1. To open the lid, depending on model:
- Lid with assisted opening: press on the latching
system and the lid will lift automatically (fig 2).
- Lid with automatic opening: press on the
button at the top of the handle (fig 3).
- Locking lid: turn the lid anti-clockwise to unlock
and lift off (fig 4).
To close, press firmly on the lid or, for the
locking lid, turn clockwise.
2. Place the base on a flat, stable, heat-resistant
clean and cool surface.
3. Fill the kettle with the desired quantity of
water (fig 5).
USING THE APPLIANCE
• Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.
Position the kettle and its supply cord well to
the rear of the work surface.
Do not place the kettle on or near slippery or
hot surfaces or allow the cord to hang above a
source of heat (cooking hob, gas cooker).
Your kettle must be used only with the base
belonging to it.
You can fill via the spout, which helps keep the
filter clear. Always fill with sufficient water to
cover the heating element (or the bottom of the
kettle).
Never fill the kettle while it is on its base.
The kettle must always be used with its own
ant-scale filter.
Do not fill above the maximum level or below
the minimum. If the kettle is overfilled, the
water may boil over.
Do not use without water.
Check that the lid is properly closed before use.
4. Place the kettle on its base. Plug into the
supply (fig 6).
5. To turn on the kettle, press on the on/off
button at the top or bottom of the handle,
depending on the model (fig 7).
6. Depending on the model, an indicator light
may come on.
7. The kettle will turn off automatically as soon
as the water comes to the boil. You can stop it
manually before lifting it off its base to pour.
Depending on the model, the indicator
light will go out when the kettle switches off
or is switched off. Ensure that the kettle is
switched off before lifting off its base.
On first use we recommend that you discard
the water as it may contain some dust. Rinse the
kettle and filter separately.
Connect the kettle only to an earthed socket.
If you need to use an extension cord, this must
have an earthed socket and be suitably rated.
Ensure that the cord and extension do not trail
to avoid any falls.
Do not leave water in the kettle after use.

This filter neither treats nor removes the
hardness of the water. It thus conserves all the
qualities of the water. With very hard water, the
filter can clog very quickly (10 to 15 uses). It is
important to clean it regularly. If it is wet, put it
under a running tap, if dry, then brush it gently.
Sometimes the scale will not detach itself; it will
then need descaling.
CLEANING AND CARE
To clean your kettle
Unplug the kettle from the mains.
Allow it to cool and wipe with a damp sponge.
Never immerse the kettle, its base, the wire or
the electric plug in water: the electrical
connections and the switch must not be in
contact with water.
Do not use abrasive pads or cream cleaners. To remove the anti-scale filter, lift the kettle off
its base and allow to cool. Never remove the
filter when the appliance is full of hot water.
DESCALING
De-scale regularly, preferably at least once a
month or more frequently if your water is very
hard.
To de-scale your kettle:
• using white vinegar:
- fill the kettle with 1/2 l of vinegar,
- leave to stand for 1 hour without heating.
• using citric acid:
- boil 1/2 l of water,
- add 25 g of citric acid and leave to stand for
15 min.
• using a de-scaler specifically for plastic kettles:
follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Empty your kettle and rinse 5 or 6 times.
Repeat if necessary.
To de-scale your filter
(according to model):
Soak the filter in white vinegar or diluted citric
acid.
Never use a de-scaling method other than that
recommended.
To clean the filter
(according to model) (fig 8)
The removable filter consists of a mesh to retain
the particles of scale and prevent them falling
into your cup when pouring.

IN THE EVENT OF PROBLEMS
THERE IS NO EVIDENT DAMAGE TO YOUR
KETTLE
• The kettle does not work or stops
before coming to the boil
- Check that your kettle is properly connected.
- The kettle has been switched on without
water or an accumulation of scale has caused
the overheat cut-out to operate: allow the
ket tle to cool and fill it with water.
Descale first if scale has accumulated.
Switch it on: the kettle should start working
again after about 15 minutes.
• The water tastes of plastic:
Generally, this happens when the kettle is new,
discard the water from the first few boilings. If
the problem persists, fill the kettle to maximum
and add two teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda.
Bring to the boil and discard the water. Rinse out
the kettle.
IF YOUR KETTLE HAS BEEN DROPPED, IF IT
LEAKS OR IF THERE IS VISIBLE DAMAGE TO
THE POWER CORD, THE PLUG OR THE BASE OF
THE KETTLE
Return your kettle to your Rowenta After-Sales
Service Centre, only they are authorised to carry
out repairs. See the guarantee conditions and
list of centres in the booklet supplied with your
kettle. The type and serial number are shown on
the bottom of your kettle.
This guarantee covers manufacturing defects
and domestic use only. Any breakage or damage
resulting from failure to comply with the
instructions for use is not covered by the
guarantee.
Rowenta reserves the right to modify the
characteristics or components of its kettles at
any time in the interests of the consumer.
Do not use the kettle. No attempt must be
made to dismantle the kettle or its safety devi-
ces.
f the supply cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer, its after-sales
service centre or a similarly qualified person, in
order to avoid any danger.
PREVENTION OF DOMESTIC ACCIDENTS
For a child, a burn or scald, even if slight, can
sometimes be serious.
As they grow up, teach your children to beware
of hot liquids to be found in the kitchen. Position
the kettle and its supply cord well to the rear of
the work surface, out of the reach of children.
If an accident does occur, run cold water
over the scald immediately and call a doctor if
necessary.
In order to avoid any accident: do not carry
your child or baby at the same time as drinking
or carrying a hot drink.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Environment protection first !
Your appliance contains many recoverable or recyclable materials.
Take it to a local, civic waste collection point.
