TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The Rubis Shower in Bed System comprises: a mobile shower trolley with six directional wheels, flexible showering hoses,
fresh water tank, integral waste water tank and disinfectant tank, waterproof bed sheet (width 90cm), four fasteners, as well
as a bath towel (158x220cm).

Covers in ABS PMMA.
6 x Ø100mm directional wheels, 2 with brakes.

APPLICATION
The Ruby Shower in Bed is designed to shower individuals who are confined to bed.
The shower trolley should be operated only by those qualified to do so and who have read the instruction manual.
The Ruby Shower in Bed must only be used to wash individuals.
The Ruby Shower in Bed is designed for use in conjunction with the shower sheet.
The manufacturer accepts no respons b l ty should the product be used, changed or assembled d fferently than def ned

OPERATION
The fresh water tank is filled manually.
An element is used to heat the water.
The temperature controller is used to control and maintain the set temperature.
The max temperature cannot exceed the factory setting of 41°.
A red warning light illuminates if the fresh water tank temperature is 2° higher than the set temperature.
The on/off button starts and stops the heating of the water.
A water reserve keeps the element immersed.
Water heating time depends upon the set temperature and the temperature of the water inside the tank.
Water is pumped from the tank to the handheld shower.
Flow intensity is adjusted via a valve on the handheld shower.
A flexible hose connected to the shower sheet drains the waste water into a separate waste water tank.
The tanks are set at a height compatible with regular lavatories for convenient tank drainage – they are also designed to
drain dry after use.
Both the drainage and shower pumps may be used simultaneously.
Disinfectant is added via a front access panel.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Before operating, installing or servicing the Ruby Shower in Bed, please read the instruction manual carefully, paying
particular attention to the Safety instructions section.
In the event of any queries please contact Reval directly for guidance.
Failure to comply with the safety instructions in this manual may result in injury.
This instruction manual should accompany the Ruby Shower Bed at all times for referral.
Contents of this manual are subject to change without prior notice to users.
•Do not try to lift the Ruby Shower in Bed system.
•Do not exceed the fresh water tank fill level.
•Do not heat the water while showering an individual.
•Do not touch the element.
•Do not apply pressure to the showerhead.
•When the water is running do not ring the showerhead within 60cms of the device.
•Do not use electrical appliances (hairdryer, electric razor etc) in the shower vicinity.
•Do not force controls or taps.
•Do not force the door lock handle.
•Do not use the disinfectant on the individual.
•Always perform a daily check before using the Shower in Bed system.
•Prepare the Ruby Shower in Bed system before transferring the individual to be showered.
•Always check the water temperature efore applying the handheld shower to the individual.
•Thoroughly clean the Ruby Shower in Bed system after each use.
•Thoroughly disinfect the shower sheet before each use.
•Always check that the drainage valve is closed before filling the fresh water tank.
•Always check that the waste water tank drainage valve is closed before draining the water sheet.
•When using disinfectant, wear ru er gloves and eye protection. In case of eye or skin contact, follow the
procedures on the disinfectant container.
•Equipment, hoses, pipes, connections and securing devices should be checked weekly to ensure safe working
order.
•Components should be kept clean and dry.
•Do not leave uttons or pumps switched on when the device is not in use.
•Ensure there is water in the tank efore turning on the element to heat.
•Do not swill the Shower in Bed external casing.
PRECAUTION TO BE TAKEN DURING CROSSINGS OF DOOR :
It is advised to push the device by the one or other one of the extremities during the movements and especially during the
crossings of door.

Safety Warning!
Under no circumstances shout this appliance e filled with water with a te
mperature over
41 Deg.C! This appliance is equipped with a safety warning light and digital temperature display to alert
users to water the hot water temperature has exceeded its safe required working temperate NB 41Deg C.
However should the pump e switched on and the shower handset trigger e depressed the appliance will
discharge the hot water at the temperature it is actually at posing a risk to users and patients if used outside
the guidance of this manual and training given y a trained product specialist. For more information on
this matter please contact Reval Customer services who will e a le to arrange training or further guidance
on this matter.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
1) Fill the fresh water tank.
2) Wheel the Ruby Shower in Bed system to the individual.
3) Connect the electric power cable to an electric socket (16A min required).
4) Adjust the temperature setting and start heating the water.
5) Prepare the individual’s bed using the shower sheet.
6) Shower the individual.
7) Drain the water from the shower sheet.
8) Drain the two tanks into a lavatory.
9) Clean and disinfect the trolley and the shower sheet.
FILLING THE FRESH WATER TANK
Fill the fresh water tank with lukewarm water to the max. level indicated inside the tank.
Do not fill the tank elow the mini level indicated inside the tank.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
Connect the electric power cable to a 230V electric socket (16A min required), which must be 1m minimum from the
individual’s bed.
WARNING: If the red warning light illuminates it is indicating that the water inside the tank is too warm.
ADJUSTING THE WATER TEMPERATURE
The larger display located at the top of the display shows the real temperature inside
the fresh water tank.
The smaller display located at the bottom of the display shows the set temperature.
To adjust the water temperature, press on the up button during 1 or 2s then adjust
the set temperature thanks to the up & down buttons.
For security reasons the max. temperature cannot exceed 41° (as per the factory settings). This temperature and the
controller programming is password protected. To modify these settings please contact Reval technical service.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
HEATING OF WATER
To start heating the water, turn on the button located near the temperature
controller.
The temperature of the water will rise gradually until the set temperature is reached
without exceeding it.
Heating time is 12min to reach 37° from 23° cold water.
Heating time is 6 min to reach 37° from 32° lukewarm water.
FITTING THE SHOWER SHEET
Put the shower sheet over the mattress underneath the individual.
Fix the shower sheet to the bed using the 4 spring clamps supplied.
SHOWERING
ATTENTION: Turn off the water heater when the required temperature is reached and before showering the individual.
ATTENTION: Check the water temperature before applying the showerhead to the individual.
Take the handheld shower.
Check that the flow intensity valve is opened.
Switch on the the shower pump by turning the button.
Adjust the shower flow intensity using the control panel.
Shower time is 2 minutes at non-stop max flow.
NOTE: Switch off the pump when the handheld shower is not being used.
DRAINING MATTRESS
Switch on the drainage pump by turning the button.
Waste water is pumped from the shower sheet to the waste water tank.
NOTE: Before switching off the pump, check the flexible hose does not contain
residual water.
DRAINING TANKS
Both tanks must be totally drained to ensure that no water stagnates inside.
Each tank has a flexible hose with valve to drain the water directly into a lavatory.
NOTE: Close the valves after the tanks have completely drained.

MAINTENANCE
CLEANING
Shower sheet and tanks should be thoroughly cleaned after use.
Use liquid cleaning products such as gels and liquid soaps.
Do not use abrasive cleaning products such as scouring cream.
To clean the tanks Reval recommends using BFR 4.0 disinfectant (contact Reval).
NOTE: It is safe to spray BFR 4.0 disinfectant on the heating element.
DESCALING
For the descaling of the stainless steel tanks and the heating element, proceed as follows:
•Arm yourselves with protective gloves, mask and safety glasses.
•Remove the metallic grid from the fresh water tank.
•Spray the scaling product (Actigel réf 1438056) on the walls of the tanks and on the heating element.
•Let act the product during 2 minutes then rinse the both tanks.
•Rub the heating element thanks to a sponge to eliminate all tracks of limestone.
•Rinse abundantly the both tanks.
•Reposition the grid inside the fresh water tank.
THERMAL DISINFECTION AGAINST LEGIONELLA:
The "Ruby" is compatible with a procedure of thermal disinfection of pipes.
Contact the Reval after-sales department for information.

PERIODIC INSPECTION
1) The Ruby Shower in Bed system should be inspected as per the manufacturer – a minimum of twice yearly.
The inspection would include a visual examination of all the trolley functions - particularly the safety systems (red
warning light, circuit breaker etc).
2) A properly qualified individual, familiar with the design, use and care of the trolley, should carry out the inspection.
The scope of the inspection is set out in the Ruby Shower in Bed Manual.
3) Observations should be noted in the logbook, which should be retained by the individual responsible for the
servicing/maintenance of the trolley.
4) The date of corrective actions should also be noted in the logbook.
5) If the periodic inspection reveals any defect, wear or other damage that compromises the safety of the trolley, the
owner should immediately be alerted. In the event of immediate danger, the trolley should immediately be
removed from service and not used until repaired.
6) Defects and damages affecting the trolley’s safety, and actions taken between inspections, should be entered in
the trolley’s logbook.
7) Defects and damages should be reported to Reval for action and noted in the logbook.
