WARRANTY
The SA POWERNET EX Transformer has a product warranty of 1
year from the date of delivery. The warranty does not cover cables.
The warranty covers only materials and manufacturing defects.
User abuse and/or failure to comply with the instructions above will
invalidate the warranty and may also invalidate the certification of the
transformer. The information supplied in this User Guide does not in
any way remove any responsibility from the user of the transformer.

PRODUCT INFORMATION
The SA POWERNET PNLT Transformer is an ATEX approved Transportable Transformer with a capacity of
3.8kVA. Continuously rated, the PNLT will deliver power safely wherever you need it. It is a thoroughbred
SA product that has been painstakingly developed, to be a highly durable, yet extremely easy to use.
Transportation is simple with a wrap-around protective marine grade stainless steel frame, fork lift
points and 4 lifting eyes.
Weighing in at under 100kgs and developed to fit two on a euro pallet, this unit is highly compact and has
integral supply cable storage.
This user guide covers the following products:-

BEFORE USE
IMPORTANT! - ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Always ensure you know how to use any electrical equipment before use.
Misuse of electrical equipment can result in injury or death.
Only connect the SA LUMIN Ex 3.8kVA Transformer to a properly installed power supply system.
Check the supply is providing the correct voltage and current for the transformer, this is clearly
displayed on the type label.
If you use extension leads make sure these are suitable for your requirements.
Never put cables or transformers where they could be damaged or could become a hazard to yourself
or someone else.
The equipment is to be used properly and according to its ratings, documentation and local/site
regulations.
You are responsible to ensure that any equipment is suitable for the environment in which it will be
used. The personnel using the unit have to be authorized by the operator or his representative.
The operator is also responsible for the safety of the equipment.
You must make sure that the equipment is selected, installed and used in accordance with regulations
(EN60079-14) and is checked before use.
This equipment must be kept in a suitable state by regular inspection and maintenance, see page 5
This equipment must only be used for its intended purpose.
The certification details of the plugs can be found on the product type label.
If you are unsure about anything, get help before proceeding
IMPORTANT
This SA POWERNET Ex 3.8kVA Transformer must not be taken into a Zone 0 area
MOVING AND SETTING UP THE TRANSFORMER
The transformer is supplied fitted with 4 lifting eyes and is also designed to facilitate the use of a pallet
truck/forklift.
Ensure you have assessed the resources and safe handling methods required before proceeding
with good lifting practices to prevent bodily injury. For further information please refer to statutory
regulations and your company site guidelines relating to manual handling at work.
The transformer should not be moved while energised; disconnect the power supply to the
transformer unit before moving and then move to new position before reconnecting

DURING USE - OPERATING THE TRANSFORMER
Position and set up the transformer according to the previous instructions
Check that the transformer is safe for use and has no defects, paying particular attention to the
external cables and the electrical enclosures.
The transformer can then be connected to the correct supply. The supply voltage should be within the
voltage range shown on the product type label.
The supply voltage should not vary by more than +/-10% of the voltage on the product type label.
Ensure that the load of the equipment connected to a socket/ or pair of sockets does not exceed the
maximum rating of the secondary MCB fitted.
See specification on page 7 for further details.
If the transformer stops functioning or does not switch on, it should be taken into safe area before
inspecting the control box. The transformer contains circuit breakers and fuses in the upper enclosure,
which may stop the unit functioning in the event of a fault.
If the transformer gets damaged during use it must be immediately disconnected from the supply and
removed to a safe area for inspection and test. Correct use of the equipment should help to ensure
that it is not damaged. If you would like more information on ancillary products, please contact the

AFTER USE - INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
Maintenance may be carried out only outside the EX area
Isolate the Transformer unit from the mains supply and allow to cool before carrying out any
maintenance work.
The transformer should be cleaned when necessary using a damp cloth. If necessary use neutral soap.
No detergents or solvents are allowed. Do not allow dirt and/or dust to accumulate on the equipment.
Operator is responsible to comply with the all applicable regulations including:EN60079-14, EN60079-
17 and EN60079-19
Basic repairs can be carried out by a competent electrician in accordance with the detailed instructions
– available on request.
No user modifications are permitted and only original spares from SA Equip must be used. The use of
any other parts will invalidate any warranty and could compromise the safety and functionality of the
equipment.
Maintenance instructions, exploded-view diagram and spare parts list are available on request. SA
