1.Introduction
LiteWare HO with wire ess DMX is a stand-a one ight source. The unit can be contro ed by DMX
transmitted wire ess y and in stand-a one operation using 50 preset co ours and 20 preset fade and
snap sequences.

2. Charging the system
There are two charging methods avai ab e for LiteWare HO.
• f ight case charger system
• sing e unit charger
Both charger options are designed specifica y for LiteWare HO. P ease DO NOT use any other charging
system as this can damage the battery base unit. The charging cyc e is approximate y 8 hours.
2.1 Flight case charger system
1 Ensure that the f ight case is p ugged into a mains supp y with the supp ied mains ead.
2 P ace the LiteWare HO into the f ight case. The battery base unit starts charging. During
charging, the button LED is on constant y. The battery is fu y charged when the button LED
f ashes. LiteWare HO is now ready for use.
Upon disconnecting mains power to the f ight case, a charged battery base units continue to f ash the
button LED. This is norma . To switch this f ashing button LED off, brief y ift the battery base unit out
of the case and rep ace.
2.2 Single unit charger
P ug the supp ied charger into the base of the battery base unit. During charging, the button LED is on
constant y. The battery base unit is fu y charged when the button LED f ashes.
Note: If you eave the LiteWare HO connected to the sing e charger without the charger connected to
mains power the battery wi f atten.
2.3 Lo battery
When the battery vo tage becomes too ow, the battery base unit goes to s eep and the TOP button
LED f ashes every few seconds. You must recharge the battery base unit before you can use it again.
2.4 Battery care
The LiteWare HO up ighter contains a sea ed ead-acid battery. The battery shou d not be eft in a
discharged state for ong periods because this wi reduce its capacity. We recommend eaving
LiteWare HO on charge permanent y when not in use.
Note: If you remove the battery, p ease observe the correct po arity upon reconnection.
The fo owing points shou d he p maintain the ong ife of your LiteWare battery:
• When in use, LiteWare automatica y switches off when the battery vo tage reaches a set ower
imit. This is to avoid any deep discharge damage of the battery. It is not recommended that
LiteWare batteries be eft for any pro onged period in this state.
• LiteWare shou d a ways be fu y re-charged as soon as possib e. Once fu y charged LiteWare
can be stored.
• If LiteWare is to be unused for ong periods, we recommend LiteWare is charged every two
months to keep the batteries topped up.
• If LiteWare is stored in hotter environments (above 20 degrees), we recommend a month y
storage charge.
• From market data, the estimated number of uses in a norma environment is around 200 cyc es.
This may be higher if LiteWare is not run to ‘turning off automatica y’ every time. We
recommend rep acing LiteWare battery every two years.

3. Operating the system
This chapter describes:
• Switching the system on/off
• Operating modes (wire ess and standa one)
• The contro s and disp ay
• Persona ities
Fu operating instructions are provided in this chapter. In addition, the bottom of the battery base
unit has a abe with various operationa and safety information. Be ow is a schematic of the abe :
3.1 S itching the system on/off
Press and ho d the TOP button for 1.5 seconds. The button LED switches on to show the battery base
unit is on. Press and ho d the TOP button again to switch off.
3.2 Operating modes
There are two operating modes:
• Wire ess DMX mode (uses addresses in range 1-512)
• Stand-a one mode (uses addresses in the range 601-670)
Each address va ue corresponds to an output co our at the head. To se ect an address you use the UP
and DN buttons, which are situated on the bottom of the battery base unit (see chapter The contro s and disp ay
for instructions).
Wireless DMX mode (address 00 -5 2)
Wire ess DMX mode uses addresses 001-512.
Output eve in wire ess DMX mode is contro ed by the wire ess DMX contro er that you use with the
system; the LiteWare HO battery base unit responds to the DMX eve s it receives.

In RGB mode, DMX channe a ocations are as fo ows:
Start address red eve
Start address + 1 green eve
Start address + 2 b ue eve
For examp e, if your start address (the first channe that the unit istens to) is 001, then the red eve is
a ocated to 001, green to 002 and b ue to 003.
In wire ess DMX mode, the battery base unit ho ds the ast DMX va ue upon oss of signa or DMX. The
battery base unit stores this eve when turned off so it can be resumed when it is powered back up. If
the battery is disconnected these va ues are ost.
Wireless DMX linking and unlinking
The ink status is shown on the LED disp ay on the base of the battery base unit when LiteWare HO is
powered on.
When the battery base unit is p aced in a f ight case the ink status can be observed as fo ows:
• Battery base units f ash b ue three times to indicate unit is current y inked to a transmitter.
• Battery base units f ash green three times to indicate unit is not inked to a transmitter.
To un ink a battery base unit, do one of the fo owing:
• When in f ight case, press top button 3 times to force un ink.
• When on and in DMX mode (address 1 – 512) press top button 3 times.
The DMX buffer is c eared when un inked to prevent any confusion when the unit is re- inked.
Refer to your W-DMX transmitter user manua for further information about the inking process.
Stand-alone mode (addresses 60 -670)
Stand-a one mode uses addresses 601-670.
To contro the output eve , press the TOP button brief y: each time you press the TOP button the
output is dimmed by a fixed amount. There are seven output eve s. When the TOP button is pressed
for the seventh time, the output returns to fu eve .

3.3 The controls and display
On the bottom of the battery base unit are the UP and DN buttons, and the ADDRESS disp ay pane .
UP and DN buttons
The UP and DN buttons are used to se ect an address.

Decrements the address by 1 (001 is the owest va ue).
Tip: The casing of the battery base unit is cut away at the bottom which a ows these buttons to be
reached even when the battery base unit is standing vertica y upright.
Fast address searching and address boundaries
If you press and ho d the UP or DN button the address changes s ow y then gradua y speeds up. When
the end of an address range is reached (see be ow) the address stays at that va ue. To se ect an
address in the next range, re ease the button then use the UP or DN button again.
Fast searching and address ranges provide an easy way to se ect addresses quick y. The address ranges
for both wire ess DMX and stand-a one modes summarised in the tab e be ow. See page 9 for
detai ed descriptions of the stand-a one address ranges.

The address display panel
The address pane disp ays the current address. The disp ay goes most y b ank after five seconds of
button inactivity. Press either the UP or DN button to wake the unit up.
When the disp ay goes most y b ank, there are a few sma LED point indicators that show information
about the state of the battery base unit. These are described in the tab e be ow.

3.4 Personalities
To access persona ities press and ho d the UP and DN buttons simu taneous y unti the disp ay reads
“Per”. The battery base unit is now in Persona ity mode.
To choose a persona ity use the UP and DN buttons (sing e presses, as for se ecting norma addresses).
Either wait for the disp ay timeout or press the TOP button to accept the persona ity.
There are four persona ities avai ab e, from P0 to P3:

4. Safety information
WARNING! C ass 2M LED product. Do not ook into the beam from a distance of ess
than 40 cm (16 inches). Do not stare into the beam for extended periods at a short
distance. Do not view the beam direct y with optica instruments.
This product is for professiona use on y. It is not for househo d use. This product
presents risks of severe injury or death due to fire hazards, e ectric shock and fa s.
READ THIS MANUAL before insta ing, powering or servicing the fixture, fo ow the
safety precautions isted be ow and observe a warnings in this manua and printed on
the fixture. If you have questions about how to operate the fixture safe y, p ease
contact Robe ighting s.r.o.
PROTECTION FROM FIRE Provide a minimum c earance of 0.1 m (4”) around fans and
air vents. Do not modify the fixture or insta other than genuine Robe parts. Do not stick
fi ters, masks or other materia s direct y onto LEDs. Do not operate the fixture if the
ambient temperature (Ta) exceeds 40 °C (104 °F).
PROTECTION FROM INJURY The LED emission presents a hazard to eyesight at a
distance of 4–40 cm (1.6–16”) when the eye is exposed to the beam for onger than
0.25 seconds.
• Do not ook at LEDs from a distance of ess than 40 cm (16”) without suitab e
protective eyewear.
• Do not ook at LEDs with magnifiers or simi ar optica instruments that may
concentrate the ight output.
INSTALLATION Insta fixtures on a eve , stab e surface where they do not present a
hazard of tripping or fa ing.
OUTDOOR USE If used outside, the unit must be dried after use. Do not use in damp
conditions for more than 24 hours at a time.
