General operation instructions
Various impurities in the top
area of the door leaf (i. e. plaster
residue) may not be wiped in the
direction of the lock (faceplate)
– the locking points could block.
Screw in screws straight so that
no tension can occur. Do not use
any stainless-steel screws!
Do not carry the door or door leaf
by the lever-handle.
During transport and handling,
the door leaf must be braced to
the frame with suitable packers
(sash-support components,
wedges etc.).
If the original cylinder is not in-
stalled, unlock the door only with
a Roto universal access key.
Install the cylinder stress-free re-
spectively aligned at a 90 degree
angle to the door leaf.
Mount long-plate handles and
rosettes stress-free.

Read the installation and operating instructions carefully.
Pass on the operating instructions to builders and end users.
1. Safety instructions
Installation and maintenance work may only be carried
out by specialised electrical companies. One is at the
risk of one’s life when working with 230 Volt (respectively
115 Volt) mains voltage. All work may only be carried out
when the power supply is switched off.
2. General description
The Roto Safe Eneo AF emergency exit lock is only to be
used in conjunction with Roto frame components and
HOPPE lever handle sets certied in accordance with DIN
EN 179.
Roto Safe Eneo AF locks mechanical-automatically when
closing over the door. Unlocking is carried out electroni-
cally, or manual operation is possible at any time. Roto
Safe Eneo AF can be used on emergency exit doors where
panic scenarios are not expected, as well as on apartment
entrance-doors and main entrance doors in single-family
houses and apartment buildings and is suitable for all door
materials (timber, PVC and aluminium). Even existing doors
can be retrotted with the appropriate modication work on
the door.
3. Operation and function
Automatic locking
Both additional locking points on the Roto Safe Eneo AF
consist in each case of a latch and a bolt that is integrated
in the latch; the automatic bolt. When closing over the door,
the latches snap into its strikers, using the same principle
as on the latch in the main lock. In doing so, the bolts in the
latches are automatically activated and the door is securely
locked.
Unlocking the door from the outside
Depending on the admission control system installed,
unlocking can be triggered by means of a transponder, key
pad, magnetic card or manually via the cylinder.
Unlocking the door from the inside
The door can be opened at any time via the lever-handle. All
three latches and the two additional locking point’s auto-
matic bolts are withdrawn automatically.
4. Audible signals
1 x beep – Acknowledgement message: Command
understood, procedure carried out correctly.
3 x short beep sound – Advisory message: Command
understood, Roto Safe Eneo A cannot carry out the com-
mand, because the maximum number of cycles within the
prescribed time unit has been exceeded.
3 x dual tone beep – Error prompt: The control unit
detected an overcurrent in the motor and has stopped as a
result.
4 x dual tone beep – Error prompt: The connecting rod’s
nal position was not reached within the maximum permis-
sible time of 3 seconds.
5. Installation instructions
Upon installing the door, the functional clearance
(4–5 mm) is to be checked.
6. Application range
Roto Safe Eneo AF is designed for single leafed emergency
exit doors with lever-handles in accordance with DIN EN
179 where panic scenarios are not expected; e.g. ofces etc.

Installation instructions
The ‘automatic function’ (spring-loaded)
is only ensured in the vertical position.
Door commissioning: Prior to con-
necting up the Roto Safe Eneo AF to
the power supply, test the Roto Safe
Eneo AF’s operation manually. The ef-
fort needed to activate the lever-handle
may not exceed the normal manual
force.
Checking the door has been in-
stalled correctly: Check as to whether
the sash meets the frame and check
the hardware and locking parts’ smooth
operation. Check the functional clear-
ance (4–5 mm). Manually check the
closing and opening function via both
the lever-handle and the key while the
power is switched off.
Roto Safe Eneo AF requires lever-
handle versions with split spindle (pull
handle or similar on the outside,
lever-handle on the inside).
Position the lever-handle height at
between 900mm and 1100 mm. The
installation company bears all responsi-
bility for any deviations.

Installation and maintenance instructions
Maintenance instructions
The door manufacturer must draw
builders and end user’s particular at-
tention to these maintenance instruc-
tions.
In the event of non-compliance of this
advice, faultless system operation can-
not be warranted.
The following maintenance instruc-
tions shall be adhered to not less than
once a year – and also more often de-
pending on use:
The end user
must lubricate:
- Lubricate all movable parts and all
locking points of the locking system
must clean:
- The strikers may not be clogged up
or blocked.
- Use only cleaning and maintenance
agents that do not compromise the
corrosion protection of the hardware
components.
must check positioning and opera-
tion:
- Check movable parts on all locking
points for correct operation.
- Check that the lever-handle set is
mounted securely.
- Check that safety-relevant hardware
components are mounted securely.
- Examine safety-relevant hardware
components for wear and tear.
- Tighten xing screws if necessary.
may not paint over:
- Do not paint over the lock (faceplate)
and/or the locking components.
shall notify a specialist if need be!
Only the specialist may:
Carry out work on the locking sys-
tem and respective hardware com-
ponents.
Replace components.
Replace xing screws if necessary.
Testing the door
Check the system if it corresponds to
the list of original, approved supplied
components.
Check the door for prohibited retro-
tted locking devices.
Test the emergency exit mode of
operation
Test the emergency exit mode of
operation at regular intervals.
Using a force gauge, measure the
operating forces that need to be
applied to release the emergency exit
lock, record this and compare it to the
clearance levels from the initial instal-
lation.
Installation instructions
Caution! The emergency exit
lock is not suitable for use on
swing doors.
Avoid possible safety hazards when
using the emergency exit lock on
doors with stepped surfaces, e. g. n-
gers or clothing getting trapped.
When using the emergency exit lock
on glazed doors, the glazed parts must
be made of safety glass or laminated
safety glass.
Emergency exit locks should be ap-
plied where the width of the escape
route is limited or the doors on which
the locking mechanisms are installed
can only be opened 90°.
The protrusion of the blocking ele-
ments may not impede the door’s free
movement.
Only the blocking mechanisms, strik-
ers and hardware, that were tested
together with the emergency exit lock
may used be.
Prior to installation:
– Ensure that the door has been pro-
duced and tted correctly.
– Ensure that the door is not warped.
– Ensure that the door leaf and frame
run parallel to each along over the
entire height.
– Remove all impurities from the
routed area.
– Check the clearance – timber:
4 mm uniformly all round.
– Check the clearance – PVC:
12 mm uniformly all round.
– Check the clearance – aluminium:
uniformly all round in compliance
with the prole manufacturer’s spe-
cications.
Installation
1. Crop the faceplate in line with the
door design.
2. Screw x the faceplate with Ø 4 mm
screws at right-angles to the face-
plate.
Use the appropriate xing material for
xing an emergency exit lock on tim-
ber, PVC or metal doors.
Use through bolts for solid lever-
handle xing.
Ensure that both the latch and all lock-
ing components close softly.
Prole gaskets may not hinder the
smooth
functioning of the emergency exit
locking mechanism.
When installing a door closer, bear in
mind that the door operation for chil-
dren, the elderly and the disabled is
not unnecessary hindered.
Marking
Attach the marking on the inside of the
door directly above the lever-handle:
either as a sign with the inscription
“Turn the handle to open” or a picto-
gram.
The pictogram should be min. 80 cm²
, and white on a green background.
Upon completing the installation of the
emergency exit lock, the arrow shall
point to the lever-handle.
