General
Pump safety blocks of type DBA… are pilot operated pressure
relief valves, which are integrated in a block and provided for
direct mounting to the SAE pressure port of the pump.
They are used for the limitation (DBA) or limitation and sole-
noid-operated unloading (DBAW, DBAE.) of the operating
pressure.
These pump safety blocks basically consist of valve block
(1) and pressure relief cartridge valve type DB 20 K (2) to
RE 25818. Optionally, a pressure switch of type HED 8 (3) to
RE 50061 can be fitted to the valve block.
The valve housing is provided with a port P for the inlet and a
port P1 for the outlet of the hydraulic fluid. The pressure relief
cartridge valve is installed in a branch of this passage and pro-
vides a connection to port T (tank line) in the open position.
Type DBA 15 .2 –2X/…
Type DBA 15 .2 D2X/…
In the basic version, the porting pattern of size 6 is covered by
cover plate (4). The pressure applied in the passage connec-
tion (P–P1) acts on main spool (5) of the pressure relief car-
tridge valve. At the same time, the pressure is applied via ori-
fice bores (6 and 7) to poppet (8). When the pressure in port
P exceeds the pressure set on spring (9), poppet (8) opens
against spring (9).
Now, the hydraulic fluid flows from channel P via orifice bores
(6 and 7) into spring chamber (10), from where it is fed internal-
ly via pilot line (11) to the tank.
Due to the balanced condition at spool (5), hydraulic fluid flows
from channel P to channel T while the set operating pressure is
maintained.
A pressure gauge connection (12) allows the operating pres-
sure to be checked.
Pump safety block type DBA…D (with pressure switch)
The use of an electrical pressure switch of type HED 8 (3) to
RE 50061 allows an electric circuit to be closed or interrupted
via pilot line (13).
In the basic version, pilot line (13) is plugged with a plug screw
(14).

Pump safety block type DBAW
In principle, the function of this block corresponds to that of
block type DBA…. Here, unloading across the main spool is,
however, accomplished through the activation of built-on direc-
tional valve (15). In this variant, cover plate (4) is not provided.
Pump safety block type DBAW.B…Z… for fixed displacement
pump (with pressure relief valve)
In principle, the function corresponds to that of type DBAW….
The pressure relief valve type ZDB 6 (16) to RE 25751 and the
operation of directional valve (15) deactivates the pilot control
of pressure relief cartridge valve type DB 20 K, and the pres-
sure set on pressure relief valve type ZDB 6 is activated. The
pressure setting on pressure relief valve type ZDB 6 is only ef-
fective, if it is lower than the setting of pressure relief cartridge
valve type DB 20 K.

In principle, the function corresponds to that of type DBAW….

Type DBAW 15 .2–2X/…
Pressure relief valve type ZDB 6 (16) to RE 25751 and the op-

pilot port X. The change in pressure, which is set on pressure

Due to pressure relief valve type Z2DB 6 (16) to RE 25751 and
operation of directional valve (15) two pressures can be gener-
ated in pilot port X. The pressure setting on pressure relief
valve type Z2DB 6 is only effective, if it is lower than the setting
on pressure relief cartridge valve type DB 20 K.
