2. General Description
2.1Intended Use
The RxAir 3000 is designed to circulate room air through its patented multistage HEPA
filter to remove microbial airborne particulate. Contaminated air is therefore continuously
purified by passing through the RxAir filter. Twelve air changes per hour are easily
achieved in an 18 ft x 20 ft room resulting in a continuous cleansing or “washing” of the
room air. This is analogous to hand washing's effect on skin contamination and helps to
control airborne particulates.
The effectiveness of the device is dependent upon room parameters such as room size,
central heat and air, doors, windows, etc. RxAir consultants are available for detailed
analysis of room parameters. As a general rule it is necessary to keep windows and
doors closed for maximum effectiveness of the RxAir unit.
The RxAir unit is easily utilized in any room where air cleansing is desired, such as
restaurants, offices, classrooms, health care rooms, waiting rooms, and day care
facilities. The technical support staff at RxAir is available for consultation and support.

Next, plug in the plug end of the 3000M power cord into the power service outlet,
verifying the outlet is a grounded service outlet.
Then, select the power button to the “on” position on the control panel.
Note: When the unit is switched to the “off” position, it does not store electricity in any
battery system. When the unit is turned off the power will dissipate from the capacitor
and can only function when the electric motor is powered in the “on” position.
6.3. Cleaning/Decontamination
If your unit was used in a medical application such as isolation of an known infectious
patient follow the proceedures as advised by your infection control department.
Note: If aerosol disinfectants are used, take precautions to not spray directly on motor
and electrical components.
Note: As a precaution, the unit should not be run until all cleaning agents have
sufficiently dried.
6.4. Replacing Filters
With the rubber seal facing down, slide the modular filter into the unit, pushing it
back with a slight angle upward until the filter pack has cleared the door.
Let the filter rest on the bottom of the unit and push into the back until it will no
longer move.
Secure the front of the Modular HEPA filter with the two black fasteners, attaching
them to the filter.
Secure the door and lock both locks on the back of the door.

RX3000 Manual & Operating Instructions 7/10
Page 18 of 25
Replace the pre-filter, with the seal facing up, loading it from the front of the unit.
Follow power up procedures for use.
Note: It is recommended that pre-filters are changed once-monthly during regular use.
For healthcare facilities Infection Control Protocols should be established for filter
changes of both filters when used for isolation of an identified hot patient.
Note: We recommend changing the modular filter annually to maintain peak
performance during standard purification uses; it is recommended that you document
your filter changes in a log, either in the one provided in the product manual or one that
you develop to maintain a schedule.
6.5 Replacement of the Germicidal UV Bulb
The Germicidal UV bulb installed in the RxAir 3000 is rated at a life cycle of
8000 hours. An infection control protocol should be established regarding
the frequency of changing of a new bulb for service life. All uv bulbs lose a
percentage of effectiveness through the life cycle. The manufacturer rates
this loss at no greater than 20% over its life.
Remove the old bulb from the bulb receptacle first, by twisting it 90 degrees
in either direction and second, by pulling the bulb downward. Follow your
facility disposal protocols with consideration as to how the RxAir unit was
used.
Install the new bulb, taking special care to handle the bulb at each metal
end; touching the glass will decrease the life of the bulb. Insert the bulb and
then twist it 90 degrees to secure in place.
WARNING: This system contains a germicidal UV light that is inactive
when the blower is not running. Additionally, there is a dual safety switch
that allows the unit to run –only when the back panel is secured. This
safety system should not be by-passed as direct viewing of uv can
seriously damage your eyesight.

8.1 Limitations
The number of room air changes per hour by the RxAir Air Purifier is dependent not only
upon device performance but by any other environmental factors which can affect room
air. These include but are not limited to central heat and air conditioning, windows, and
doors. If any of these factors add or remove room air then the number of room air
changes per hour will be affected.
Call RxAir Customer Service for a technical representative if assistance in determining
the number of room air changes per hour is required.
