BDHD SERIES QUICK USE GUIDE
USERNAME & PASSWORD
The factory default username is: admin
The factory default password is: bigdog1234
If the above default password does not work please try 12345 before contacting Big Dog Support.
The admin password can easily be changed and additional users added. If the admin password is lost or forgotten
please call Big Dog Support while at your DVR for instructions on how to reset and change the password.

port forwarding with the goal of allowing you to remotely access video from your Big Dog BDHD series DVR.

If you intend to use a web browser, installed applications on your computer or smartphone to view your DVR remotely
ports 80, 8000 and 8554 are required. If you will only be using installed applications on your computer and smartphone
to view your DVR remotely only ports 8000 and 8554 are required. Port 80 is required if using a web browser.
Please verify with your network administrator if the Big Dog DVR will require a static IP address and if so what will the
network information be. When speaking with your network administrator ask if there is a specific physical port on a
network appliance the Big Dog DVR will need to be connected to.

STATUS INDICATORS
POWER: the POWER indicator turns green when NVR is powered up.
READY: The indicator light is green when the device is running normally.
STATUS: The light is green when the IR remote control is enabled; The light is
red when the function of the composite keys (SHIFT) are used; The light is out
when none of the above condition is met.
ALARM: the light is red when there is an alarm occurring.
HDD: the indicator flickers red when HDD is reading/writing.
Tx/Rx: Tx/Rx indicator flickers green when network connection is functioning
normally.

in, the key is used to zoom out.

The F2 button is used to change the tab pages;
In PTZ control mode, it zooms in the image.
4/GHI/ESC:
Enter numeral “4” or letters “GHI”;
Exit and back to the previous menu.

Delete characters before cursor;
Check the checkbox and select ON/OFF switch.

CONTROL BUTTONS
Directional buttons:
In menu mode, the direction buttons are used to navigate
between different fields and items and select setting parameters.
In playback mode, the Up and Down buttons are used to speed
up and slow down record playing, and the Left and Right buttons
are used to move the recording 30s forwards or backwards.
In the image setting interface, the up and down button can adjust
the level bar of the image parameters.
In live view mode, these buttons can be used to switch channels.
Enter:
The Enter button is used to confirm selection in menu mode; or
used to check checkbox fields and ON/OFF switch.
In playback mode, it can be used to play or pause the video.
In single-frame play mode, pressing the Enter button will play
the video by a single frame.
And in auto sequence view mode, the buttons can be used to
pause or resume auto sequence.

ANDROID & IPHONE NVMS7000 APP INSTRUCTIONS
●Open the app and set the appropriate region.
●On the Live View page press the MENU button (overlapping squares icon) located at the top left of the screen.
●Tap Devices.
●You may be asked if the app can use your camera. This permission allows the application to access the
camera roll to store snapshots and videos.
●On the Devices page tap the ADD button (Folder with plus icon) located at the top right of the screen.
●Tap Manual Adding.
●On the New Device page enter the following:

●Tap the SAVE button (disk icon) located at the top right of the screen.
●Wait for the spinning circle in the middle of the screen to clear.
●You may receive a message indicating you have a weak or risky password. If you choose to change your
password it must be changed on the DVR before changing in the app.
●Camera No. should now show the number of cameras your system can handle.
●Tap Start Live View.
If you wish to have a favorite list of several cameras from one or more devices or fewer cameras from one device do the
following while in Live View on the NVMS7000 app.
●Tap the Camera List button (circle with a page icon) located at the top right of the screen.
●On the Camera List page your device(s) listed.
○The circle with a greater than symbol to the left of your device(s) allows you to see and select any of the
cameras attached to the device.
○The circle with the arrow to the right of your device(s) allows you to select all or none of the cameras
attached to the device.
●Using the two icons mentioned above choose the camera(s) from your device(s).
●Once done Start Live View at the bottom of the page will have the number of cameras you have chosen in
parenthesis.
●Tap the Favorites (folder with plus icon) located at the bottom right of the screen and enter a name to remind
you of the cameras you have chosen and press Confirm.
●On the Camera List page you will now see the name you created with a star to the left. This will allow you to quickly
choose selected camera views or entire devices.
●Tap on Start Live View to view the device(s), camera(s) or favorite you created.

WINDOWS DESKTOP INTERNET EXPLORER
Due to the elimination of Flash from most Windows, Mac and Linux web browsers you will only be able to use Windows
desktop Internet Explorer (not Edge) for web browser access to your DVR/NVR.
Open Internet Explorer, type the DVR/NVR address in the address bar and press enter. Login using the credentials listed
above.
If this is the first time you have connected, you will be asked to download and install a plugin. Make sure to close all
instances of the web browser before installing the plugin. If asked please authorize User Account Control to allow the
plug to install.
Once the plugin install has finished, open Internet Explorer, type the DVR’s address in the address bar and press enter.
After logging in, Internet Explorer may ask you to allow the plugin to access this or all websites. Say yes to allow this.

Now your web page should look like this.

Once logged in the demo cameras will not automatically stream. Before starting the video streams we will change the
number of cameras to be displayed on the screen at one time and force the page to load the full resolution video
streams.
Look for a group of four icons on the lower left of the page.
The furthest left icon allows you to change the number of cameras displayed on the screen at one
time. Left click on this icon and then select the four division icon that appears below.
The second icon from the left allows you to change all cameras from low resolution to high resolution
streams. Left click the icon and then select the icon with the circled 1 that appears below.

To start all four demo streams look for a group of nine icons located on the lower right of the page. Left clicking the
furthest left icon, the double square with the triangle in it, will start playback on the cameras.
You can double left click on a smaller camera image to enlarge it. Once enlarged, double left clicking will reduce the
camera to its previous size.
On the left of the page is a graphical display of the
camera information. If the camera icon has a green
triangle, the cameras is streaming video to your web
browser. The large dot indicates motion detected if
red and the small dots connected with lines indicate
a low resolution stream with a 2 and a high resolution
stream with a 1.
INSTALLED DESKTOP APPLICATION
You can also install the NVMS7000 desktop application. Both the Windows and Mac NVMS7000 applications as well as
instructions are available on the DVD that came with your new BDHD series DVR.

EXPORTING VIDEO CLIPS
Video Backup Using USB Flash Drives
1) To quickly backup multiple cameras and time frames use Normal Playback mode to review and make note of all
dates, times and cameras that need to be recorded.
2) You will then use the Normal Export feature. From the live camera screen left click the Menu button, mouse over
Export and left click on Normal. You should then see the following screen.
3) Analog and IP camera selection section
a) Left click the box next to Analog to deselects all analog cameras. Left click the boxes next to the camera
# (A1-A16) corresponding to the cameras you wish to record for the same time frame.
b) Left click the box next to IP to deselect IP cameras as a choice of backup.
4) Start/End time of record section
a) This section is purely informational showing the total time of recording for any selected cameras.
5) Recording Type Start and End Time section
a) Leave Record Type set to All.
b) Leave File Type set to All.
c) Change Start Time date and time to the beginning of the date and time you wish to record.
d) Change End Time date and time to the end of the date and time you wish to record.

7) The Search Result screen will be shown next.
8) You will see either a Chart (thumbnail) view (first image)) or a List view (second image) showing the motion video
files search results fitting the camera, date and time searched.
9) The total number of files shown at the bottom left of the Search result screen will vary depending on the time of
day, amount of motion during the time frame selected and number of cameras searched. There could be a few
to thousands of files in the results view.

10) Left click the check box next to All in Chart view or Camera No. in List view to select all video files.
11) Left click the Export All button located at the bottom right of the Search result screen.
12) The Export screen will be shown next.
13) If a USB stick was previously inserted you will see some type name show in the Device Name field. If you have
waited to insert the USB stick until this step, insert your USB stick and left click the Refresh button. You should
now see a name listed in the Device Name field.
14) Left click the New Folder button located at the bottom of the export window to create a folder with some type of
familiar name for the restaurant or location you are exporting video for and then press the OK button.

15) You will then see the folder name you created in the upper second of the Export window.
16) Double left click on the folder you previously named and then left click the Export button.
17) A new, small Export window will appear showing check boxes next to Video and Log and Player. Only the Video
and Log needs to be checked. Left click the OK button to begin the process of exporting videos to your USB
stick. Due to its size the player is no longer exported during this process. Information about the video player
can be found on the disk shipped with your system or in the next section of this help guide.

1. Once you have saved, backed up or exported video from your BDHD DVR to a USB memory stick you can view
these videos either on the BDHD DVR using Playback > External File or take to a Windows computer.
2. Depending on the options chosen when creating your videos your USB memory stick there may be many
different files listed:
a) Player.exe or player.zip. Player.zip contains a readme.txt file stating the player is not included. Player.exe is
an older program from BDHD series DVR’s with firmware versions much older than V3.1.17_170224 or
V3.4.80_170223. Please delete player.exe and follow the instructions on step 3
b) ch##_##############.txt is a text file created per video file that provides authentication information needed
for verification of video. The audit file shows the user, date, time and serial number of the DVR the file was
created. It also will show the start date and time of the beginning and end of the file and what caused the
file to be created.
c) ch##_##############.mp4 is the video file created for each motion event during the requested video
export period. File size and period of time recorded will vary depending on the amount and length of motion
events.
3. BDHD series firmware versions V3.1.17_170224 or V3.4.80_170223 or newer no longer include the player, even if
chosen, when downloading video. To player videos you have two choices.
a) Please open the DVD that came with your BDHD. In the VSPlayer folder you will find VSPlayer VX.X.X.exe
for Windows (X’s indicate a version number) or VSPlayer_Mac for Mac OS. Install the version you require.
b) You can also download ‘BDHD series motion video clip playback and merge.zip’ and install VSPlayer
VX.X.X.exe for Windows (X’s indicate a version number) or install VSPlayer_Mac for Mac OS.
4. With either player.exe or VSplayer.exe application (see images below) you will be able to playback and merge
individual .mp4 video files created on your BDHD series DVR.

VSPlayer.exe may, INCORRECTLY, be listed by your anti-virus as a malicious file. IT IS NOT. Please make an exception
in your anti-virus program to use this program.
1. With VSPlayer, mp4 video files can be played back one at a time or in a playlist (multiple file) format. To select
individual files for playback click the + icon located in the Playlist section. A window labeled Open will appear.
This window will allow you to find the folder and file(s) you wish to add. To make finding and selecting files
easier make sure you are in the Details view.
2. Select the individual mp4 file and click open.
3. If you wish to playback multiple files, first left click on the column heading Type. A small triangle should appear
above and to the right of Type. Continue left clicking on Type until a small arrow or triangle pointed up appears
just to the right of Type. All of your mp4 files are in sequential time order from lowest to highest.
4. To select multiple .mp4 files for playback/playlist left click and drag a box (left image) over the files you desire or
left click on the first file in the list and then shift left click on the last file (right image).

5. The files will be highlighted and multiple file names will appear in quotation marks in the File name box. Click the
Open button.
6. The playlist will now show all of the files you selected in time order earliest to latest.
7. To playback all files look for the double arrow icon or circular arrows icon located at the top of the Playist and
choose ‘Playlist Order’ or ‘Order’ depending on the version of VSPlayer you have. All files will play in order. If
you wish for continuous playback of selected files click the same icon and choose ‘Loop Playlist or ‘Repeat All’.
