Beforeusingyourphone,peeltheprotectivelmoffthedisplay.Thelm
protectsthehandsetwindowduringshipmentandisnotnecessaryforuse.

TouseCallerIDandCallWaiting,youmustbeinanareawherethoseservices
areavailableandyoumustsubscribetothoseservicesthroughyourlocal
phonecompany.WhereCallerIDisoffered,oneormoreoptionsaregenerally

IfyousubscribetoCallWaitingIDandCallerID,thesystemcanshowyouthe

1Select a Location

Thebase’slocationaffectsthehandset’srange.Ifyouhaveachoiceofseveral
locations,tryeachtoseewhichprovidesthebestperformance.
2 Install Base Holder
For desktop use:
1. Turnthebaseholdersothewirehookisfacing
thetopofthebase.
2. Insertthetabsintothebottomnotches,then
snapthelockingtabsintotheuppernotches.

1. Turnthebaseholdersothewirehookisfacing
thebottomofthebase.
2. Insertthetabsintothetopnotchesonthe
bottomofthebase,thensnapthebottomtaps
intoplace.
To remove the base holder:
Pressthetabslocatedonthelegsoftheholder
toloosen,thenlifttheholderupandawayfrom
thetelephonebase.
3Connect Phone Base
1. PlugoneendofthesuppliedmodularcordintotheTEL LINEjackand
plugtheotherendintoatelephonewalljack.
2. PlugthesuppliedACadapter’sbarrelplugintothe DC IN 9Vjackandplug
theotherendintoastandardhouseholdoutlet.Makesuretheoutletisnot
controlledbyawallswitch.
3. Routetheadapterandmodularcordsthroughtheholder’sgrooves.
nNote: If you use Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) high-speed Internet service
through your telephone lines, you must install a DSL filter between the
telephone base and the telephone wall jack to prevent noise and Caller ID
problems caused by DSL interference. Please contact your DSL service provider
for more information about DSL filters.

Mounting on a Wall
Mounting on a wall plate:
1. Connectthephoneasshownonpage 9, exceptuseashortmodularcord
(notsupplied)toplugintothewallplate.
2. Alignthebaseandtheholder’skeyholeslotswiththewallplatestudsand
slidethebasedownwardtosecureit.
Mounting directly on a wall:
Tomountthephonedirectlyonawall,youneedtwoscrews(notsupplied)with
headsthattintothekeyholeslotsonthebaseandthebracket.
1. Drilltwoholes315/16inches(100mm)apart.
2. Threadascrewintoeachhole,lettingtheheadsextendabout1/8inch
(10mm).
3. Connectthephoneasshownonpage 9.
4. Alignthebaseandtheholder’skeyholeslotswiththescrewsandslidethe
basedownwardtosecureit.

4Install and Charge Battery
Installthebatteryasshownbelow.Thebatterymayhaveenoughinitialcharge
forashortcall.Forbestperformance,chargethebatteryforatleast15-20
hoursbeforerstuse.Completelychargeanddrainthebatteryonceamonth
afterwards.Whenthebatterypowerislow,Low Batteryashesonthehandset
screen.
1. Pressdownandslidethebatterycompartmentcoveroff.
2. Inserttheplugofthebatteryasindicated(theconnectortsonlyoneway).
Makesureitispluggedsecurelyandmatchesthecolor-codedlabelinside
thebatterycompartment.
3. Placethebatteryandthewiresinsidethebatterycompartment.
4. Alignthebatterycompartmentcoveratagainstthebatterycompartment,
thenslideitupwardsuntilitclicksintoplace.
5. Chargethehandsetbyplacingitinthetelephonebase.TheCHARGE / IN
USEindicatorlightsonthebasewhencharging.
Recycle rechargeable batteries
Placing rechargeable batteries in the trash can be harmful to the
environment. Instead, recycle old rechargeable batteries at your local
RadioShack store free of charge. RadioShack participates in the RBRC©
battery recycling program, and is committed to preserving the environment

nBattery Notes:
• If the handset will not be used for a long period of time, remove the battery
to prevent possible leakage.
• Whenyourstusethephoneafterchargingorrechargingthebatterypack,
the phone might not work and you might hear error beeps. If this happens,
place the handset on the base to change the digital security code.
• Usingadampcloth,cleanthechargingcontactsonboththehandsetand
base about once a month.
• Thesuppliedbatterypackshouldlastaboutayear.Ifthebatterypack
does not hold a charge for more than two hours after an overnight charge,
replace it with a new 3.6V, 600 mAh battery pack with a connector that
fits the socket in the battery compartment. You can order a replacement
battery pack through your local RadioShack store (or online at RadioShack.
com). Install the new battery pack and charge it for about 24 hours.
• Ifthephonedoesnotwork,rechargethebatterypack.(Thebatterypower
might be too low for the display to operate.)
• Ifthebatterypackbecomesweakduringacall,thehandsetbeepsandLow
Battery ashes.Whenthishappens,youcannotmakeacallonthephone
until you recharge the battery pack.
• Ifthebatterypackiscompletelydischargedorthebaselosespowerwhile
the handset is away from it, place the handset on the base to change the
digital security code. If it was the handset that lost power, recharge the
battery pack.
wCAUTION:
• Riskofexplosionifbatteryisreplacedbyanincorrecttype.Disposeofused
batteries according to the instructions.
• Donotdisposeofthebatteryinare.Checkwithlocalwastemanagement
codes for special disposal instructions.
• Donotopenormutilatethebattery.
• Exercisecareinhandlingbatteriesinordernottocreateashortcircuitwith
conductive materials such as rings, bracelets, and keys. The battery and/or
conductor may overheat and cause burns.
• Chargethebatteryprovidedwithoridentiedforusewiththisproductonly
in accordance with the instructions and limitations specified in this manual.

Using the Belt Clip
Youcanuseabeltcliptohangthehandsetonyourbelt
forgreaterconveniencewhenusingaheadsetorwhen
expectingacall.
To attach the belt clip:
Lineupandinsertthebeltclipintotheholesoneachside
ofthehandset.Pressdownuntilitclicks.
To remove the belt clip:
Pulleithersideofthebeltcliptoreleasethetabsfrom
theholes.
Using a Headset
Youcanconnectanoptionalheadsetwitha3/32inch(2.5mm)plug.
Opentherubbercoveronthesideofthehandset.Theninsertthe
headset’splugintothejack.
Whenyounishusingtheheadset,disconnectitfromthehandset
andclosetherubbercovertoprotectthejack.
nNote: If you place the handset on the base to recharge it while
the headset is connected, be sure the handset seats properly.

IfyousubscribetoVoiceMailservicefromyourtelephonecompany,youcan
useyourcordlesstelephonetoaccessyourvoicemailbox.
TheVISUAL RINGER LEDlightonthebaseofyourphoneasheswhenever
youhavemessageswaitinginyourvoicemailbox.Youcanprogramyouraccess
numbertoamemorydiallocation.(Thevoicemailserviceproviderwillsupply
youwiththeaccessnumber.Thisnumbermaybesimplyaphonenumber.

Youmayneedtooccasionallyresettheindicatorifitremainsonafteryouhave

Temporary Tone Dialing

dialingduringacall.Thisisusefulifyouneedtosendtouchtonesignalsfor

Calling from Memory
Memory Dialing from Standby Mode:

nNotes:
• IfyoupressSELECT before TALK, you can confirm the name and the
number stored in the selected memory location.
• Toexitthememoryfunctionwithoutdialing,returnthehandsettothe
base. The handset returns to the standby mode.
• Whenusingmemorydialing,youmustpressakeywithin30secondsorthe
phone will return to the standby mode.
