Thank you for purchasing the RadioShack 2-
Pack, 14-Channel Full Power FRS Radios.
Use them to talk to your friends in the next
room, next door, and around the
neighborhood. The radios feature "auto-
squelch," which blocks you from hearing
anything on the channel unless someone is
transmitting nearby on the same channel.
The radio automatically switches to power
save mode if not used for six seconds, and
wakes up when it receives a transmission or
when any key is pressed.

Your radio uses three AAA batteries for
power. For the best performance, we
recommend RadioShack alkaline batteries.
You can also use Ni-Cd/Ni-MH rechargeable
batteries in the radio and recharge them
using an optional 6V, series regulated, 1A
DC-DC adapter, available at your local
RadioShack store (use Adaptaplug H with
tip set to positive). .

1. Remove the belt clip by pulling up the
tab and sliding the belt clip upward,
then slide the battery compartment
cover downward.
2. Set CHG ON/OFF to ON if you use
rechargeable batteries or to OFF if you
use non-rechargeable batteries.
3. Install the batteries according to the
polarity symbols (+and –) marked
inside.
4. Replace the cover and the belt clip.
When power is low, the radio beeps and
the battery icon flashes. Replace or

Connect an adapter to the CHG jack. It takes
about 7 hours for Ni-Cd and 14 hours for Ni-
MH batteries to charge. Do not overcharge
the batteries.

You can power the radio from a vehicle’s
12V power source, (such as a cigarette
lighter socket) using an optional 6V, series
regulated, 1A DC-DC adapter. Use an
AdaptaplugH with the tip set to positive.
Adapters are available at your local
RadioShack store. Connect one end of the
adapter to the CHG jack, and the other end
to the vehicle’s cigaretter lighter socket.

turn the keylock on or off. zappears. When
the keylock is on, you cannot change the
channels, key tone setting, or the talk
confirmation setting.

• If you use non-rechargeable batteries, be
sure to set CHARGE ON/OFF to OFF. Non-
rechargeable batteries can get hot and
explode if you try to recharge them.
• Dispose of old batteries promptly and
properly. Do not burn or bury them.

• The radio's range decreases as the battery
power decreases. To ensure maximum
range, keep fresh batteries in the radio.
• Replace the batteries within 30 seconds to
keep the radio’s memory settings for key
tone, talk confirmation, and last channel.

types of batteries (standard, alkaline or
rechargeable), or rechargeable batteries of

alerts the person you are talking to that you

Auto power save reduces the power your
radio uses until it receives a signal or a key
is pressed.

Your radio retains the last channel in
memory. If you reset the radio, the last
channel memory is lost and channel 1 is
automatically set.

If the radio’s display is locked up or the radio
does not work properly after you turn it on,
turn it off then turn it on again. If this does
not correct the problem, reset the radio.

Attach an optional wrist strap or pager chain
(neither supplied, available at your local
RadioShack store) to the wrist strap hole on
the back of the radio.

Your radio might cause TV or radio
interference even when it is operating
properly. To determine whether your radio is
causing the interference, turn it off. If the
interference goes away, your radio is
causing it. Eliminate the interference by:
• Moving your radio away from the
receiver.
• Calling your local RadioShack store for
help.
• Using your transceiver as described in
this manual exposes you to RF energy
well below the FCC's recommended
limits.

Keep the FRS radios dry; if they get wet,
wipe them dry immediately. Use and store
the FRS radios only in normal temperature
environments. Handle the FRS radios
carefully; do not drop them. Keep the FRS
radios away from dust and dirt, and wipe
them with a damp cloth occasionally to keep
them looking new.

they should, take them to your local
RadioShack store for assistance. Modifying
or tampering with the FRS radios’ internal

Do not open your radio to make any internal
adjustments. Your radio is set up to transmit a
regulated signal on an assigned frequency. It is
against the law to alter or adjust the settings
inside the radio to exceed those limitations.
Any adjustments made to your radio must be
made by a qualified technician using the proper
test equipment. Never open your radio's case.
Never change or replace anything in your radio
except the batteries.

This product is warranted by RadioShack against manufacturing defects in
material and workmanship under normal use for ninety (90) days from the
date of purchase from RadioShack company-owned stores and authorized

refund the purchase price. All replaced parts and products, and products

ranty service. Repaired or replaced parts and products are warranted for
the remainder of the original warranty period. You will be charged for repair

pairs other than those provided by a RadioShack Authorized Service

(e) transportation, shipping or insurance costs; or (f) costs of product re-

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other
