Restaurant Configuration Template
This walk-through will help you implement this template, designed specifically for the Rane Terminal
1010x and configured using Halogen software 7.0.
Visit ranecommercial.com to download Halogen and learn how to customize your template.
Features
•Master control from reception with paging to one or more zones
•Source selection and volume control for dining, bar, and garden
•Local auxiliary input for guests in private room
•Wireless control via smartphone/tablet with password access
•Priority for when managers turn up the TV volume to override background music
•Mute all logic relay for integration with alarm and safety systems
Layout Example
This configuration will suit small to large restaurants and environments that require background
music and acoustic control for each zone. This setup utilizes a touchscreen paging feature for the
Reception area to page customers waiting for their tables, a Private Room area with a priority input
for personal music content, and a Web remote for easy control from a smartphone or mobile device.

Terminal 1010x Connectivity
Line Plus – Stereo Summed Mono
To keep signal consistency throughout the zones and
avoid certain parts being heard only from one side of
the installation (i.e. instrument solos or panoramic
stereo effects), use a Monaural Zoning System so
that all customers will have the same audible
experience.
To achieve this, connect the RCA Stereo Outputs to
one single Phoenix Input using Line Plus. Line Plus is
a Rane proprietary feature that sum both signals (Left
and Right) and provides a mono feed with all audio
content available to all mono outputs.

Halogen Software
After connecting all items from the Hardware List, use the Halogen software to apply your template
to the DSP. Download the Halogen software from ranecommercial.com/hal_software.php.
Install Halogen on your computer; then double click the downloaded .hal template file to open it with
the software.
Hardware Workspace
Use the Hardware Workspace to check your Hardware List and rename them accordingly.

4
Processing Workspace
Use the Processing Workspace to navigate through the configuration. Follow these steps to
customize your configuration:
Note: Before beginning, keep your power amplifiers turned OFF.
1. Turn on Terminal 1010x by connecting the IEC power cable from the power input to a power
outlet. Use standard Ethernet cables to connect the Ethernet Port on the rear panel of Terminal
1010x. Connect a router to the Computer Ethernet Port on the rear of Terminal 1010x and
connect a computer with Halogen to the router.
2. Open Halogen.
3. Once the Ethernet Comm LED is lit on the front panel, press Apply on the upper left corner of
Halogen and select “Rename this 1010x” to transfer the configuration to the Rane DSP. Once
connected, you can rename Terminal 1010x with the name of the venue.
Note: By default, every time a configuration is applied to the Rane DSP, all the outputs are
initially muted for speaker protection. Halogen allows you to check the signals before unmuting
the outputs.

4. Check your audio sources by playing back files and monitoring the meters inside each green
input block. Check the microphones in the same way.
Note: Condenser microphones will need +48V phantom power and less gain than dynamic
microphones.
5. Use the Master Remote DR6 to assign a source for each zone and check the Output meters.
After checking all signals, unmute all zones by pressing Unmute on the upper right menu.
6. Save the customization by pressing Save Baseline on the upper right menu (by default, Rane
DSP will recall the Baseline if power is lost).
7. Press Save As and add the name of your venue and date, i.e.
“1010X_Restaurant_FrenchCuisine_July_2018”.
Note: Turn the power amplifier ON and slowly adjust the volume to set levels for each zone.
8. Press Disconnect inside Halogen. Terminal 1010x will always remember the last configuration
applied. Now your system is ready to be used.
Web Remote Control
To remotely access and adjust the same parameters available for the Master Remote DR6, you can
connect Terminal 1010x to a local network and use a Web browser to control it. Connect the
Computer Ethernet Port on the rear of Terminal 1010x to a router (preferably wireless).
Once the Ethernet Link LED is lit, Terminal 1010x will display an IP address on the front display.
Type in the IP address into a Web browser from a smartphone or portable device connected to the
same network.
Tip: Bookmark the URL to remember it for quick access.
Security Access
By default, the template comes with two different levels of security:
Username: admin
Password: 1234
This gives you full access, control of all zones, sources, levels, EQ, paging, and muting.
Username: user
Password: 0000
This gives you access to all zones, sources, selections, and level adjustments.
