your expectations.
To make sure you get the most out of your sistem, please read this manual before you
attemp any connections.
General safety instructions:
• Switch off the amplifier and all sources before making connections to your sound sys-
tem. When you switch on the system or change sources, set the volume control to
minimum and turn up the level gradually.
• Do not play the system with extreme settings of volume and tone controls — it may
damage the amplifier and loudspeakers.
• Do not connect loudspeaker terminals to the mains supply.
• Ensure that your speakers are correctly wired and are in phase.
• Do not exposure your speakers to excessive cold, heat or sunlight.
• Although the product is completely protected from the moisture and can be placed

• No naked flame sources (i.e. candels) must be placed on the product.
• Do not place heavy objects on top of loudspeaker cabinets.
• Do not lift or remove the speakers by holding the sphere — hold them by both hands
at the cabinets sides.
1. Supply
The supply of The MasterHorn speakers comprises:
• 2 speakers
• 1 active subwoofer
• This manual, incl. Warranty
2. Unpacking
Take care when removing speakers from their packaging. They are heavy and take
care to avoid accidental damage before instaling.
Lift them by holding the sides of the cabinets — do not lift them by holding the
sphere.
The easiest way of unpacking the speaker is to put one hand under the back of the
horn, somewhere in the middle (never under the sphere), and to pull the other hand
in the mouth of the horn. Embracing the speaker this way, you can slowly lift it from
the packaking and put it into selfstanding position.
3. About MasterHorn loudspeakers and a subwoofer
3.1. Features
RingAudio products are High-End products that will satisfy the ear of any audiophile.
Continuing on the achievement of its antecedent models, a standard type of the small
horn, model MH Jazz introduced new moments in horn-building research and repre-
sented a significant shift from the standard in its sound quality as well as in its
design. Musical presentation is pure and un-adulterated, it is more organic and natu-
ral recreation of the acoustic event. Not only accurancy of the sound performance is
achieved, but the emotions and the soul of the music itself are presented.
Much of the attention is given to the visual appearance of the system, which is very
important to us, too. Besides many hours of enjoyment in the music, these speakers
will also give a special emphasis to the room in which will be placed. When not play-
ing, they almost take the role of a modern sculpture. Curved lines gently flow like the
music coming out from the horn, evoking an instrument playing. No edges, no
straight lines, only rounded form. Fusion of form and function - the basic idea of
Bauhaus - is achieved.
• low distortion
• fast transient response
• higher sound pressure level
• full-range phase coherent wave
• no crossover
• no correction circuit
3.2. Description
MasterHorn speaker is a full range back loaded horn speaker. It has one drive unit
placed into a sphere at the top of a cabinet. Channel of the horn is situated in the
cabinet and it spreads exponentialy towards the mouth at the front of the speaker.

RingAudio OgrizoviÊeva 2•10000 Zagreb•Croatia•Tel:+385 91 3646 601•e-mail: [email protected]•web: www.ring-audio.com
Constituent part of the body of the horn are wooden, gold-plated (24 carat gold) res-
onator leaf and resonator cube, placed in the channel to control clangs and echoes.
There is no crossover. A custom made copper cable is used in the internal wiring.
Our sistem fulfills active bass horn as inseparable part of the whole completely
authentic and peculiar only to Ring Audio. By its construction subwoofer is clasical
conical horn. Subwoofer has an internal amplifier and a digital crossover as integral
parts of it.
Thanks to its simple design and dimensions MasterHorn speaker can easily fit into
any room. Finish could be made of wood by choice of a customer (layered), lac-
quered layered MDF in different colours or veneered by choice of customer. Sphere
at the top of cabinet is made in composite coloured in black or white.
3.3. Drive unit
Drive unit used in loudspeakers is Fostex Fe 108E Sigma 4". It is specific for its
exceptionally light diaphragm (2,2 gr) made of pressed banana plant's fiber. During
implementation into horn, driver is treated with specially prepared acetone lacquer of
negligible mass in order to be "sound-tight". Very light diaphragm, strong magnets
and flawless UDR construction enable violent, completely flat vibration of the
diaphragm without additional micro excursions that results in extremely high resolu-
tion. The sphere in which it is implemented serves as a supprabaffle to correct baffle
step loss to a minimum.
Driver used in subwoofer is Visaton W250S - 25 cm (10") HiFi woofer with strong
drive, extended rear pole plate and 38 mm voice-coil for high power handling. Elastic
rubber surround, coated paper cone and magnet vent.
3.4. Subwoofer internal amplifier
Internal amplifier used in subwoofer is Hypex DS 2.0. It is class D amplifier module
for active subwoofer use. Accurate rendition of the low bass range is a substantial
component of a high-quality music reproduction. For an impressive bass rendition
large loudspeakers are inevitable. The crossover frequency is adjustable steplessly
between 20 Hz and 120 Hz. Due to this large range of control a problem-free connec-
tion is possible to different subwoofer and other loudspeaker systems. Additionally
this active system has a low bass rise. An active 4th order subsonic filter with
Butterworth characteristic protects the loudspeaker against mechanical overloading,
since the ultralow portion of the fed signal would cause extreme diaphragm deflec-
tions.
4. Positioning
Due to its dimensions and features MasterHorn speaker can be placed anywhere in
the room. There are no precise distances acquired for speaker to be placed from the
wall.
Nevertheless, the best results in Hi Fi reproduction are achieved by positioning the
speakers minimum 1,5 m from the side wall and 1,5 m from the rear wall; speakers
should be distanced cca 2,6 m from each other and slightly turned toward listener.
Place the speakers so that you are at the same distance from each. The distance
between the speakers should be the same as between you and the speakers. The sub-
woofer should be placed between the speakers. MasterHorn - Jazz has very strong
polar characteristic so it creates a sound volume that corresponds with the area
around in the way that sweet spot almost doesn`t exist. This is one of its greatest
virtues. It is a result of precise mathematical calculation, a sphere in which a drive
unit is placed and the lack of a crossover with all of its electronic elements. Therefore,

acoustic phase is absolutely correct and this is crucial in the proper positioning of a
sound wave.
5. Connection of the speakers
MasterHorn speaker has high sensitivity — accordingly it should be connected to an
amplifier of low power - tube pure single-ended mode amp or Class A Mosfets ampli-
fier are recomended. As subwoofer is active preamplifier is needed. It should have 2
pre-outs: one for the amplifier and the other for the amplifier in the subwoofer.
These speakers are supplied in single wire configuration. Make sure to maintain iden-
tical polarity on the terminal of the amp and the speaker. Mixing poles will result in
disharmonic reproduction of your music. Usually, + pole is marked in red, - pole is
marked in black.
Tone-control on the amplifier of the sub is set and fixed with a scotch tape - all you
have to do is to remove the tape and connect it with your preamp with interconnect
cables. You can adjust volume if you want, but other settings must remain as they are.
6. Running in
All products of RingAudio after final control come out from our studios with few
hours of playing, but to achieve a maximum of true reproduction of sound it takes
about 100 working hours of runnung-in.
7. Care and maintenance
As a general rule, please avoid unnecessary power surges when switching on the
amps or output over-loads amounting to peaks beyond the rated power output level.
Coil and diaphragm may get damaged.
When changing cables, please make sure all units are shut off.
How to swich on/off the hi fi system: when starting a system first swich on the source
units (CD player), then pre-amplifier and at the end amplifier. For swiching off order
is reverse: first amplifier, then pre-amplifier and at the end source units.
To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose the product to water, mois-
ture or open fire.
Do not open the speakers — there are no user serviceable parts inside.
Clean and polish the cabinet with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
