDEO!

Attach!the!QSM1!Mini!Shockmount!to!the!QM1!Run!And!Gun!Cold!Shoe.!!
Start!with!the!top!wheel!loosened!down!on!the!shoe.!Carefully!twist!the!shockmount!on!all!
the!way.!Then!unscrew!the!shockmount!a!quarter!turn!so!that!it!is!loose!and!tighten!the!top!
cold!shoe!adapter!wheel!while!positioning!the!shockmount!squarely!with!the!shoe.!!

Attach!Cable!and!Connector!to!Mini!Shotgun!Mic!and!Camera.!Twist!on!the!30cm!curly!
cable!securely!to!the!mic!and!insure!the!3.5mm!connector!is!also!tightly!connected.!Insert!
the!mic!into!the!shockmount.!Connect!the!3.5mm!connector!to!the!camera’s!microphone!
input.!!

Windscreen.!The!Mini!Shotgun!can!be!inserted!into!the!shockmount!and!used!without!the!
windscreen,!as!the!mic!handles!minor!air!movement!well.!But!we!suggest!always!using!the!
windscreen.!First!mount!the!windscreen!in!the!shockmount!by!pinching!the!open!end!
slightly!and!feeding!it!through!the!bands!on!the!shock!mount!with!one!hand,!and!pull!it!half!
way!through!with!the!other!hand.!Then!insert!the!microphone!into!the!shockmount,!and!
windscreen,!pushing!it!through!while!holding!the!windscreen!and!shockmount!in!place.!!

Lockable!PAN!&!TILT.!You!can!adjust!the!TILT!of!Mini!Shotgun!on!the!Mini!Shockmount!by!
loosening!the!tilt!screw,!adjusting!the!shockmount!to!the!desired!position,!and!tightening.!
The!PAN!of!the!Mini!Shotgun!can!be!adjusted!by!loosening!the!upper!wheel!of!the!QM1!Run!
And!Gun!Cold!Shoe,!adjusting!the!shockmount!to!the!desired!position,!and!retightening.!

Microphone!and!Recording!Basics!
Shotgun!microphones!are!designed!for!directional!audio!capture!to!“pinpoint”!the!target!in!
front!of!the!mic!while!effectively!rejecting!sound!from!the!sides!and!back.!Typically!they!are!
used!in!run!and!gun!situations!when!mounting!a!body!mic!such!as!a!Lavalier!or!headworn!
mic!to!capture!the!voice!is!not!possible.!!A!shotgun!mic!when!mounted!on9camera!should!be!
used!in!close!proximity!to!the!on!screen!talent’s!voice.!On!wider!shots,!when!the!camera!is!
