Hydraulic expander HY-EX(-6)
Thank you for purchasing the HY-EX(-6) hydraulic expander.
The new hydraulic expander with 6 expander heads (HY-EX-6 only) for tube
diameters of 3/8”, 1/2”, 5/8”, 3/4”, 7/8” and 1 1/8”.
With hydraulic pressure this light weight expander allows a perfect expansion
of copper- and aluminium pipes using a few pump movements.
The kit contains a heavy duty deburring tool and it is packed in a practical
hard plastic case.
This device is characterized by following features:
Single hand operation The hydraulic mechanism and the thumb
release allows for single hand operation.
The laser-engraved expander heads are easy
to identify and screwed on quickly.
Space-saving Thanks to the unique compact pistol-shape it is
possible to work in hard to access places.
120° angle Requires less pumping power, ensures ergonomic
handling and optimal tool management.
Exchangeable heads Fits on all HVAC/R standard imperial size tubes.
Expander heads for metric size tubes are also

Safety First!
It is important to read this entire manual and be familiar with
its contents before using the tool. It gives important instructions for
proper operation, maintenance and disposal of the device.
Operation
REFCO-products are specially designed and manufactured for qualified
personnel in the HVAC/R field. Due to the high pressures, chemical and
physical gases used in refrigeration systems, REFCO is not responsible or
liable for any accidents, injuries and death. REFCO explicitly points out, only
to sell the products to qualified technicians.
Notice
When working on refrigeration systems proper protective equipment such as
gloves, safety glasses and protective footwear must be worn.

Application
1. Cut the pipe to the correct length and deburr it inside and out.
2. Choose the correct expander head size and screw it onto the HY-EX.
3. Push the pipe all the way onto the un-expanded expander head until it
bottoms out.
Notice
Do not push with violence and twisting. The expander head is free to
slightly rotate in the pipe.
On the 3/8” (8 mm) please heat the copper pipe to be expanded or it will
very likely split depending on the age, quality and wall thickness of the
small diameter tubing.
4. Pull the pump handle until the correct tube diameter is reached. Normally
16 - 22 pumps depending on the size of the expander head used.
5. Press the thumb release button to loosen and release the expander and
remove from the expanded pipe.
6. Use the saved power for the next step.

Maintenance
For smooth operation, we recommend to remove the expander head and
regularly re-grease the thrust cone after expanding 20 tubes. (Multi-purpose
grease).
It is very important to keep the expander heads and the thrust cone free of
dirt and debris. If debris enter the back side of the expander heads or on the
thrust cone, you risk the tool sticking in the expanded position.
Please keep the thrust cone and expander heads clean to ensure proper
operation.
Filling up hydraulic oil (only if necessary)
It is possible to refill hydraulic oil in the expander HY-EX after 10’000 or more
usages.
Notice
The addition of hydraulic oil should be carried out at a suitable location, as it
is possible that oil might be spilled during re-filling and bleeding process.
Procedure:
1. Secure the HY-EX head down / handle up in a bench vice.
2. Unscrew the main handle counter-clockwise. Use a strap wrench to avoid
marring tool finish.
3. Pull out the plug from the oil reservoir.
4. Fill up the hydraulic oil until the reservoir is full (about 15 ml if it is empty).
For an ideal performance, we suggest using ISO-HV-15 hydraulic oil.
5. Fully pump up the HY-EX several times with open reservoir and push the
release button (yellow), so trapped air can escape from the hydraulic oil.
6. If air escapes, the liquid level may decrease. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until the
liquid level does not decrease anymore.
7. Close the reservoir with the plug.
8. Screw on the handle.

9. Clean the device.
Environment

disposal regulations of its country.
Oil and other components have to be disposed thus the environmental

Vielen Dank für den Erwerb des HY-EX(-6), hydraulischer Expander.
Der neue hydraulische Expander mit 6 Aufweitköpfen (nur HY-EX-6), ist
geeignet für Zollrohre von 3/8“, 1/2“, 5/8“, 3/4“, 7/8“ und 1 1/8“ Durchmes-
ser.
Mit hydraulischem Druck ermöglicht dieses Leichtgewicht-Expander-
Werkzeug durch wenige Pumpbewegungen, eine perfekte Aufweitung von
Kupfer- und Aluminium-Rohren.
Dieses Set enthält einen robusten Entgrater und wird im praktischen Kunst-
stoffkoffer geliefert.
Das Gerät zeichnet sich durch folgende Eigenschaften aus:
Einhand-Bedienung Der hydraulische Mechanismus sowie die Schnell-
lösevorrichtung ermöglichen eine einhändige
Bedienung. Die laser-gravierten Köpfe können
einfach aufgeschraubt werden.
Raumsparend Dank der kompakten Pistolenform ist auch das
Arbeiten an schwer zugänglichen Stellen möglich.

Verwendung / Einsatz
REFCO- Produkte werden speziell für Fachkräfte in der Kälte- Klimatechnik
entwickelt und hergestellt. Aufgrund der hohen Drücke sowie der chemischen
und physikalischen Gase, lehnt REFCO jede Verantwortung und Haftung bei
Unfällen, Verletzungen und Tod ab. REFCO weist ausdrücklich darauf hin, die
Produkte ausschliesslich an professionell ausgebildete Fachleute zu
verkaufen.
Beachte
Bei Arbeiten an Kälteanlagen sind geeignete Schutzmittel wie Handschuhe,
Schutzbrille, Schutzschuhe zu tragen.

Gebrauch
1. Das Rohr zum Aufweiten auf Länge schneiden und innen sauber entgraten.
2. Aufweitkopf in der richtigen Grösse wählen und auf HY-EX aufschrauben.
3. Das Rohr bis auf Anschlag über den Aufweitkopf schieben.
Beachte
Nicht mit Gewalt und Verschieben einschieben. Der Aufweitkopf soll sich im
Rohr frei drehen können.
Bei 3/8“ (8 mm) Rohren muss das Kupfer unbedingt vor dem Aufweiten
weichgeglüht werden. Je nach Alter, Qualität und Wandstärke ist es sonst
möglich, dass das Kupfer sich spaltet.
4. Pumpengriff betätigen bis der richtige Rohrdurchmesser erreicht ist.
Normalerweise 16 - 22 Pumpbewegungen je nach Grösse der verwendeten
Aufweitköpfe.
5. Auslösehebel (gelb) betätigen um das Werkzeug wieder zu entspannen und
vom fertig aufgeweitetem Rohr zu entfernen.
6. Nutzen sie die eingesparte Energie für den nächsten Arbeitsgang.

Unterhalt und Pflege
Für einen reibungslosen Betrieb empfehlen wir nach 20 aufgeweiteten Rohren
den Aufweitkopf zu entfernen und den Konus neu einzufetten. (Mehrzweckfett
NLGI1 oder NLGI2).
Es ist sehr wichtig die Aufweitköpfe und den Konus frei von Schmutz und
Fremdkörpern zu halten. Wenn Fremdkörper in die Rückseite von Aufweit-
köpfen oder in den Konus gelangen, kann es sein, dass das Werkzeug in der
aufgeweiteten Position blockiert.
Bitte halten Sie die Aufweitköpfe und den Konus sauber um eine ordnungs-
gemässe Anwendung sicherzustellen.
Auffüllen von Hydrauliköl
Nach 10‘000 oder mehr Benutzungen ist es möglich, dass dem Expander
HY-EX Hydrauliköl nachgefüllt werden muss.
Hinweis
Das Hinzufügen von Hydraulikflüssigkeit sollte an geeigneter Stelle durchge-
führt werden. Es ist möglich, dass während dem Auffüllen Öl verschüttet
werden kann.
Vorgehen:
1. HY-EX kopfüber in Schraubstock oder auf andere geeignete Weise sichern.
2. Den Griff gegen den Uhrzeigersinn abschrauben.
3. Stopfen (nur gesteckt) sorgfältig aus Ölreservoir entfernen um zu vermei-
den, dass Öl verschüttet wird.
4. Hydrauliköl auffüllen bis der Behälter voll ist (etwa 15ml wenn leer).
Hydrauliköl ISO-HV-15 wird für optimale Leistung empfohlen.
5. Mit offenem Reservoir den HY-EX mehrmals betätigen und mit Auslösehe-
bel (gelb) wieder entspannen, damit die Luft aus dem Öl entweichen kann.
6. Wenn die Luft entweicht, kann sich der Flüssigkeitsstand verringern.
Wiederholen Sie die Schritte 4 und 5, bis sich der Flüssigkeitsstand nicht
mehr verringert.

7. Mit Stopfen Reservoir wieder gut verschliessen.
8. Handgriff wieder aufschrauben.
9. Gerät von überflüssiger Hydraulikflüssigkeit reinigen.
Zum Thema Umwelt

Öl und die anderen Komponenten sind so zu entsorgen, dass Umweltbelas-
tungen ausgeschlossen werden.

Expanseur hydraulique HY-EX(-6)
Nous vous remercions d’avoir fait l’acquisition d’un expanseur hydraulique
HY-EX(-6).
Le nouvel expanseur hydraulique avec 6 têtes d’expansion (seulement HY-EX-
6) est destiné aux tubes en pouces de diamètres 3/8”, 1/2”, 5/8”, 3/4”, 7/8” et
1 1/8”.
Grâce à la pression hydraulique, cet outil expanseur léger permet en
quelques mouvements de pompage d’élargir parfaitement les tubes en cuivre
et en aluminium.
Ce kit contenant un ébavurer robuste est livré dans une mallette pratique en
matière plastique.
L’appareil se caractérise par les propriétés suivantes:

Utilisation:
1. Couper le tube pour l’élargir à la longueur et l’ébavurer proprement à
l’intérieur.
2. Sélectionner la tête d’expansion de la bonne taille et la visser sur le HY-EX.
3. Pousser le tube jusqu’en butée sur la tête d’expansion.
Remarque
Ne pas pousser le tube avec une trop grande force ni le tordre. La tête
d’expansion doit pouvoir tourner librement dans le tube.
Pour les tubes en 3/8” (8 mm) il est nécessaire de chauffer le cuivre à éva-
ser. Autrement il est probable que le cuivre craque en fonction de sa quali-
té, son ancienneté, et son épaisseur.
4. Actionner la poignée de pompage jusqu’à obtenir la diamètre de tube
souhaité. Pomper normalement 16 à 22 fois suivant la taille de la tête utili-
sée.
5. Actionner le levier de décharge (jaune) pour détendre l’outil et le retirer du
tube élargi.
6. Utiliser l’énergie économisée pour l’étape de travail suivante.

Entretien et maintenance
Pour un fonctionnement sans problème, nous recommandons de retirer la
tête d’expansion après l’élargissement de 20 tubes et de regraisser le cône.
(Graisse multifonctions NLGI1 ou NLGI2).
Il est très important que les têtes d’expansion et le cône soient exempts de
salissures et de corps étrangers. Si des corps étrangers se glissent à l’arrière
des têtes d’expansion ou dans le cône, cela pourrait bloquer l’outil lorsque le
tube a été élargi.
Maintenez les têtes d’expansion et le cône dans un état propre pour garantir
une utilisation conforme.
Ajouter de l’huile hydraulique
Après 10‘000 utilisations ou plus, il se peut que vous deviez ajouter de l’huile
hydraulique dans l’expanseur HY-EX.
Remarque
L’ajout de liquide hydraulique doit s’effectuer à l’endroit approprié. De l’huile
peut être renversée pendant le remplissage.
Procedure:
1. Fixer le HY-EX, tête en bas, dans un étau ou d’une autre manière appro-
priée.
2. Dévisser la poignée dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre.
3. Retirer avec précaution le bouchon (qui est simplement enfiché) du
réservoir d’huile pour éviter de renverser de l’huile.
4. Ajouter de l’huile hydraulique jusqu’à ce que le réservoir soit plein (environ
15 ml lorsqu’il est vide). Il est recommandé d’utiliser de l’huile hydraulique
ISO-HV-15 pour une performance optimale.
5. Actionner plusieurs fois le HY-EX avec le réservoir ouvert et le détendre à
l’aide du levier de décharge (jaune) pour éliminer l’air présent dans l’huile.
6. Lorsque l’air s’évacue, le niveau d’huile peut baisser. Répéter les étapes 4
et 5 jusqu’à ce que le niveau d’huile ne baisse plus.

7. Bien refermer le réservoir avec le bouchon.
8. Revisser la poignée.
9. Nettoyer l’appareil des résidus de liquide hydraulique.

Espansore idraulico HY-EX(-6)
Grazie per aver acquistato l’espansore idraulico HY-EX(-6).
Questo nuovo espansore idraulico, dotato di 6 testine di diverse dimensioni
(solo HY-EX-6), è utilizzabile su tubi a pollici del diametro di 3/8”, 1/2”, 5/8”,
3/4”, 7/8” e 1 1/8”.
Sfruttando la pressione idraulica, con questo leggero strumento espansore
bastano pochi movimenti di pompaggio per allargare alla perfezione tubi in
rame e in alluminio.
Il set comprende un robusto sbavatubo e viene fornito in una pratica valigetta
in plastica.
Lo strumento si distingue per la caratteristiche seguenti :
Si usa con una sola Grazie al meccanismo idraulico e al dispositivo di
mano sblocco rapido, è possibile usare lo strumento
tenendolo con una sola mano. Le testine con
marcatura incisa a laser sono facili da avvitare.

Avvertenza importante per la sicurezza
Prima di iniziare a lavorare con l’apparecchio, leggere attenta-
mente le istruzioni per l’uso. Esse contengono avvertenze importanti
per il corretto funzionamento, per la manutenzione e lo smaltimento
dell’apparecchio.
Utilizzo dell’apparecchio
I prodotti REFCO sono progettati e realizzati specificamente per il personale
addetto alla tecnica della refrigerazione e della climatizzazione. Considerate
le alte pressioni e i gas chimici e fisici in gioco, REFCO declina ogni responsa-
bilità commerciale e legale in caso di incidenti, lesioni e morte. REFCO fa
espressa indicazione di vendere i prodotti esclusivamente a personale
professionalmente qualificato.
Attenzione
In caso di lavori su impianti di refrigerazione, è necessario indossare disposi-
tivi di protezione adeguati, quali guanti, occhiali di protezione, scarpe antin-
fortunistiche.

Uso:
1. Tagliare in lunghezza il tubo da espandere e sbavarlo all’interno fino a
renderlo pulito.
2. Scegliere la testina della giusta dimensione e avviatarla sul dispotivo
HY-EX.
3. Spingere il tubo sulla testina dell’espansore fino alla battuta.
Attenzione
Non forzare né la spinta né la torsione. La testina dell’espansore deve
poter girare liberamente all’interno del tubo.
Sulla 3/8” (8mm), si prega di scaldare il tubo di rame da espandere o sarà
molto probabile la spaccatura a seconda dell’età, della qualità e dello spes-
sore della parete del piccolo diametro del tubo.
4. Azionare la maniglia della pompa fino al raggiungimento del diametro
desiderato del tubo. Normalmente 16 –22 pompate a seconda delle di-
mensioni delle testine dell’espansore utilizzate.
5. Azionare la leva di sblocco (gialla) per rilasciare lo strumento e toglierlo dal
tubo così allargato.
6. L’energia che il dispositivo ha consentito di risparmiare potrà essere
sfruttata per la fase di lavoro successiva.
