system
CorrectinstallationisrequiredtoensurethatEMC
performanceisnotcompromised.
Note:InareasofextremeEMCinterference,
someslightinterferencemaybenoticedonthe
product.Wherethisoccurstheproductandthe
sourceoftheinterferenceshouldbeseparatedby
agreaterdistance.
ForoptimumEMCperformancewerecommend
thatwhereverpossible:
•Raymarineequipmentandcablesconnectedto
itare:
–Atleast1m(3ft)fromanyequipment
transmittingorcablescarryingradiosignalse.g.
VHFradios,cablesandantennas.Inthecase
ofSSBradios,thedistanceshouldbeincreased
to7ft(2m).
–Morethan2m(7ft)fromthepathofaradar
beam.Aradarbeamcannormallybeassumed
tospread20degreesaboveandbelowthe
radiatingelement.
•Theproductissuppliedfromaseparatebattery
fromthatusedforenginestart.Thisisimportantto
preventerraticbehavioranddatalosswhichcan
occuriftheenginestartdoesnothaveaseparate
battery.
•Raymarinespeciedcablesareused.
•Cablesarenotcutorextended,unlessdoingsois
detailedintheinstallationmanual.
Note:Whereconstraintsontheinstallation
preventanyoftheaboverecommendations,
alwaysensurethemaximumpossibleseparation
betweendifferentitemsofelectricalequipment,to

throughouttheinstallation
Suppressionferrites
•Raymarinecablesmaybepre-ttedorsupplied
withsuppressionferrites.Theseareimportantfor
correctEMCperformance.Ifferritesaresupplied
separatelytothecables(i.e.notpre-tted),you
musttthesuppliedferrites,usingthesupplied
instructions.
•Ifaferritehastoberemovedforanypurpose(e.g.
installationormaintenance),itmustbereplacedin
theoriginalpositionbeforetheproductisused.
Importantinformation

•Useonlyferritesofthecorrecttype,suppliedby
Raymarineoritsauthorizeddealers.
•Whereaninstallationrequiresmultipleferritesto
beaddedtoacable,additionalcableclipsshould
beusedtopreventstressontheconnectorsdue
totheextraweightofthecable.
Connections to other equipment
Requirement for ferrites on non-Raymarine cables
If your Raymarine equipment is to be connected
to other equipment using a cable not supplied by
Raymarine, a suppression ferrite MUST always be
attached to the cable near the Raymarine unit.
Declaration of conformity
Raymarine UK Ltd. declares that this product is
compliant with the essential requirements of R&TTE
directive 1999/5/EC.
The original Declaration of Conformity certificate
may be viewed on the relevant product page.
Product disposal
Dispose of this product in accordance with the
WEEE Directive.
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
(WEEE) Directive requires the recycling of waste
electrical and electronic equipment.
Warranty registration
It is important that you register your product to
receive full warranty benefits. Your unit package
includes a bar code label indicating the serial number
of the unit. You will need this serial number when
registering your product online. You should retain
the label for future reference.
IMO and SOLAS
The equipment described within this document
is intended for use on leisure marine boats and
workboats NOT covered by International Maritime
Organization (IMO) and Safety of Life at Sea
(SOLAS) Carriage Regulations.

Important: Before proceeding, ensure that you
have read and understood the warnings and
cautions provided in the Chapter 1 Important
information section of this document.

3.5Antennalocationrequirements
Theantennacanbeusedtoimprovethereception
ofyourMFD’sbuilt-inGNSS(GPS/GLONASS)
receiver.DoNOTconnectanyotherantennatothe
MFD’sGA150connector.
Theantennacanbemountedeitheronaat
horizontalsurfaceoronasuitablepole.
•Ifyouintendtosurfacemounttheantenna,ensure
youhaveaccesstotheundersideofthemounting
surface.
•Ifyouintendtopole-mounttheantenna,thepole
needstohavea1inch14TPIthread.
Important:Theantennamustbemountedina
locationthatprovidesagooddirectlineofsiteto
theentiresky,aroundthehorizon.
Ensurethattheselectedmountinglocationis:
•Openandclearofanyobstructions(suchas
masts,searchlights,orotherstructures)thatcould
blockline-of-sighttothesky.
•Aslowaspossible,tokeeptheantennaasstable
aspossible.Themorestabletheantenna,the
moreeffectivelyitwilltracksatellitesandprovide
stabledata.
•Asfaraspossible(atleast1m(3ft)fromother
antennaeandelectronicequipment.
DoNOTmounttheantenna:
•Inanyareawhereitcouldbesteppedonortripped
over.
•Upamast.Thiswillcausetheantennatoswing
andgivesignicanterrorsinpositiondata.
•Inthedirectpathofaradarbeam.
AntennaMounting&EMEExposure
Foroptimalradioperformanceandminimalhuman
exposuretoradiofrequencyelectromagneticenergy,
makesuretheantennais:
•connectedtotheradiobeforetransmitting
•properlymounted
•locatedwhereitwillbeawayfrompeople
•locatedatleast1.5metres(5feet)fromtheradio’s
mainunit

•Ensurethatanynon-Raymarinecablesareofthe
correctqualityandgauge.Forexample,longer
powercablerunsmayrequirelargerwiregauges
tominimizevoltagedropalongtherun.
Routingcables
Cablesmustberoutedcorrectly,tomaximize
performanceandprolongcablelife.
•DoNOTbendcablesexcessively.Wherever
possible,ensureaminimumbenddiameterof200
mm(8in)/minimumbendradiusof100mm(4in).

outunderextremeseaconditions.
Cableshielding
Ensurethatalldatacablesareproperlyshielded
thatthecableshieldingisintact(e.g.hasn’tbeen
scrapedoffbybeingsqueezedthroughatightarea).
Suppressionferrites
•Raymarinecablesmaybepre-ttedorsupplied
withsuppressionferrites.Theseareimportantfor
correctEMCperformance.Ifferritesaresupplied
separatelytothecables(i.e.notpre-tted),you
musttthesuppliedferrites,usingthesupplied
instructions.
•Ifaferritehastoberemovedforanypurpose(e.g.
installationormaintenance),itmustbereplacedin
theoriginalpositionbeforetheproductisused.
•Useonlyferritesofthecorrecttype,suppliedby
Raymarineoritsauthorizeddealers.
•Whereaninstallationrequiresmultipleferritesto

appropriate.
3.Ensuringthatcableroutingandconnection
requirementsasdetailedintheinstallation
instructionsfortheproductthattheantennawill
beconnectedtoarefollowed.
5.2Surfacemounting
Whensurfacemountingtheantenna,youcanroute
thecableeithercentrally(OptionA)orfromtheside
oftheantenna(OptionB).
1.Usethetemplatesuppliedtomarkthetwo6mm
(0.25in)mountingholes.
•OPTIONA:Ifthecableisgoingtopassthrough
themountingsurfacedrilla19mm(0.75in)
centerhole.
•OPTIONB:Ifthecableistoberoutedfromthe
sideoftheantenna(i.e.abovethemounting
surface),removethetwoplastictabs(1)
obstructingthecablechannel.Ifyoudonot
removethesetabsbeforeusingthecable
channel,youcoulddamagethecable.

ofsuitablelengthwitha1inch14TPIthread.

stablepoint.
2.Screwthepolemountadaptorfullyontothepole
andensureitissecureonthepole.
3.Routetheantennacableasfollows:
i.Ifyouwanttoroutetheantennacabledirectly
downfromtheantenna(optionA),feedit
throughthecenterofthepolemountadaptor
andthendownthroughthepole.
ii.Ifyouwanttoroutetheantennacableoutof
thesideoftheantenna(optionB),removethe
twoplastictabsfromthecablechannel,then
feedthecablealongthechannel.
4.Ensuringyoudonottrapthecable,placethe
antennaonthepolemountadaptorsothescrew
holesalign,thensecuretheantennawiththe
screwsprovided.

6.1Operationinstructions
Fordetailedoperationinstructionsforyourproduct,
refertothedocumentationthataccompaniesyour
display.
6.2Troubleshooting
Thetroubleshootinginformationprovidespossible
causesandcorrectiveactionrequiredforcommon
problemsassociatedwithmarineelectronics
installations.
AllRaymarineproductsare,priortopackingand
shipping,subjectedtocomprehensivetestand
qualityassuranceprograms.However,ifyou
experienceproblemswiththeoperationofyour
productthissectionwillhelpyoutodiagnose
andcorrectproblemsinordertorestorenormal
operation.
Ifafterreferringtothissectionyouarestillhaving
problemswithyourunit,pleasecontactRaymarine
TechnicalSupportforfurtheradvice.

Note:AGPSStatusscreenisavailablewithinthedisplay.Thisprovidessatellitesignalstrengthandotherrelevant
information.

7.1Routinechecks
Thefollowingperiodicchecksshouldbemade:
•Examinecablesforsignsofdamage,suchas
chang,cutsornicks.
•Checkthatthecableconnectorsarermly
attachedandthattheirlockingmechanismsare
properlyengaged.
Note:Cablechecksshouldbecarriedoutwiththe
powersupplyswitchedoff.
7.2Unitcleaninginstructions
Theunitdoesnotrequireregularcleaning.However,
ifyounditnecessarytocleantheunit,pleasefollow
thestepsbelow:
1.Ensurepowerisswitchedoff.
2.Wipeunitcleanwithadampcloth.
3.Ifnecessary,useamilddetergentsolutionto
removegreasemarks.
