Important information
Shiplap buildings come ready stained but this is only a preparatory treatment. To VALIDATE the guarantee, the building must be properly
treated with a recognised external wood preserver WITHIN 3 MONTHS of assembly and RE-TREATED ANNUALLY thereafter.
Adequate provision must be made to ensure ground contact is avoided and air is able to circulate underneath the building. Placing the
building on a concrete pad or slab base is acceptable provided that the building is not allowed to sit in pooled water during wet conditions.
If the building is to sit on soil or grass it MUST be erected on pressure treated wooden 50mm x 50mm or similar bearers (These are
not supplied in the kit). Rowlinson Garden Products recommend using pressure treated bearers with all buildings on any type of base.
Timber Information.
As timber is a natural material, there are certain weather conditions that may affect the materials properties. In times of excessive dry
spells the material may lose some of its internal moisture causing a certain degree of shrinkage on a panel and in periods of excessive rain
there will be a certain amount of swelling throughout the wooden panels. This process can not be avoided. If you have problems with
certain boards shrinking in dry spells try to decrease the amount of direct sunlight on the building or the amount of air passing over the
building. During hot spells spray water directly onto the panels with the aid of a garden hose.

7. Bargeboards
On each end of the roof secure two bargeboards, ensure that the top edges are flush with the roof line and the boards
meet evenly at the apex secure using 3 x 30mm nails per board.

6. Roof felt
Cut the roll of felt in to to equal lengths. Place a length of felt on one side of the roof. At front and back and along the lower
edge of the roof leave an overhang of felt of at least 45mm. Fold down the felt along the lower edge and secure to the felt
batten using 15 x 10mm felt nails evenly spaced. Dress the felt over the roof ridge, tension and secure along the edge using
4 x 10mm felt nails. position the second piece of felt in the same way as the first on the other side of the roof. Attach to
the felt batten using 15 x 10mm felt nails, tension over the roof and secure with 15 x 10mm felt nails. At the front dress
down the felt and secure to the felt blocks and the ends of the felt battens using 6 x 10mm felt nails per end. At the back
secure to the back panel using 6 x 10mm felt nails. Using a sharp knife trim off any excess felt.

1. Floor
Place floor on a level surface.

side panel frames for
each screw.
2. Wall panels
Position the back panel and a side panel on the floor. Note how the panel cladding overhangs the floor edge and the panel
frames sits on the floor. secure together using 2 x 50mm screws. Screw through the side panel frame in to the back panel
frame. Attach the other side panel in the same way. Then add the front panel.

4. Roof panel assembly
Secure a felt batten flush to the lower edge of each roof panel using 5 x 30mm nails per batten. Flush to the front edges
of each roof panel fit the bargeboard blocks. Note that on the right-hand panel the bargeboard block at the apex is flush
with the top edge of the panel but on the left-hand panel the block is set 30mm in from the upper edge of the roof.
secure each block using 2 x 30mm nails.

5. Roof panels to walls
locate the roof purlin at the apex between the front and back panels, secure using 1 x 63mm screw at each end. Screw
through the panels in to the ends of the purlin. Place the roof panels onto the building, make sure the top edges are
located at the apex and the roof is flush with the back panel. Secure with 8 x 30mm nails per roof section,nail through
the roof and into the panel framing.

3. Securing wall panels to floor
Secure the wall panels to the floor at each side using 2 x 40mm screws. At the front of the kennel screw up through the
floor in to the ends of the front panel frame using 1 x 40mm screw each side of the door. At the back use 1 x 40mm
screw.
