Your Pro Iron steam station is an

BEFORE USE
1 • Water recommen ations
Tap water
Rowenta irons are esigne to be use with
REGULAR TAP WATER (up to 12 grains per
gallon of har ness – contact your local water
company). If your water is har er than this,
Rowenta recommen s mixing half tap water
with half istille water which re uces the
har ness; or just use inexpensive bottle
spring water.
Softened water
There are many types of househol water
softeners an the water from many of them is
perfectly acceptable for use in the Pro Iron
steam station. However, some types of
softeners, particularly those that use
chemicals such as salt, can cause the
appliance to leak or spit uring use. If you
experience this type of problem, we
recommen that you try using inexpensive
bottle spring water or untreate tap water.
Once you have change water it will take
several uses to correct the problem. Rowenta
recommen s trying the steam function for the
first time on an ol towel or cloth that can be
iscar e to avoi potentially amaging your
clothes.
Always remember :
Water containing a itives (such as starch,
perfume or fabric con itioner) will not be
use . Such a itives can affect the properties
of the steam an at high temperatures can
form eposits in the steam chamber which
may mark the laun ry when they are emitte
through the steam vents.
2 • Filling the boiler
The Pro Iron steam station is esigne to
operate using tap water. (A).
While unplugge , place the Pro Iron steam
station on a stable horizontal, heat resistant
surface.
Unscrew the boiler cap.
To prevent overflow uring filling, use the
water funnel provi e in the packaging. Fill
slowly with water until the re ball reaches
the « max » level. Do not fill water tank past
the base of the boiler cap threa . Do not
overfill. Be sure that water oes not spill over.
If this occurs remove the excess water.
Replace the boiler cap an screw it on firmly
but be careful to not over tighten.
Over tightening can amage the green 0-ring.
USE
3 • Turning on an off
Plug the Pro Iron steam station into a 120 volt
electric outlet.
Press on/off switch up (B), the iron light an
steam in icator light will turn on.
When the steam in icator light turns off
(approximately 11 minutes), steam is rea y.
During ironing the temperature in icator light
for the iron an the steam in icator light will
turn on an off. This is normal as the
temperature is being regulate . The unit is still
on when these lights go out.
To turn the unit off, press on/off switch own.
Unplug an leave to cool completely before
emptying or putting away. Set the
temperature control ial on the iron to the
minimum setting before unplugging.
Descaling liqui s/agents shoul not be use .
To fill boiler while you are using the
appliance see section “Filling boiler while in
use”.

Remove all packaging from the steam
station. It is normal for a small amount of
smoke an a light o or to be pro uce the
first time it is use . This will quickly
isappear.
- Do not irect steam at people, animals
or iron clothes while they are being
worn.
- Never attempt to unscrew the boiler
cap while the appliance is in use.
The strong steam pressure coul result
in burns. Only unscrew the cap when
steam station is col or there is no more
pressure in the boiler.

4 • Steam ironing
The appliance allows steam output to be
a juste .

5 • Dry ironing
This appliance can be use for ry ironing if
the steam trigger is not presse an the steam
control ial is set to min.
6 • Vertical steam
To remove wrinkles in cotton or linen, the
soleplate can come into contact with the fabric
for optimal results.
For synthetic fabrics, a istance of 4 inches is
recommen e to protect the garment.
For elicate fabrics, we recommen carrying
out a test on an unobtrusive part of the
garment (inner steam).
Fill iron accor ing to the “Filling the boiler”
section of instructions.
Press on/off switch up (B), the iron light an
steam in icator light will turn on.
When the steam in icator light turns off
(approximately 11 minutes), steam is rea y.
Hang the garment on a coat hanger an hol
the fabric from the bottom of the garment
slightly taut with one han .
Hol ing the iron in a vertical position, press
continuously the steam trigger while moving
the iron from the top of the garment to the
bottom (C).
If unit is left on without steaming for a length
of time, water can con ense in the hose an
roplets of water can be seen when you begin
to use the Pro Iron steam station again. For
best results simply aim the iron away from
yourself, other people, animals an clothing
an press the trigger for a few secon s to
remove the con ensation an steam begins to
fill the hose.
7 • Filling the boiler while in
use
Before opening the boiler, ensure that there is
no steam insi e. To o this, ensure the unit is
turn on, press the steam trigger an keep it
presse until there is no more steam.
Turn the unit off (see section “Turning On an
Off”) an unplug from outlet.

Before using the Pro Iron steam station for
the first time or if you have not use the
steam function for a few minutes, press the
steam button several times in a row while
hol ing the iron away from your clothes.

remove from the steam connection cor .
When ironing start with fabrics that require a
low temperature setting (•) an finish with
those which nee the highest temperature
(•••).
Mixe fiber fabrics shoul be irone on the
temperature for the most elicate fabric. For
example a shirt that is 60% cotton an 40%
polyester shoul be irone at the (•) setting
for synthetics.
If spray starch is use , spray it onto the
reverse si e of the garment. Allow starch to
penetrate before ironing.
For best results, use a mesh type ironing
boar to allow excess steam to escape.
For elicate fabrics, we recommen carrying
out a test on an unobtrusive area of the
garment such as an inner steam.
Never iron or steam clothes while they are
being worn.

9 • Cleaning the soleplate
In normal use a raggy coating may buil up
on the soleplate (starch, etergent buil up,
burnt synthetic fibers). This can be easily
remove by using the Rowenta Soleplate
Cleaning Kit or a quality hot iron soleplate
cleaner available at most stores.
To prevent scratching the soleplate, o not iron
over sharp objects (zippers, etc.). Do not place
the iron on rough surfaces, e.g. metal iron
support, which may scratch the soleplate.
Always put the iron with the soleplate own on
the iron rest, never place on its heel.
10 • Rinsing out the
boiler
To ensure optimum steam performance, the
boiler must be rinse out after every 10 uses. If
your tap water is har increase the frequency.
Check that the Pro Iron steam station is
unplugge an col .
Fill the boiler 3/4 full with tap water.
Shake the boiler for a few moments an then
empty it over a sink (D).
Repeat the process.
Wipe the Pro Iron steam station base regularly
with a amp cloth an wipe ry.
Boiler Cap
To ensure a proper seal, please check the
green rubber ring in the safety cap for wear
an tear regularly. If wear is note , replace
ring. Replacement rings are available
through our consumers service epartment.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Before cleaning ensure that the appliance is unplugge an completely cool own.
The iron can be cleane with a amp cloth an wipe ry. Never use househol cleaners,
escalers or solvents.

Unplug the appliance.
Place the iron on the iron rest an allow to
cool completely which will take approximately
1 hour.
Once col , empty water from the appliance
before storing. We recommen emptying the
boiler when not in use.
Do not use escaling agents.
Never hol the Pro Iron steam station un er
the tap.

washing to remove any soap eposits or

use with a steam station.
Check that your ironing boar is suitable.
A mesh top ironing boar rather than a
perforate top ironing boar must be use to
allow any excess steam to escape an to avoi

Steam escapes from
the boiler cap. Cap screwe on incorrectly. The boiler cap is not tight enough.
The seal on the cap is worn.

on.
Check cap regularly for signs of wear an tear
to green rubber ring. Replace if wear is notice .
Check that 0-ring is not cracke or
broken an that you have tightene
the boiler cap firmly.
