2. Instructions
Since the electrode directly measures the conductivity of the soluble salt ions in the soil, the
soil volumetric water content needs to be higher than about 20%, and the soluble ions in the soil
can correctly reflect the conductivity of the soil. In the long-term observation, the measured values
after irrigation or rainfall are closer to the true level. If the quick test is performed, the soil to be
tested can be watered first, and the water is fully infiltrated and measured.
If it is measured on a hard surface, it should be drilled first (the aperture should be smaller than the
diameter of the probe), then inserted into the soil and compacted and then measured; the sensor
