1. Plug 12-17V into the RECEIVER's “PW R”port.
The idealsource isa ~14.8V battery (i.e.4S Lithium cells).
If th e v o lta g e is o v e r ~ 1 7 .5 V o r p o la rity is re v e rs e d , th e R E C E IV E R w ill b lo c k th e
dangerousvoltage and notstart.
2.A=xone orm ore M OTORS to the rods/lens.
Each m otor is factory-set to a certain class (Focus,Iris,Zoom ) and labelled accordingly.
You can re-assign m otorclassesvia the m enu.
3.Plug the M O TO R(s)into the RECEIVER unit.
Plug the M otor(s)into any m o t o r p o r t , t h e M o t o r s w ill b e g in c a lib r a t in g .
4.Puta Canon LP-E6 battery in the CO N TRO LLER and hold dow n the
PW R button.
Cam eraRun/Stop
1. Connectthe appropriate Run/Stop cable from the CAM porton the
Receiverto yourCam era.
2.Enter the Controller’s M EN U ,Select CAM ERA,then select w hich
cam era you have connected.
3.You can now Run/Stop the cam era w ith the REC button.

The RTM otion Lens Control System is optim ised for high-end W ireless and W ired
re m o te c o n tro l o f C in e m a a n d still c a m e ra le n se s.
The range is speci⌧cally designed to enable a low -cost entry point (single m otor),
withabroadexpansioncapability.
A large num berofaccessoriesare in developm entto furtherexpand on the range's
cap ab ility (gim b alcon tro llers,und erw ater con trollers,etc.),an d w e alw ays w elco m e

Theory ofO peration
Sm artM otors
The M K3.1 M O TO R units are intelligent sm art m otors,w ith built-in electronics w hich
handle allseeking and calibration behaviour.W hen pow ered up,the M otorw ill⌧nd
th e le n s e n d -sto p s a n d le a rn th e ch a ra c te ristic s o f th e le n s. It d o e s a ll o f th is w ith o u t
any help from the Receiver or Controller. Since the M otors have their ow n
in t e llig e n c e , th e y n e e d o n ly a s m a ll 4 -p in L e m o c a b le fo r o p e ra tio n .
Each M otorrem em bers its CLASS (focus,iris,zoom ),and its RESPO N SE (norm al,fast,
slo w ). Y o u can th e refo re p lu g an y m o to r in to an y M o to r p o rt o n th e R e ceiver.To re-
con⌧gure a M otor,you n eed to use the C O N TRO LLER m enus.
Receiver(aka M DR)
O3 oading som e electronicsinto the sm artM otorshasenabled usto dram atically

operations. This has enabled a system w ith low cost,high 6exibility and very sm all
size .

Controller(Hand Unit)
The Controller is the m ain brain of the unit.Via its O LED screen it also handles the
re m o te -c o n ⌧ g u ra tio n o f th e R e c e iv e r/M D R a n d M o to rs.
LATITU D E M D R
The new LATITU D E range ofM D Rs(aka receivers)take the heartofthe M K3.1 Receiver
and add extensive netw orking and cam era interoperability.Initially the platform w ill
provide deep integration w ith RED'so; cial3rd p a r t y p r o g r a m m e , in c lu d in g t h e a b ilit y
to d riv e E F & N ik o n le n se s v ia th e ir in te rn a l m o to rs, a n d a cc e ss to in te rn a l R E D
param eters.The LATITUDE platform hasthe pow erand potentialto integrate deeply
withothercameras,system s,motioncontrolplatform s,etc.foryearstocome.
Wireless
From M K3.1 onw ards,devices include our latest RF3-G eneration w ireless m odules.
Westrivetostayattheforefrontofperformance,andareproudtoo=erthelongest
ra n g e , m o st in te rfe re n c e -im m u n e w ire le ss so lu tio n o n th e m a rk e t. F C C a n d C E
certi⌧cation is o fcourse retained,and w e are now rig htu p to th e leg allim it.
Slave Controllers
SlaveControllersaresimple(a=ordable)devices–suchasjoysticks,thumbwheels,
recordbuttons–whichrelyontheelectronicsinsidetheReceiver/MDRtofunction.
To use a Slave Controller,you need to attach it to the A U X or IN -1/ IN -2 port of a
com p atib le REC EIVER orLA TITU D E M D R.
Sm artControllers
Sm art Controllers contain electronics,and therefore do not require a Controller or
Receiver to function.The ⌧rst Sm art Controller in the RTM otion range is the Sm art
Knob (see page 23).

Low Battery Indication
The Controller w illgive a w arning and autom atically shut dow n w hen the battery
voltage falls to approx 6.1V.This is to protect the Battery from being over-drained
and reducing its life.

(K n o b /p o t, R o c k e r, F o rc e Jo y stic k ), W ire d -M o d e o p e ra tio n (c o n n e c t th e C o n tro lle r to

Slave Controllers (aka,Analogue Controllers)
Slave controllers (thum bw heel,rocker,etc.)directly connectto the A U X port,and can
be con⌧gured to controlany available axis (Focus,Iris,etc.).Run/Stop triggering is
also supported, provided that you have an appropriate cable connected to your
cam era from a C A M p o rt.
WiredMode(bypassWireless)
